Poured 8/25/17 to snifter, deep amber, near still, no head. Nose shows oxidation, some mustiness, aged Belgian characteristics. Fruit tastes in front, which seems odd if no actual fruit in the bill, light cocoa, slight tartness. Medium body.

Pinkish deep amber (15) pour with fleeting off white head; no cap and virtually non existent lace. Smells like turpentine and tart fruit with just a hint of horse blanket. Flavors of tart berries and cherries; no remnant of the hop, and the Swiss Cocoa only found on the tongue coating. Lite mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, and watery. Overall drinks like a fruit lambic now.

Bottle shared by Darrell. Woot!
The beer appears orange to ruby in color, with a half inch of tan head that leaves some decent lacing on the tulip glass. The aroma offers light funk, cherries, malt, bread, fruit. Spices assert themselves more in the flavor than in the aroma. Tart cherries, spice, very mild funk. Not sour at all. A bit bland and light in the mouthfeel. Moderately low carbonation and really easy drinking. While this is not incredible, I don't comprehend the 3.41 review average. Enjoyable and tasty, though conservative. Worth a try.

Pours like most BFMs: copper with mild carbonation and trace amounts of head. Smells pretty sour with tart fruit and funky yeast front and center. A touch earthy towards the end. The tartness here is distinctively BFM.
Taste starts off mildly sour but quickly turns bland and watery. Some hidden fruits show up here and there before finishing slightly bitter and chocolatey. Bitterness is from the semisweet baker's chocolate, not hops.
Weak body is typical of BFMs but not of the style. The watered-down taste and thin body lend themselves to good drinkability, so there's that. Unimpressive overall, especially considering the other excellent brews BFM produces.

another one I had picked up at gbx and decided to open up tonight. poured into a fluted glass.
the pour was a touch dull with just a clear medium amber coming through and that was about it, no head to speak of. aroma is odd. lots of wood, muted grains, no cocoa, so no clue where that fits in, grape skins, various dark fruits. warming brings a hint of caramel and light hops, but again nothing crazy at all. clean finish, a touch slick with the oak coming through strongest about 15 secinds after the swallow.
not enough to distract me from the rest of the lineup, but this one fails.

pours lighter than I expected, an amberish copper with a smallish pure white head that settles to a thin film, yet laces okay.
lots of sour fruits on the aroma. not much cocoa powder or amber qualities in the smell. berries and a bit of vinegar.
sour flavor follows, but goes sweet in the middle with a touch of cocoa powder, caramel, toffee, a slight nuttiness and plenty of dark berries. kind of odd, but its definitely tasty.
tingly medium bodied with very slight carbonation.
overall, not bad, but not tremendous. I would drink it again. some subtle flavors ranging from sweet to sour to savory.

Bottled 2007. Drank Feb 2010.
A - Medium amber ice tea. Zero head to speak of.
S - Super light. Touch of booze. Slightly tangy character.
T - Cider. Unripe peaches. Tangy tartness. Dry dustyness on the back end.
M - Watery with a dry finish.
D - Poor flavor and mouthfeel. I wouldn't recommend a bottle this old.
