22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 2006. Pours hazy almost opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, prune, grape, caramel, toffee, molasses, banana, clove, toast, chocolate, light roast, and dark earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester notes; maybe some slight oxidation but its hardly even there. Taste of big raisin, prune, caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, clove, dark bread, light banana, light roast, wheat, and earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, clove, light banana, dark bread, light roast, wheat, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity ester notes; with no cloying sweetness present after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Weizenbock at 7 years old! Great balance and complexity of malt/fruity ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

I was a little nervous to crack this one open... better late than never.

Swampy root beer brown body topped with a finger of khaki head that dissipates to a creamy cap that laces well.

Cream soda, malted wheat, caramel, leather, birch syrup, faint oxidation, no real booze presence, very smooth smelling beer.

Loads and loads of cream of wheat, cinnamon, caramel, french toast, molasses, the flavors have faded somewhat making for a pretty tame finish. That said, this thing is highly drinkable, smooth and far from offensive.

If you've got one of these tucked away, have at it!

Poured deep brown with a ruby tinge. Minimal head, just a few bubbles here and there. Relatively mild aroma of brown sugar and dark fruit.

Lowish carbonation (pretty good for six years old, though) and a sticky, slightly thin mouthfeel. Big wheat and biscuit backbone with ample sugar cookie sweetness, vanilla, and dark fruit. Slightly toasty finish.

Sweet but not cloying, and not very boozy either. Was good, but I think I had my expectations set a little too high.

APPEARANCE: Dark black with a touch of red glow around the edges. The small head vanished rather quickly and left a few wisps of lace on the glass

SMELL: This is an exceptional smelling beer. The nose is complex, fruity with berries, passion fruit and a touch of orange. There is a good dose of malt as well along with vanilla, smoke and some alcohol.

TASTE: Sweet and delicious. As the beer warmed the complexities slowly came out. There was almost no hop character left, but that wasn't much of a concern. Dark fruit, vanilla, a little trace of smoke and a boozy heat all appeared at some point throughout the glass.

MOUTHFEEL: Very smooth and very refreshing considering that it lacked much carbonation. With the rich, intense and sweet flavors there is not much need for a palate cleansing feel. The slightly sticky aftertaste, in fact, is quite welcome.

OVERALL: This is an outstanding beer. If you can get your hands on it while it still exists, you should.

Picked up a bomber at Kahn’s Liquors in an Avery sale in May 2008. Got almost no head on the pour. Plenty of aroma still there, with fruit and bread both coming through. Fairly creamy mouth feel. The alcohol comes through in the aftertaste and that becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. It seemed to hit peak flavor around 45-50 degrees F, not a suprise given the ABV. I could only drink half the bomber.

carmel toffee earthy taste. nose brings heat and a dirty toffee.
enjoyed this beer thoroughly, not sure how it was in 06 but age did it well im suspecting.
reminds me of an american strong ale than a weizenbock but can be the age.
id be happy to get my hand on another, i enjoyed this more than the angels share.

Adding this old review from one of my old notebooks. Poured a deep, dark brown color with a small light tan head. Aromas wheat, spices, dark malt and chocolate. On the palate, this one is medium bodied, with spice, chocolate, wheat and a little booze.
