Bottle says 5%. 22 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A: Pours a dark copper color. The head is a dinky looking half finger white shade. It doesn't fade away to nothing in record time, but it certainly doesn't look impressive. A minor amount of lacing is left on the glass. One really has to pour aggressively to give any sort of decent head.

S: Hm. This really smells like a English-style pale ale. It's heavy on caramel, toffee, brown sugar, marzipan, and a touch of earthy hops. A combination of nuttiness and even chocolate appears after it warms up sufficiently. This is definitely miscategorized - but as a bitter, it works well.

T: By gawd, smakawhat wasn't kidding when he said this was a bit chocolaty. Earthy, piny hops are the first flavors I note; after that, the malts take over. They have a very caramel-esque, vaguely sweet tone to them - and yes, there's even some notes of chocolate, nuts, apples, and vanilla. What the hell is this? An ESB? Maybe a hoppy brown ale? Or a defanged Arrogant Bastard clone? I don't know at all. I'll give it some credit - it drinks like it's bigger than 5%. But at the same token...it drinks like it's bigger than 5%.

M: Both the nutty, chocolaty, and hoppy characteristics all conspire to give this a dry finish. It's a rough kind of dry, though. It suffers from the typical pratfall of many beers with a prevalent crystal malt backbone - it's too coarse near the finish. The aforementioned coarseness doesn't fit the lingering syrupy buildup on the palate, either. I probably would have enjoyed this more if the mouthfeel didn't get in the way of the flavor profile.

O: Not sure how it's called an APA here, this is very much English-style. Decent, just don't expect anything close to SNPA. Do expect to find it wearing Union Jack knickers should you ever decide to pull its pants down, though.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass. Dataed 04/20/12, hmmm lets see how this does...

A faint brown and reddish amber body, with a creamy head that makes only about one finger but manages to leave a good pucj. Head has a good amount of lacing with off white and light tan color.

Soft malts on the nose, with a small dense doughy biscuit quality and sweetness. Mild herbal like hops. Not bad actually, rather enjoying this subtlety.

Lots of chocolate toasty and sweet bread action with a classic light pale ale body. Dense malts in the mid palate with a bid dough sweet bread flavor. Light almost wet body still manages to carry a good density. Backbone of malt is very solid on this, with lots of chew.

Overall rather enjoying this one, wish I could have a fresher one though perhaps. Reminds me of an almost good English bitter (but with a chocolate sense).

[Suggested Glassware: Shaker Glass]

The pour was a foggy golden copper with a small (1 finger or less) off white creamy head that receded down to a thin film with a small collar and had good streaky lacing.

The aroma was somewhat mild with a light grain malt, floral hops and an earthy yeast with notes of caramel and citrus (grapefruit).

The taste was also mild with a lightly sweet malty taste and a hint of caramel at first, and then became lightly hoppy with a touch of citrus at the end. The flavor hung on for a good long while, with a slight increase in bitterness and a more pronounced citrus peel presence as time went on.

Mouthfeel was light in body with a dry, watery texture and a medium carbonation.

Overall this was a light and decent tasting Pale Ale, although the increase in the citrus peel bitterness sort of changed the overall flavor of this brew...

A: a dark muddy brown with no head leaving an almost barley wine style appearance. Little to no carbonation and a clear finish.

S: next to no scent beside the slightest twinge of pine and citrus.

T: American style pale ale? Huh!? This taste like a watery brown liquid extracted before any hop addition had been made.. Ill be somewhat nice and say that the malt profile delivers a smooth nutty chocolate addition..

M: light to medium bodied.. A taste that dies out within seconds

O: generally I can pull out decent qualities in most beers but this one? Well im struggling. Wouldn't recommend nor drink again.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Reviewed live in high elevation Libby, Mont.

A- One finger width cream head, sparsely carbonated head, mediocre retention. Rich, dark orange color with middling clarity. Unimpressive on the whole.

S- Medium and warm malts with some floral hops. Gentle citrusy hops but a generally subtle aroma.

T- Well built malt body, finishes with some dank hops. Well balanced with a bitter finish.

M- Smooth marshmallowy sort of feel. Some nice carbonation.

O- Better than the sum of its parts. Tastes fine, smells very nice and feels pretty good too.

Quite dark amber in the Stella glass with lots of sudsy foam. A little bit of resins and barley, and lavender? in the nose.

Lots of malt to begin with. Strongly flavored with the herbal, somewhat dank, load of hops. Some browned biscuits with a touch of honey. Finishes quite bitter. Each mouthful has that sweet promise and then turns overly bitter. Interesting, but not very drinkable to my taste.

From the 22 oz bottle, which notes the ABV at 5.0%, but the brewer's website says 5.3%, in case that matters to anyone.

Poured at a good temperature with a nice, foamy, frothy, off-white head that settled after a bit and some lace. Color is a slightly hazy, dark amber. Aroma is very mild, slightly malt and hop. Flavor's like nose, carbonic tang up front, followed immediately by bitter/sweet, a hint roast. Body and carbonation good. Finish is like flavor, on the short side, and forgettable.

Served from a 22 oz bottle. Everything about Klickitat screams West Coast-style pale ale, from the golden-orange colour to the aromatic blast of citrus hops. There some nice balance, though, with with lots of caramel and toffee aromas. The mouthfeel is very unctuous and rich. For a lower-gravity pale ale, it has quite a bit of body and heft.

Nice to see this in BC. Had it on tap at the St Augustines on Commercial. This is one of the best PAs I have had in awhile. Lovely hops that are balanced perfectaly by the malt. Long finish and solid mouthfeel that make it almost perfect for the style. I could drink this all night and I hope it is in bottles in BC as well since a good PA is a very good thing.
