Had on tap at Old Chicago in Murfreesboro.Poured into a standard pint glass a slight chill hazed amber with a thinner white head atop.Aromas of piney hops and some faint lactic sharpness, the flavors were much bolder than the aromas with a good shot of pine resin from the hops and spice from the rye. There is just enough malty sweetness to balance the bolder hop and rye flavors.A really well made hoppy rye from this newer TN. brewer.

Poured from tap into pint at 12south in nashville. Pours a seethrough almost orange color with nice foam. Piney citrus and sharp hop aroma...smells pretty nice. Lots of sharp hop flavor, but is mellowed by the pine and candy like hop. Bitter rye flavor is subtle but obvious...
Nice brew all around...id like to try more from Turtle anarchy.

Growler fill from Libation Station in Johnson City.
Poured into a pint glass, appearance is a very slightly hazy medium copper with almost a bit of a ruby tint.
The aroma is really wonderful. Tons of pine and citrus from the hops but also a nice malt base with a definite rye spice.
The flavor is extremely hoppy up front with significant bitterness along with pine/citrus hop flavor. Malt quickly rushes in with rye up front with some caramel underneath. There is even some very faint hints of coffee/chocolate. I can really tell there is tons of rye in this. Mouthfeel is very slick and oily. Carbonation is a little low although that could be a product of the growler fill.
Overall, a very impressive brew from a brewery I have never heard of. Awesome to see another Tennessee brewery and I look forward to trying more beers from Turtle Anarchy.

On-Tap at Mellow Mushroom in Franklin...
Appearance: Amber, small head, clear, decent lacing
Smell: spice and big piney hop smell
Taste: Extremely hoppy taste, not too much malt or rye detected.
Mouthfeel: Medium thickness, light carbonation
Overall: Tasty hoppy beer, glad to try out the new local brewery.

Aroma is spicy as would be expected in a rye beer, with some pine notes....overall quite a hoppy nose.
Has a dark golden appearance in the glass with a small head. Clear, as expected.
Taste has a decent amount of rye spiciness but it isn't quite as pronounced as one may think. This beer has 60 IBUs, as I was told by the brewmaster, and they're certainly present without being overwhelming. I'd say bitterness is about on point, with a pine character to them...I didn't ask which hop varieties were used here. Nice, dry finish.
I could probably use more of a rye spiciness when having a rye beer, since it's really a distinct taste that I enjoy...but this is a solid IPA with just about the right amount of bitterness that could be a good fall back beer.
