Pours slightly hazy, chestnut brown in color with 3/4 inch head. Taste is tootsie roll, black tea, and brown sugar. Medium-light bodied, slightly sweet, with moderate carbonation. Makes for a solid American brown ale. Glad I tried it, probably don't need a six

Pours a rich mahogany color with a frothy tan head that has excellent retention and sticky side glass lace.
AROMA: Bread malts, mollasses,
TASTE: The bread malts and mollasses are dominate. Sweet, but with a drying finish.

Poured from the tap into a 20 OZ mug. The appearance is a cloudy brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is mild malt. The taste is a weak malt flavor that has a flat feel to it.

Reminds me a lot of our special ale by anchor. Chocolate malts and Piney hops. A little thin on the mouth. Pretty tasty though. A good food beer. I usually pick some of this up every year as a beer to have around with food during the holidays. The recipe changes every year so while similar, it's all so different.

Clear dark amber/reddish color. A little weak on carbonation and feel. Aroma is mostly an astringent pine smell with a little bit of malt. Taste is exactly the same, the malt adds some sweetness which mellows out the pine and makes this surprisingly drinkable

Impressive head which recedes slowly and in a dome-like fashion. Nice 3D lace on the glass. The color is deep copper amber. Light haze.
More caramel than a grainy smell. Not very sweet, but definitely rich with darker white toast notes.
The taste surprised me as it was earthy and then bitter. Oddly, I hadn't picked up on any hop in the nose. Overall, it reminds me of a Burton Bitter Ale. The body is richer than a Burton but thinner than most "Christmas"/winter warmer style beers. Ample carbonation but nothing extraordinary. The aftertaste is bitter and lasting. I also get more of the dry darker malt in the swallow.
