I just moved to Madison after living for several years in the Pacific Northwest. I was happy to see that nano-breweries are popping up in Madison as it is the new movement in brewing in Portland! It actually is the first nano I have been to and I loved the space. A great wrap around bar with table seating as well. Very friendly bartender and fermentation tanks are right behind the taps. They have several guest taps and while I was there they tapped a second of their own beers. They had a Kolsch and a breakfast stout while I was there. I also tried a really nice ESB, although I don't remember the name. One Barrel also carries local food stuff like cheeses, meats, pizza and pickled eggs (I had to try one as my mother used to make pickled eggs when I was a kid). Will be back I am sure, very cool spot in a great city!!

Local Madison "nano" brewery. Perfect for the location, it's always busy with good service. f the owner isn't brewing, he is bartending. They brew on site and have a few others contract brewed. They also have other local breweries on tap.
There is little focus on the food by design, but what they have is tasty and at a good price. I've been there a few times and always had a good time. The last time I had an employee approach the table (not our server) and ask if everything was okay.

I checked out the One Barrel Brewing Company recently and had a great time. The space is nice, with a slick wooden bar to sit at. Simple decor and one flat screen tv to watch.

I went during happy hour and tried their Amber beer. I thought the beer was very well made and priced well. Properly poured into a frosted glass which is always good.

It is nice to see an establishment such as this in the Atwood neighborhood and I hope they stick around for awhile. I look forward to going back there and trying some of their other beers.
