On tap at Church Key last night. This smelled and tasted nothing like John's review right below mine, but given that it was deemed fine for the finest beer bar in DC, I'm going ahead and reviewing it.

The beer looks gorgeous. Light yellow, dense, white head, excellent lacing, all hallmarks of a good beer. The nose, OTOH, is awful. It smells like the material used in diapers to soak up pee, and slightly used to boot. I get no salt, no coriander, no funk. The palate is also just way, way off. Downright terrible, this also does taste like a peed-in diaper. Light in body and moderately carbonated, I guess the feel is decent for the style, but boy, is this gross. Four of us couldn't finish a 4oz pour.

On tap at Max's.

The beer pours a fairly light gold color with pretty decent head retention and lacing. The nose is likewise attractive, as I pick up clove, orange candy and some light cookie dough. The flavor profile replicates the nose, and just seems a bit odd. There is considerable orange juice citrus on the palate, coupled with the cookie dough flavor. Despite the modest sweetness, the finish is generally dry, with a hint of sour. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a wash of orange juice and light sour at the end.

Not bad, and God knows it's nice to see more gose being made here on the East Coast. However, I'm not sure this is one beer I'll be ordering again any time soon.

Tried side by side with the new gose from Flying Dog and, well, this beer didn't fare well by comparison.
