Twelve ounce brown bottle - no dates.
Medium amber colour, dense off white head made of large sized bubbles.
Nose is nutty with hints of lemon.
Bready, sweet malt, somewhat nutty. Lemon pith flavour dominates, with hints of grass. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Nothing special.

Despite being called a Red Lager, this pours to a murky dark golden with orange accents, and even with a gentle pour foams up over the glass. The head is soapy with very good retention and clumpy lacing. Carbonation is medium-strong. The aroma again, is very Unibroue, and not what one would expect. Cloves and phenols are predominant with dry grain dust and maraschino cherries. Mouthfeel is spritzy with a medium-light body. Taste recapitulates the aroma...cloves, and despite the absence of such fruit, has a strong note of sour red cherries. Mild floral bitterness with a phenolic and herbal finish. Suggestion of amber malt husk in the aftertaste. Cleanly fermented. Alcohol isn't apparent.
Another wierd beer from Leopold's, but good none-the-less. Definitely NOT a red lager.

On-tap at the brewery.
Orange and cloudy. Nice head recedes to a circle of foam but laces the glass.
Smells malty and slightly citrusy
Tastes malty sweet citrus. Slightly hoppy.
Light body with medium carbonation.
It's very drinkable. I think this is their best beer but I'd usually rather go up the street to Arbor.

A very interesting red lager. Pours out to a reddish-gold in the glass. Aroma is that of malt with a slight yeast smell. Taste is quite malty, but not overbearing. The hops are there, but not to the extent of say a Bell's Amber. A nice, quaffable offering that would go good with a burger or steak off the BBQ.

Gold in color with maybe a slight orange hue. It is cloudy. Pours with a thin head that dissapates. Smells off a bit maybe some sulfur. Taste is malty with some tangy off flavor (sulfury?). I got this because I had some Leopold Bros. in a keg at a wedding but not sure which product it was. It tasted good then which may have been the occassion or being on draft. This stuff is pretty funny tasting. At least it is not watered down. The slightest hint of bitterness on the aftertaste. It's a shame because I know they use environmentally friendly processes but it doesn't seem to measure up in bottle form. Now I've got a sixer to kill off of this stuff. Best served cold.
