Beautiful deep amber with towering, frothy head which leaves a creamy layer of foam. Smooth blanket of lace. Hazy.
Semi spicy aroma, nice hop character with hints of rye.
Awesome flavors. Assertive floral and pine hop bitterness. A little salty. Smooth cherry sweetness. A hint of nutty almond flavor. Overall, smooth and well balanced.
Medium bodied, well carbonated. Dry finish.
Very interesting beer. Nice balance of complex flavors. One of the best red ales I've tried so far.

A: Pours a dark amber with a thick, puffy off-white head that laces deep into the glass. Not a bad looking beer.
S: Aromas of caramel, earthy hops, cream, and minerals come across sharply on the nose. As the beer settles and warms, these scents blend into one another. Not the cleanest smelling amber ale.
T: Opens crisp and sweet with notes of caramel, mineral water, cream, vanilla, toffee, chalk, talc, and earthy, leafy hops. The hop notes come across late on the palate, imparting an alternately grassy and peppery edge to the flavor profile. It's an interesting effect, but comes across too late to make a lasting impression. The finish is crisp and sweet with more caramel and earthy hop notes blending with a malty nuttiness.
M: Medium-bodied, dry, and firm. The carbonation is very active and up-front. This beer will seriously parch your throat if you drink more than one. Far from the most drinkable ale in the world.
O: Redpoint Ale was an alright beer, but I, for one, was not unhappy to see it go. In my opinion, Avery's regular offerings have never held a candle to their specialty/connoisseur products, and this beer was no exception to that rule. If you did not get the opportunity to sample Redpoint Ale before it was retired, you really didn't miss much.

A- Dark amber color topped with a thick off white head. Head fades to a cap and leaves some nice lace on the glass.
S- Mild floral hops and a undertone of sweet caramel.
T- Caramel and sweet from beginning to the end. The hops try to make and appearance and cut through the sweetness in the middle, but they do not succeed. The finish wavers back and forth between the bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of the caramel, with the caramel winning out in the end.
M- Medium in body and decent carbonation. Finish is sticky sweet and not too clean.
O- A little bit out of balance and a little too sweet for me. There are better examples of the style out there.

Had a bottle of this one on 4-28-09. This beer poured a nice shade of amber with a tan head. This beer has a welcoming aroma to it of sweet malts and hop spicy hops. The flavor was semi sweet with a good balance of hops to keep it in line. The mouthfeel of this brew was medium bodied and fairly smooth. I'm surprised they retired it, but I guess they needed for some better stuff.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.
A- A shade between hazy orange and bronze, redpoint ain't exactly red. The head is a off white shade about a half inch up leaving nothing behind.
S- A whole lot of biscuit in the malt with caramel and a off smelling hop variety, a bit vegetal at this point but not so much. No hint of alcohol, fairly simple.
T- Reminds me of a homebrew, a red one, this fits the style, yet the flavors clash. Some earthy hops that are faded, some earth with veggies. Caramel with the biscuit and a metallic aftertaste. Not what I expected.
M&D- A touch above medium bodied, some very forced carb with bitey results a bit of earth on the aftertaste, metal. Not for me, I drank it but much better reds out there, this needs a facelift and apparently it's getting one.

Poured into a pint glass. No bottled on or bb date on the bottle. Im surprised to see that this beer is no longer being brewed. I didn't know that and have seen it at my local beer store for quite some time.
A- The brew pours a nice amber brown to red color that is showing some great signs of carbonation and is fully transparent. I also get a think inch of tan colored head that sticks around for a minute or so.
S- I get a bit of light hops for a red ale, and is also a nice malty and bread like flavor to balance it all out.
T-The taste is a bit bland and i kinda expected more. But i do get a nice hoppy flavor. I guess it just seemed like i might get a bit more fullness to it.
M- Medium body and a easy clean texture. Drinkability to go with it.

pours copper amber orange with a 1 finger head that left spotted lacing
smells of biscuity pale english malts
taste is much like the nose - caramel biscuit malts and hops
mouthfeel is spot on - light with good carbonation that is both crisp and smooth
drinkability is ok - however they dont make this beer anymore so i doubt the remaining 10 or so bottles on the store shelf will last that long

This one pours a reddish amber color, cloudy with 2 fingers of lumpy foam. The retention was good, as was the wall of lace.
The nose was more malt heavy, with a biscuity flavor, cinnamon and caramel tones. The hops, though overshadowed have a nice floral presence.
The flavor follows the same trend as the aroma. A good bit of spice accompanies the sweet toasty flavor. The hops play more of a role in the taste, especially the dryish finish, which was a bonus. The grassy aftertaste makes for an easy drinker.
The carbonation was plenty enough to keep a relatively typical body feel alive. Good sessionable beer here.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a ruddy-orange, with a sea-foam head that reduces unevenly, leaving tons of sticky retention down the sides.
Smell is faintly hoppy and malty, but not terribly expressive.
Taste starts with a caramel malt, that gently fades to an almost soapy taste. No bitterness at all, this is a rather bland beer with a gentle sweetner to give it some flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium, somewhat creamy.
Easy enough to drink, however, I frankly expect a lot more from Avery give the other quality beers they put out. It is no wonder it has been discontinued.
