Real big head...almost a full inch and dense; dark amber in color; sorta cloudy; good lightly citrus on the nose; good hop-forward beer; 'American' hoppy - dry, slightly bitter; heavy grapefruit flavor; packs a punch too; I really like the taste of this beer; it's been dry hopped and it's noticeable; I could drink 3-4 and be hammered; good flagship IPA.

Picked up minutes ago from the Vine in Denver...might well be brewed there vs Boulder Mountain Sun, but I'll do the review here.
Copper color with significant cloudy head and lots of lace.
Aroma of floral hops, fresh bread, tangerine juice.
Significant carbonation and mouthfeel.
Flavors of pink grapefruit juice, floral and grassy hops, light brown sugar, cloves, malts. Overall this has a significant body, some funky tropical juice flavors, some hop bitterness, a creamy mouthfeel, and a touch of alcohol.

On-tap at their pub in downtown Boulder.
A: Amber and hazy. Great head and amazing retention. Had a nice half inch of head the entire time.
S: Citrus, sugar, little bit of malt.
T: Well balanced, but hop forward. Oranges, grapefruit with a nice caramel malt backbone. Very nice.
M: Creamy, good carbonation.
O: Solid IPA, pleasantly surprised with this one. Too bad they don't bottle.

Had a couple on tap at the Denver branch of Mountain Sun. By far the most popular beer there from what I could tell, although I was hanging out with a bunch of hikers, and we tend to like our IPAs.
A: Pours a nice hazy, dark copper with a one finger off white head. Poor retention gives way to some thin lacing.
S: Primarily hop oils with lots of citrus notes (grapefruit); floral and pine hints. A nice hop spice blended with a sweet malt lingers in the background. Complex but not very strong.
T: Pretty much exactly like it smells. Starts with citrus, giving way to a blend of hop spice and sweet malt. Minimal alcohol presence and very little lingering bitterness. Very nice.
M: Resinous and malty, with just the right amount of fizz.
O: A very solid IPA and a great go to at Mountain Sun.

Served on tap at Mountain Sun in a pint glass.
Hazy amber color with a thin layer of creamy white head that settles very slowly.
Aroma is fresh and hoppy with great citrus character.
The flavor is wonderfully hoppy while still remaining nicely balanced. There's almost a honey-like sweetness up front that gives way to a crisp citrus snap of hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium-light in body and perfectly carbonated on tap.
Overall a great west coast style IPA.

nice take on the ipa here. pours a cloudy amber color with a foamy cream colored head that lasts awhile. smells like grapefruit, resiny hops, and dry sweet irish red malts. flavor is hop dominant, and this one must have a pretty sturdy abv. some fruity and some spruce tree characteristics in the hop profile, a lasting sweetness in the finish from the caramel/amber malts. feel is a little too filling for the style here, a pitcher nearly filled me too full for dinner, but this is an ipa i will order again because the flavor is outstanding and it stands out from the crowd. really curious about the abv though...

FYIPA arrived with a hazy amber hue and a small, but firm eggshell cap. The head retains well and leaves good lace.
Citrus and pine dominate the experience. The citrus notes consist of grapefruit, lemon and tangerine, while the pine is straight up mountain forest. Malts are sweet, with a caramel sweetbread effect. The bitterness is level is strong, but not crazy. it lingers through the finish. A medium-light body is oily and a bit too fizzy. Overall, this is a very nice IPA. I'm glad my waiter talked me into it.
