Served on tap at the Thirsty Monk.
Poured a hazy dark orange with a solid white head with amazing lacing.
Aroma of fresh fruit with the likes of pears and peaches. There is just the slightes hint of barnyard funk which is enough to keep it interesting.
The flavor is very juicy with the same peaches and pears present in the aroma but much more powerful here. More funkiness but it plays nicely in the background. The fruityness lasts throughout but transitions wonderfully into an absolutely bone dry finish like a great Saison should.
Overall, this is one of the best Saisons I have experienced and a truly world-class beer. Glad I was able to try it.

Poured from tap into bfm chalice at Mekong in Richmond va. Pours a hazy golden with 2 fingers of head...wow lots of head for a sour. Huge funky sour aromas...lots of spice and a bit of grassy hay. Taste is awesome. Funky spice and pepper mixed with a bit of munich or caramel malt and subtle hop finish. Nicely tart and sour and perfectly dry. Wow what a fantastic brew. Funky earthy sour and just awesome.

I often criticize the beers of brewers who use the term "saison" or "farmhouse" as a marketing tool when their beers really don't resemble the classic rural Belgian taste. Whether they are too sweet, too fruity, lacking champagne-like carbonation, or is less spicy or earthy- there's always reasons to criticize... until now!
The opening pour releases a creamy and highly effervescent peach-orange color that's playfully cloudy and somewhat wine-like. Upon its body, the ale relinquishes a light ivory blanket of creamy foam that's impressively sturdy. How can a beer be this zesty and creamy at the same time?
A plethora of spice, fruit and earth flood the nose as the scent of dried citrus peels, weathered wood and white pepper melange delightful in aroma. Its seamless transition to taste opens up the most arid of sweetness as the taste of dehydrated limes, grapefruit, and pineapples fade quickly, thus allowing a near-sour lime, cider, and white wine taste to command its middle palate. Turning decidedly spicy, the taste of wood spice- attic powdery taste, cellar-like must, a pep of cedar, and an overall aura of saddle leather all swirl above the palate as the finish of dry alcohol spice and arid woods continue in aftertaste.
Incredibly, the beer bounces off of the tongue with an effervescent acidic texture that ushers in high drinkability early on. The early onset of dryness ensures a spicy bite and hardly noticeable warmth that concludes with a whimsical wheat creaminess that seems to come from nowhere.
The ale really captures the essence of "farmhouse" in its most endearing and classic form, even exceeding what's expected of Saisons- its a unique and celebratory taste that's not to be undermined. It's incredible in every sense of the word.

A: Luminescent candy orange with a creamy white head that stays.
S: Cherries, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, wet grass.
T: Very dry and tart up front. Notes of cherries and lemons blend with a citrus pithiness. Oak presence is well integrated throughout, accompanied by a clean finish with modest funk.
M: light bodied and well carbonated; very refreshing.
O: Wonderful saison. Dry, tart and mildly funky with a gorgeous estery palate.

@ Busy Bee
Hazy gold covered with a low head of loose, sticky bubbles. Surprisingly tart aroma...pear, wood, funkiness, berries, and floral notes. Not as sour in the mouth; increased spicy, dry wood and earth. Slick, juicy fruit sweetness, mild peppery yeast, and orange peel. Vague hints of vinegar here and there. Light, mildly astringent, and quite dry. It didn't blow my socks off, but this was a unique take on the style that I certainly enjoyed.

750ml bottle served in a snifter glass.
A: Pours an orange cloudy color forming a big solid and bubbled white head. Medium retention and many spoty lacings left
S: Sour and fruity with some spicy notes. Passion fruit. Vinegar. Sweet grains. Wood and a little bit metallic
T: Very fruity and sour upfront. A little bt spiced. Again, strong notes of passion fruit, wood, vinegar, bready and earthy yeasts. Mild hops bitterness in the very end
M: Light body. Good carbonation. Sour and fruity aftertaste
O: Very refreshing and tasteful beer. Another BFM masterpiece
