HOP FREAKS UNITE!!! This is a lovely hop bomb. A true Yankee IPA. I loved this beer! Hope is there right in your nose as you get the glass to you face taking in that first break in anticipation of the first sip of this beer! Upon first sip you are given a lovely taste balance of hops and malt. The taste of both are not over powering in the least, very smooth. A nice head ring remains around the glass, after taste dissipating within a few minutes. I could kill off an afternoon and an evening with nothing but this in my hand!

A better canned IPA. Love the packaging.

In summer, my go-to beers are Dales & Avery out of can because I am outside 90% of the time.

Dales wins out over the long haul for better mouth feel, color, aroma and conviction, but Avery IPA is solid runner up in cans.

Appearance - very clear and light. (I prefer more left in the brew).
Smell - Citruis clean, slightly frat cellarish.
Taste - Again a little bit frat keg staleness, but otherwise light, easy IPA hoppiness with tang.
Mouth feel - slightly thinner than I like.
Overall - reliable canned IPA, if you must have IPA in can (and I do) this is one of the better ones.

Another in my series to go through as many Avery as I can come across before they leave.
Canned on day 298, so it should be fresh enough.
States "Hop freaks unite", which takes me bad to my youth and the siren call of the Grateful Dead.
Anyway, this is a nice beer and I'm a little disappointed I didn't go to it earlier. Nice fresh hop aroma. Very clear golden yellow and a big billowing head.
Flavors really shine. Great hop flavors with solid bitterness, but none to excess, although it pushes it. Rather heavy body, really, but fullness is enhanced with the carbonation. The bitterness pushed DIPA levels, but the rest stays within the bounds of style.
This is a hop lovers delight. I'll miss this one being around.

Gave it a vigorous pour into a Samuel Adams pint glass. The frothy, milky head started at about an inch then slipped down to a healthy skim. This brew is just a wee bit darker than your average lager and a shade bit lighter gold then your average IPA.

It's smelling all earthy, fruity, and floral all mixed with your customary pine and caramel notes.

The taste starts off with a nice bitter kick in the chops followed by an subtle, almost not there, malt sweetness. Not enough balance.

The mouthfeel hits it just right. Perfect carbonation. Lots of fizz, snap, crackle, and pop.

Canned craft beer is still a novelty to me so I had to pick this up.

Poured with a large frothy white head. Golden with a light haze and quite a bit sediment or hop matter floating around. At my moms so I know the glass isn't dirty ;)

This is what it's all about. Great hoppy aroma. Lots of floral and citrus (as stated on the can) and a subtle malt sweet smell in the background. Very well done.

Oooh, lots of bitterness and hop flavor. Not dominating or overpowering, quite drinkable really. Touch of sweetness up front to make this very well balanced.

Right up there for drinkability and as an IPA overall.

Poured from 12 oz. can into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and somewhat hazy golden orange with lots of rising bubbles. Solid three fingers of white head with good retention. Leaves a good amount of lacing around the glass.

Smell: Aroma is a nice mix of citrus and floral hops. Hints of grapefruit, orange peel, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, and lemon. Floral and grassy hops with a little pine resin. Backing of sweet bready malts with hints of caramel, toffee, and biscuit. Also a little candy like sweetness. A solid citrus forward smell overall.

Taste: Like it smells, a nice ripe citrus taste with some floral hops. Notes of citrus orange, grapefruit, pineapple, lemon, apricot, and mango. Earthy, floral hop taste with a little spicy resin lingering. Solid presence of bready malts with some notes of sweet caramel, toffee, yeast, biscuit, and crackers. Taste is pretty hop forward and fairly bitter. Tastes juicy and good.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy and juicy. Finishes pretty dry.

Overall: A very solid American IPA. Good ripe citrus and floral flavors. Bold hops with a nice soft malt backing.

Golden orange with white head and some haze.

Nose is a bit more mellow than I expected it to be. Some grapefruit and piney notes.

Taste makes up for it with just a light caramel character and bready notes that really accentuate the hops. This just blasts the taste buds and finishes dry enough that you really crave another sip. Moouthfeel come off medium with some smooth characteristics amd coates the tongue. Resin notes, biscuity characters and a lingering pine finish just drive this American IPA. What else would I expect from Avery?

Delicious.

Pours a slight hazy orange gold color with a very thick foamy 2 finger snow white head that was cloudy looking and packed with bubbles, and faded slowly leaving amazing foamy lacing coating the sides; out of a can, this is as good as an IPA can look - just gorgeous. The head was so thick it was like an iceberg just starting to melt in the arctic sea and a pleasure to watch dissipating.

Smells of grapefruit, lemon, orange peel, citrus hops, sweet malt, caramel, floral hops, flowers, brown sugar, light grains, candied sugar and spices and sweet notes like booze (rum or red wine come to mind); great smelling IPA that is fragrant and potent, with just enough malts and grains to compliment the hops.

Tastes as good as it smells, with juicy citrus hops up front, grapefruit, lemon, orange peel, pineapple, sweet malt, caramel, floral hops, flowers, tangerine, brown sugar, light grains, candied sugar like Skittles, light spices like coriander and pepper, mild booze like rum, and some herbs and more hoppy sweetness; near perfect balance, a wet hop essence and tons of flavor, this is a stellar IPA.

Mouthfeel is creamy, smooth and almost oily slick, with a medium body that's chewy and borders on thick feeling, average carbonation and a bitter citrus filled finish that is tangy and full of orange, grapefruit and tangerine; very sweet and juicy finish that trails off with light grains, leaving a sweet citrus pucker. A great, great IPA that was tasty and flavorful from start to finish: a top notch IPA.

Light amber-gold with a bright white 3 finger head with good retention and lacing. The aroma has pineapple, pine, and citrus. Nothing fancy about the aroma, but it is nice.

The taste has pine, pineapple, citrus zest, citrus, floral hops, and biscuit malt. There is a combination of light sweetness, a good amount of bitterness, combined with the biscuit malt flavor to make an interesting tasting beer.

Medium bodied with average carbonation and a dry finish. A nice IPA worth trying if you get the chance.

Poured from can into pint glass. Beautiful golden amber color with some light lacing in head (which dissipated rather quickly). Strong smell of grapefruits. Taste is spicy but still bitter. Mouthfeel is waxy but still crisp. Goes down smoothly. A delicious beer to be enjoyed on any occasion. Notable IPA.

Golden amber color, out of the can with a nice frothy head that lingers well. Somewhat opague. Smells of a piney with mild citrus hops. presence of malt gives a slight caramel smell and taste. Crisp hop flavor when fresh; after a bit of time you get a hint of candy but still good.

Pours nicely from the can to develop a nice rich lacey head that sticks to the glass as you sip.

The aroma is citrusy - mostly grapefruit. There is also a peach hint and a malty cracker tone in background.

The taste is hoppy, but not overwhelming. It's mellow when it hits your tongue with some grassy and pine flavors then opens up with some orange citrus and ends softer maybe bready and floral.

This is a medium to full bodied beer that is a fine IPA example. Good carbonation and great balance.

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

Off the pour quite an almost crystal clear body, textbook pale amber in color it seems, with little rising carbonation. Head is bright white, makes three fingers and settles nicely, somewhat not too uniform, but looking alright.

Nose is a fleshy grapefruit, mild sweetness with a lingering hop bitter, airy, in control relaxed even. Toasty brown sugar lingers a little on the sweetness after some time. Quite good.

Palate hits with an obvious pine blast, mixing with a little bit of sweetness. Malt action on this doesn't quite hit the heights in the palate at all, finishes with a nice brown sugar sweetness. After taste is very fleeting and it doesn't stick around.

Overall it's not too bad, but in the big realms of the major players this isn't quite hitting all the notes. I could easily drink this again though, but far from my favorite or a simple go to when there are so many other IPAs out there that I enjoy more so.

Poured into a standard pint glass.

The beer is a golden orange with a nice creamy head that dissipates to a film. Pretty good lacing coats the glass. Pine, faint grapefruit rind, and hops dominate the aroma. The beer tastes clean and to the point. Dry hops, bitter grapefruit, and a bit of woody pine notes are all in here. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and dry.

Overall, A pretty good beer, point blank. Good hops and all of the other things associated with a decent IPA. Worth it and may be revisited.

Spectacular hue of honey-orange, clear, with a rocky 3-4 finger cap of foam that persists, receding slowly leaving copious heavy lacing. It looks delicious. Smell is a bit of a let down. Mildly orange, muted hop, biscuits. Blah. Taste steps it back up, good bitterness flowing with orange citrus pith and herbal elements. Zesty. Wet. Nice, nice balance with a bit of honey, biscuit malt. Canned peaches. Pears. This is Very good. Very tasty. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, carbonation is just right. Mildly lingering bitterness for a clean finish. Half empty now and the sides of this glass are thickly coated with curtains of lacing. Overall very, very good.

Large, four-finger white foamy head. Awesome lacing and brilliant clarity in the orange brew.

Heavy bitter citrus along with bready apple and roasty banana.

Very bitter, but refreshing and sticky. Nothing off putting. Heavy grapefruit and herbal flavors. Light carbonation, too.

A slight mess between the scent and flavor; the scent detracts from the flavor, they're nothing alike. Avery's IPA is very refreshing and enjoyable, but lacks smooth transitions. It hits, but could hit harder. Recommended.

Pours a light golden color with the thickest, frothiest head of beer I've seen in a while.

Aroma is brimming with citrusy hops. Anything else is quite faint to my nose.

Wow. My taste buds are immediately doused in a bitter, light grapefruit haze. Malt is sweet like fresh bread dough. Very nice balance here.

Mouthfeel is the exact same. A balance of citrus and bready malt.

I'm impressed with this version of the style. It hit all the right notes.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a 14 oz "pint" glass with a medium white head with some staying power. Smells of floral and earthy tones, however, it is not overly strong. Tastes of light malt that gives a sweet taste, and nicely balanced with floral hops. Carbonation is great, and a nice smooth finish for this light bodied beer. Overall, a very good beer.

My favorite beer overall. A relatively hoppy beer, and definately not for everyone, but if you like hops, you will love this beer.

Living in the east it is fairly hard to come by. Lately I have only been able to find it in cans at Table & Vine in West Springfield, MA

Wow, what a surprise! I didn't have high expectations for this beer, but was overwhelmed! This is a GREAT IPA! I think this is also my first IPA tasted from a can, to a glass. It was very enjoyable! Probably a medium smell of citrus and hops, and a nice hoppy beer.
Just a great beer, and one that I will now try and stock quite consistently at home.

Golden color with a dense off white head. The aroma is big and citrusy that screams off the wall hops. The taste is citrus hops all over the tongue with enough malt to give it depth. I say that is well-balanced for an IPA. The mouthfeel is smooth and crisp with a dry finish.
