A: Hazy gold color with a white head that disapeared very quickly. A few scattered bubbles can be seen slowly going towards the top. Looks like honey.

S: This has obviously been sitting around for a bit as it is very skunky at first smell. A little stiring up and delicious sweet caramel malt and nuts come forward but are still overpowered by the unfortunate skunkiness.

T: First taste the sweet carmel flavors (plus some heinekenesque skunkiness) are present before being taken over by some lightly bitter hops midtaste. In the finish bitter and sweet collide while the aftertaste is very bitter. Not bad, but all flavors are very light.

M: Pretty average, medium body, high carbonation, pretty smooth.

D: Not bad but there are definatly better English Pale Ale's out there. I would get this again, but it is WAY overpriced for something so mediocre.

Poured the second half of a bottle into a collins glass.

Clear amber body with jonquil and gold highlights and a thin white surface slick.

Medium hop aroma in the nose, suggesting English noble varieties with hints of pepper and hay. Crackery malt base is to the front as well. I think I lucked out and got a bottle free of light-stricken-skunk.

Soft, faintly sulfur-y palate entry with dry biscuity malt cleansing the palate and offsetting the clean moderate bitterness from hops which adds a zesty quality, though not a lot of additional flavors (this isn't an APA after all). Very dry, earthy, mineral-laden suggests river stones.

Light-bodied, but not thin - low but sufficient carbonation.

A distinguished yet simple English pale ale - not as good as a proper cask offering, I'm pleased to pick this up when I'm in the mood for the style.
