2011, somewhere in a small apartment in Munich. Two enthusiasts have just set up their first homebrew kit and are experimenting with malt and hop varieties from all over the world.
Their goal: a beer that will revolutionize the world of German beer… Foundation 11 was the foundation stone for CREW Republic and the German Craft Beer Revolution.
Hops: Herkules, Nelson Sauvin, Chinook, Citra, Cascade
Malt: Münchner Malz, Pilsener Malz, Karamellmalz

Bottle. Almost clear straw with a frothy head.
Fruity hops smelt. Lemon, peach and hints of dried grass.
Light biscuit malt attempts to balance the hops.
Moderate carbonation. Light to medium body.
A mid Atlantic brew.

330ml bottle, poured into pint shaker.
A: Golden, clear, small head which disappeared quickly, left some lacing.
S: Combined slight citrus notes with a hint of farmyard funk.
T: Did what it said on the tin or bottle in this case, quite a bitter finish.
M: Medium body low carbonation.
O: A mashup of a South German Kellerbier and a West Coast APA.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of April 2018, so it's a bit out of date. Acquired a while back from a webshop. Described on the label as a German pale ale; hopped with Tradition, Mosaic, Citra and Cascade.
A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A hazy amber colour with plenty of suspended sediment and moderate carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before reducing to a persistent surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of earthy yeast with hints of mild esters, subtle grainy malt, faint grass/hay and a vague leafiness. Bland.
T: Tastes of earthy yeast with notes of mild malt, subtle grass/hay, leafiness and faint floral hints. Very dry, followed by a delicate leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with fizzy carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of earthy yeast, leafiness and faint malt.
O: Meh - not great but probably too old. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are yeasty and dull with faint hints of oxidation. So-so body; too carbonated. No great shakes but my fault for leaving it so long. I'll have to review a fresher example....

L: An orange honey color with no head, no lacing either
S: A juicy watermelon, cantaloupe, or other melon fruits, a touch of honey, smells wet a little watery
T: Weird taste, not the typical Pale ale flavor I was expecting, a chalky flavor thats mixed with watermelon, not that pleasing.
F: A slightly watery taste, ends crisp and smooth but lacking a little
O: I've enjoyed other CREW beers but this is not the best, the taste just isn't there.
