Style | ABV
American Pale Ale (APA) |  6.33% ABV

Availability: Year-round. on-tap (1), bottle (1)

Notes:
It is a mildly hoppy pale ale using a 2 row pale base malt and several other specialty malts for body, color, and head retention. It is hopped with American west coast hops later in the boil giving it a nice citrus hop flavor and mild aroma. Slight addition of a roasted caramel malt gives "633" it's signature 'sunset over the harbor glow'.

Out of the grumbler bottle and into a standard pint glass:

A: hazy golden brown body that leaves a small one finger white head that lasts for about thirty seconds. Some spotty lightly foamy lacing trickles the sides of the glass. Some soft light carbonation is seen rising.

S: balanced between the hops and the malts. Some pines come out as the beer warms.

T: the malts are a bit in front of the hops, just ever so slightly.

M: light to medium with nothing harsh on the tongue - a good standard APA mouthfeel.

O: this is a good beer that is good this time of year (pretty light and slightly refreshing). I would definitely have again, very solid.

Picked up this growler at the brewery on July 2, 2012; I think they have only been selling growlers since 6/26 – so its pretty fresh! I was told that the 633 is the area code as well as the abv…but they had a better than expected mash…anyway, excited to be in the right place at the right time to grab this... Poured from growler into New Belgium globe. Pours a slightly hazy rusty orange like honey color. Really nice floral fresh hop aromas, and according to the brewery rep, its dry hopped for 3 days with 4 diff hops. Very nice balance of fresh hops and malts. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter, but nicely balanced. It has a huge presence for a Pale Ale. Again, according to brewery rep at the establishment, they had a more efficient mash than expected, so this 633 (6.33) turned out to be a bit closer to 7%abv. Overall, this is a great Pale Ale and its too bad they are nearly 6hrs from my door, because id be excited to try more! Good luck to you guys!
