Notes:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.
Our Amber Ale is made with a blend of pale, munich, and caramel malts to give the beer an intense malt flavor. It is also liberally hopped to give the beer a pleasant hop flavor and aroma. The result is a fairly strong, malty beer with a good balance of hops.

A - Dark amber color with a one-finger head that quickly dissipated. Not a bad looking beer at all, but not exceptional by any means. 3.5
S - Whiff of malt and hops with a faint hint of caramel or molasses. 4.0
T - The taste was more light and smooth than I expected (or wanted for that matter). Mildly hoppy at first, then the taste dissolves and there's no bitterness or late hop notes. The taste was disappointing overall, but easy to drink and consistent. 3.0
M - Smooth with little carbonation. Almost like drinking cold spring water. 3.5
O - I was disappointed by Abita's Amber Ale. I expected something with more taste and character than what I got. That being said, it's still a tasty beer that goes down smooth and would be great when paired with food. 3.5

Nice medium amber in color We found this beer to be very tasty. As we rank this beer we found it to be one we refer to as, frig worthy. Very clean finish, nice smell and overall above average drinker. This is a crisp feeling beer to the mouth, has a nice finsh. Great with swiss cheese.

This was a real disappointment. The taste is very watery and bland. Smell is your average pilsner smell, even though this is supposed to be a Lager. There really is no mouthfeel, other than there is something liquid in your mouth. If this is what you're after, save your money and buy Bud Light on sale.

I have had there Turbo Dog out of a bottle before and didnt care for it, but I was at one of my local Southwest Mexican Resturants, Blue Burrito Cafe in Westbrook, Maine. (Side note, 6 draft lines: Abita Amber, Altantic Coal Porter, Otter Creek Cooper Ale, Smuttynose Old Brown Dog, Allagash White and Sebago Fryes Leap IPA. Bruce does a nice job trying new and fun local things.) The smell at first was of Raseberrys and the beer drank very smooth with a sweet taste on the way down. Very very drinkable. Tasty to the last drop.

A - Deep amber color, barely any head at all, fairly attractive
S - Malty - nothing really stood out
T - Tastes much better than is smells, but still nothing really jumps out at you
M - very, very smooth drink. light on carbonation
D - Decent - this isn't the beer I'd choose to drink by itself, but it would be pretty good with a meal

Had this on tap at my wife's company picnic.
A: Amber-colored (duh) with slight head.
S: Weighs havily to the malt profile side of the equation but nice.
T: Nice balance - not all malt as I was expecting. Really well-crafted amber ale.
M: Average
D: Could have a couple of these, but might be a bit too heavy for a seious session.

Appearance - Darkish golden amber color clearer then other
abitas with very little head at all
Smell - A sweet malty smell
Taste - Smooth, caramel, and malty flavor with a hop filled after
taste
Mouthfeel - Light for an amber and a bit flat slightly under
carbonated
Drinkability - Not to shabby would be nice with a order of chicken

Had one of these Louisiana beers while watching the Saints win the super bowl with my New Orleans native friend. It was an experience.
A - It had a medium size head, nothing special. I drank it out of the bottle, so it would be a bit unfair for me to say much about the color.
S - This beer smelled like almost any other beer out there. It was a bit faint and had a bit of a "cheap american beer" smell.
T - After giving this beer a waft I wasn't expecting much in terms of flavor, but this did beat my expectations. It isn't amazing, but it has a nice sweet hoppy flavor, and no bad after taste. I actually tasted of chocolate after taste. Though I'm not sure if that was just my taste buds deceiving me.
M/D - This beer has pretty good drinkability. I was able to finish the whole beer pretty quickly, and I actually enjoyed it along the way.
Bottom Line: This isn't a beer that will reach out and grab your attention, but it was more than adequate to sit back, eat a burger and enjoy a game with your friends.

Apparently a new brew for abita. Had it on tap at the brew pub.
Beautiful amber-red, somewhat deep. Fingers worth of pale head. Spider webs nicely.
The smell was the worst part of this beer. Not that it smelled bad, but that it really just wasnt bery aromatic at all. There was faint malts and a dash of hops...faint.
The taste did a 180 from the smell. All the flavors bombarded you. Rich and malty, with the perfect mixture of slighty bitter hops. It had a sweetness to it, but wasnt overdone.
Wonderful feel. Medium bodied, with ever so little coating. Just felt great going down.
You could session this in an instant. It was wonderful and I definitely had me a few.
This has got to be in my top 3 for Abita. I am uncertain if they will be bottling it, but give this a go if you can.
