500ml bottle bought from Clarkes of Whitby...

Poured a deep dark ruby red / brown colour... Creamy tan head poured fairly thick then faded to thin wispy layer.... no real lacing

Aroma - Nice strong chocolate maltiness, coffee notes, malted milk, toasted bread, smoky / dusty notes, some dark fruits (sultanas, figs, some blackcurrents), faint liquorice notes, spicy, nice peppery hop bitterness...

Taste - Definite chocolate maltiness, toastiness, watery black coffee, nutty sweetness, milky notes, fruity (blackcurrents, plums), peppery, strong earthiness, very light bitterness, faint sourness, light metallic notes...

Feel - Pretty smooth.. Medium bodied. At 4.4 % an extremely quaffable ale...

Overall - A pretty good and nicely balanced mild... well worth a try...
