Any brewpub with three Saisons on-tap is ok by me!
Pfriem is located kind of in an industrial complex but new and modern. The exterior of the building is followed inside. Clean lines, modern, sleek but not cold at all. Laidback and family-friend but clearly a brewery as the tanks are in full display. I can think of a couple places that have tried to mimic this vibe but failed. Pfriem nailed it. Modern and cool but not stale, difficult to do correctly.
The three of us sat at the bar. Service was perfect. We were offered samples and tips. She asked us where we from and once we mention we were on a “beer vacation” she suggested we visit Logsdon and Solera Brewery while were in the area. Thank you for those tips!!!
I opted for a glass of the Saison and it was spot on. Top five US brewed Saison I have had (and I am sucker for a Saison). We ended up sampling about six different beers. The Triple was as good as any American brewed Triple I have had. Belgian Strong Dark was stellar and the Little Saison was fantastic too. Also, the Belgian White was perfect, not too sweet or overly spiced. They did have a couple hoppy beers for the non-Belgian enthusiast.
Limited food menu but enough options for everybody. I thought my Ruben was very good but maybe a tad dry (but I’m from Omaha – HOME of the Ruben Sandwich). Still, I enjoyed the food.
A gem of a brewery. The beer alone is worth a stop. The vibe and service was icing on a cake.

this is a belgian beer establishment, and i don't care for belgians, so i don't make it here often. when i do, i usually go with whatever ipa they have handy, which is always really good. that said, the food here is outstanding. i've had a couple different salads and burgers, and they were excellent. service is really good too. last time i was in they were expanding so they must be doing well for themselves. i've also been informed they have a killer happy hour, like a burger and a beer for $6? if this is true i will be here frequently.

Went here finally yesterday, I've been meaning to check this place out for quite a while. They brew mostly Belgian style ales, not my favorite style but most of the beers I had were good. I ended up sharing one of their sample trays which was quite large, 12 samples. I liked the darker ones the best the Belgian strong dark and Belgian Stout. The menu was small but had some good looking offerings on it. Ended up having onion ring they were some of the best onion rings i've ever had, they came with a tarragon aioli sauce. The atmosphere was great, although I could see how it could be very cramped in there on a busy weekend. Overall a cool place worth checking out especially if Belgian style beers are your thing.

Yuuum. Their beer is really, really good. The Black Saison is incredible. The space is industrial looking. We spent so long here that we almost missed a pre-paid dinner seating back in Portland. The drive out from Portland is really nice, so if you’re visiting Portland for beer, you should hit Hood River for an afternoon. (Double Mountain and pFriem make for a great day).

A: Saturday afternoon I pulled up, front row street parking, pretty lively modern place. Inside was nice. L shaped bar upfront with some seating off the to left of the door. Very open and spacious. Brewing equipment within sight on the floor. Struck up some good beer and bar talk. Lively, youthful, clean and energetic crowd and atmosphere.
Q: Pfriem beers range from mediocre to good for me. All of the beers I had were good in quality meaning no spoilage/infection or so on
S: Service behind the bar was slow. I sat there for a while and the serve never even provided a menu until I asked deep into my first beer. When my entree(burger) was brought to me I received no ketchup or silverware. Fail. The service was friendly, she was solo and perhaps a tad bit overworked.
S: A pretty decent range stylistically. Something to please everyone: IPA's , Pils, Begians...so on. Bout 8 different offerings
F: My food was good, minus the condiments and silverware. I just ate my dry burger caveman style.

Big open area inside with big windows and a complete view of the entire production facility located feet from the bar/seating area. Biergarden style seating located next to the bar as well.
Ladies working the bar were extremely helpful and willing to chat about whatever. Ordered some vegetarian salad as it was lunch that was really really really good; was just looking for a snack and this was a meal and beyond satisfying. It was a bit pricey but based on the size made sense I guess.
I got the sampler, was quite pleased. All of the beers were good to above average. None blew me away but none were dogs either. They had their regular lineup of about 7 plus all their special releases which were also about 7, I had the special because, well obviously. Would frequent this place probably over any other place in Hood River based on the overall experience.

Way down by the water - a new and very sanitary brewery location. I was quite excited to visit Pfriem after being extremely impressed with the beer that started to show up in Seattle over the past few months.
Just an hour away from Portland but galaxies away from the grimy faux-hipster scene. I felt like I was in Iceland, or Sweden with really subdued music playing, gorgeous scenery, weird blonde kids running around, etc.
Pfriem makes wonderful beer - all of it, i think. So delicate, so fresh - the glassware is beautiful as well. The food looked great, every last bit of it, but after eating a Reggie Deluxe earlier in the morning in Portland I was set on food for a few days.
Service was odd - very nice, and striking, women operating the bar but offering me a beer seemed one of the most distant thoughts from their minds. Maybe it was the intoxicating sunlight or the Sunday drag, but it was awkward.

I had the pleasure of visiting the brewery last weekend when I was in Hood River for a wedding reception. My entire experience was nothing short of fantastic!
First off, all of the beers I sampled were absolutely delicious! The 2 stand outs for me were their CDA and their Belgian stout. My girlfriend and I ordered the full flight (12 beers) and had no problem finishing all of them. Each brew was unique and always kept us coming back for more after each sip. My only regret is that they were out of their mosaic pale ale that I had at Belmont Station a couple weeks before this. Absolutely a world class pale.
Were shared an order of the fondue and were not disappointed. Nice fresh cut meats and bread that paired great with the brews.
Despite it being relatively busy (Saturday around 7pm) the service we received was top notch. The server was attentive and friendly and came back several times to check on us. A special shout out goes to Stephanie the tasting room manager. She was on top of her game like few I have ever seen. She was genuinely enthusiastic about her job and it showed. Her service alone will ensure repeat visits from my friends and I.
pFriem is a place that every northwest beer enthusiast should visit. Sooner rather than later. Can't wait for them to start bottling!

Pfriem was the highlight of 3 days in Bend and 3 days in the Hood River area.
The tasting room is nicely thought out, and the working brewery nearby only adds to the enjoyment and atmosphere. Though industrial, the vibe is very welcoming. It isn't hard to imagine this brewery becoming a mainstay in local events.
I only had a chance to try about 4 of the beers but every single one was stellar. I tried the Little Saison (spectacular), IPA (wonderful), Belgian Stout (very good), and the Mosaic Pale (amazing). No other brewery during my entire trip came even moderately close to what we drank here.
Sadly, the food was another story.
I ordered a plate of frites for happy hour and my girlfriend the mac and cheese. My fries were cold in spots and warm in others. I'm pretty sure they finished my fries first and let them sit until the mac and cheese was ready. Very sad, because they were lukewarm when they made it out to me. Worse still, my girlfriend found a few hairs in her mac and cheese. Adding to that, the mac and cheese was exceedingly boring. Oddly, the quality of the ingredients seemed very high, and the visual appearance of our food seemed to indicate it was well prepared ... but whether it was seasoning or something else, I can't say. Neither of our dishes were worthwhile.
When we brought the attention of the hairs to our server they went well beyond any obligation on their part. They comped us three beers and the dish, which was way more than we wanted and I felt kind of bad for it. I even asked our server if our check was correct and she insisted it was.
Despite the food experience I can't wait to visit again. I may eat at Double Mountain instead, but the beer at Pfriem (and conscientious service) isn't to be missed. Please chalk my vote up as a big ass "bravo"!
Also: I should add that prices are ok, but the two growlers I filled cost me $26! A far cry from the $8 per growler at Boneyard !

Had a chance to visit the Double Mountain expansion and Pfriem recently. I was stoked for both but didn't know what to expect from Pfriem.
The staff were attentive. Our server was super nice. The place was packed so we sat at one of the picnic tables outside. Not bad at all.
We had a cheese plate. Nothing special but the cheese was good. All great quality stuff.
We had a sampler. All of the beer was delicious. Well brewed and can only improve with time.
Space is beautiful. Great branding and craftsmanship. Took home a mini growler. The metallic ink is awesome. Check it out if you're in town!
