You wouldn't mistake this for an IPA after the first sip. It's hard to approach a review of this since it's really not a bad beer, but it doesn't seem to share the attributes of what an American IPAs seems to be these days. It's more on the malty side than a hop showcase.

A little fruity and rather malty. Some pleasant aroma of fruit cocktail and malt. A little grainy with a slight bitter edge. I don't taste much hop flavor, but there is some bitterness toward the end. Not too much carbonation in the mouth.

Really quite drinkable, but it's more of a Maibock than an IPA. Poured from the 12 oz bottle bought at Texas Wine Cellars in Fredericksburg, TX.

12 oz bottle pours a light amber with quickly dissapating head. Not much in the way of hops detected in the aroma - more in line with a American Adjunct Lager. Taste is somewhat bitter, but certainly no hint of citrus, pine, resin, etc that is required for the style. Malt backing is corny and watery. A decent "kick" on the finish but the aftertaste is astringent. If Lonestar tried to put out an "IPA" this is what it might taste like. Down the drain with this one.

Appearance: Hazy yellow, slightly amber glass holds a quarter finger white head that laces the glass in full curtains.

Smell: I tried not to be too disappointed. Light corn with a very muted earthy hop note, nothing near American IPA standards, mild even for an English IPA. A white bread yeast note also has a yawn factor.

Taste: Yeah, this is an American lager flying a false flag. Corn/rice base is too light to pick up the slightly malt liquor alcohol notes. The hops just aren't there, the total package is actually on the sweet side of balanced where it should be firmly into the bitter.

Mouthfeel: Watery with a sharp prickle of carbonation. Oily and hot.

Overall: Sigh, I got the full 6 pack. Well, I'll share it with friends and I was happy to see another brewery in the Republic. I'll try to find a Hefe in a single to give the brewery another chance, but based on this, it's going to be tough.

Pours a nice clear amber color, with a nice bubbly head that dies off relatively quickly, which is expected from most IPA because the oils from the hops don't usually keep head retention well. I was a little surprised though that I was not really getting much of anything on the nose. I was fighting to even pick up some malt. There was hardly any hop aroma whatsoever.

However, at first sip, I was introduced to every beer drinker's friend..Hops!!! Granted, it's not a palate wrecking hop bomb (I'm not sure what the IBUs is) but it's a nice bitterness that would probably please your average run of the mill craft beer drinker, and maybe even some marco drinkers as well. With that said, I'm sure most people on the West Coast would probably thumb their nose at this beer because they probably eat a bowl of hops for breakfast with Stone's Ruination IPA as the milk .*Sighs* The malt comes in at the end, with a nice relatively clean finish with a slight bitterness that lingers at the back of the tongue.

Overall, not an amazing beer, but not bad. It's not the best IPA I've ever had, but it's by far not the worst. At 6% ABV having a few won't absolutely kill you, but it's not the beer you would want to start your night with.

12 oz bottle pours a mostly clear, golden color with a miniscule wisp of white head, even with a fairly aggressive pour.

Nose is more malty than hoppy with light caramel and grains leading the way. No matter how hard I try, I cant pick out any hops...fail.

Taste is caramel malt, touch of butterscotch...and still no damn hops. This is weak sauce indeed. Amber ale, maybe...Pale Ale, meh, thats pushing it...IPA? Hellz to the no. Label says established in 2012...if they are not careful, they will be extinct by 2013. Mouthfeel is tannic, husky and undercarbonated. Basically this beer sucks, one of the worst beers from the lone star state, and thats saying something!

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, unknown bottled date. This pours a nice amber color with a short lived off white head which leaves a lacing. The smells are light a little caramel mild pine hops. The feel is medium. The taste is okay a little light you get the medium almost English ipa type of hops followed by some caramel malts.
