Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Appearance: Crystal clear yellow with rising bubbles, a huge fluffy white head, good retention and lacing.

Pungent sweet strawberry smell, smells like strawberry shortcake!

Big pop of strawberry upfront and through to the finish. Sweet strawberry--strawberry candy, strawberry shortcake. Suggestions of Kool Whip may be imagined, but they are there. Crackery malt with hints of grainy Triscuit. The strawberry sweetness borders on artificial, but never becomes offensive. Finishes sweet initially, then crisps out.

Bubbly feel, light-bodied, not watery. Smooth.

A decent fruit beer/lager. The strawberry sweetness can be a bit off-putting, but overall it's pretty enjoyable.

I wanted to like this one, but I really did not enjoy it. The strawberry taste is way too strong, and doesn't pair well with the lager aftertaste. It seems like they just added strawberry juice concentrate to their Amber Lager. It smells like strawberry. That's it. Not a big fan.

A strawberry lager, very crushable, with a natural non Kool-Aid strawberry flavor. Worth picking up a 6pk once a summer, but at $13 dollars for something that’s not doing to get you drunk, haha let's pump the brakes there Gambit. Also I don’t like that Abita’s fruit beers have ditched the bottles.

Pours a bright orange. Thick foam. Lager aroma. Bright strawberry body. Sweet but not too sweet. Light sweet finish. Good flavor. Doesn't taste artificial. Much better than expected.

T Bought this at a gas station in Ohio apparently they've got good distribution and things are going well Boys respected Abita brewing. They could take this to the next level by making an actual tart or Or just use subtle fruit in the brewing process and some more hops and make it a kind of a fruity estery pilsner/ lager.
Almost. OK. Could you some tweaking

Type: 12-oz. can
Reviewed as: Fruit and Field Beer
Glass: North Park 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
Price: $1.33
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.
Purchased: July 11, 2021
Consumed: Sept. 28, 2021
Misc.: Canned on June 7, 2021 at 5:45 p.m. CT

Grabbed a can of this and a few others on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s. Not sure going in whether I was going to review it as a Fruit and Field Beer or an American Lager, but went with the former. Abita’s website called it “Juicy, ripe Louisiana strawberries, harvested at the peak of the season, give this crisp lager its strawberry flavor and aroma. Abita Strawberry is made with Pilsner and Wheat malts, Tradition hops, and the finest Louisiana-grown strawberries resulting in a light gold lager with a subtle haze.”

Poured a medium yellow clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky-to-frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Initially not a fan of the smell. Got artificial strawberry, buttered biscuit, caramel, toasted grain, mixed berry and spoiled fruit. It kind of reminded me of a Fuller’s London Pride somehow. Smelled a little bit better from the can. (Smell - 3.25)

Tasted a little better than the nose. Got artificial strawberry, mixed berry, spoiled fruit, buttered biscuit, caramel and toasted grain. Kind of reminded me somewhat of a strawberry variant of Fuller’s London Pride. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Abrupt, sweet finish. (Feel - 3.50)

I guess overall about as good as I thought it would be considering how hard it is to make a decent strawberry beer. (Overall - 3.50)

Pours clear yellow with a moderately carbonated two finger head. Aroma is strawberry. Taste is strawberry and a bitter aftertaste. The brew is clean tasting with little lingering profile. Classic lawnmower beer.

Love this in the springtime, right around strawberry fest in Ponchatula,LA not far from Abita Springs
Fresh strawberry is perfectly incorporated in aroma and taste, becoming a liquid crunchberry!
Not too sweet or plain, just right. Pours out like a hazy lager, but smells like a strawberry pie and is not overdone with the baloney. Exactly what the label says it is, and being from that northshore area near Hammond, this hits it on the bullseye! Excellent fruit and field lager! LOVE IT

12oz bottle into a pint glass. NO freshness dating.

Looks nice enough. Slightly hazy yellow body, small bright white head shrinks to a collar and covering, latticework of lacing.

Aroma is very mildly strawberry, and not fresh ones. Stronger aroma is biscuits, doughy.

On tasting, again, light strawberry. Basic lager, but with heavy biscuit, cracker, pie crust tastes.

Mouth above medium, finish strawberry pie with only one strawberry. (So a tart).

Overall, not a very good beer. Perhaps age has spoiled the strawberry note and tainted the lager. But no dating, so...

Looks like lager but slightly more hazy. Normal size head dies quickly and almost no lacing. Smells like typical lager. Good malt flavor, strawberry flavor is super muted, somewhat like the flavor you’d find in a strawberry pastry. Average finish that lingers on the strawberry. Would drink again if offered.

Abita Brewing Co. "Strawberry Lager"
12 fl. oz. can coded "22061 06:15" and sampled on 22198 (17 JULY 2022).
$1.99@ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, Nj

Notes via stream of consciousness: I'm not expecting much of this beer, I have to admit. The label reads "LAGER WITH NATURAL FLAVORS", not that that's a bad thing; I'm not against using flavorings. I prefer beers that use both real fruit and flavorings but that's just me. It's just 4.2% ABV so there can't be a whole lot to it. It's a hot day so let's see how it is. It's poured a hazy golden body beneath a two finger thick head of creamy white foam. The aroma is like strawberry hard candy. I'm not surprised by that. It's OK. On to the taste... it's like strawberry and vanilla. Did I just miss the vanilla in the nose? Umm, yeah, but it's much stronger in the flavor. There's some maltiness to it that kind of reminds me of a waffles at this point, but no hop flavors or noticeable bitterness. I'm going to guess that it's about 12 IBUs. It's a very one-sided beer, and on the sweeter side, but not cloying. It's actually fairly nice and I'm just tearing through it. The head has held up well and the lacing is decent. In the mouth it's surprisingly medium bodied for a beer of just 4.2%. I'm getting wheat out of the malt now, which is probably a much better descriptor than 'waffles'. The strawberry seems a little more authentic as well. It's refreshing but I think it would be even more so with a little bit more carbonation to it. On the other hand that might make it burpy. Eh, it is what it is. I like it far more than I thought I would but it remains a very simple, one-sided, sweetish and fruity beer.
