A Baltimore Original

This generously hopped pale ale is a strike in your mouth! Brewed with lots of Pacific Northwest & New Zealand hops this beer is ten frames of big citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavor. A strong malt backbone rounds it out and makes this pale ale a delight for the senses. The pins may be small but the flavor is huge! In our town, we roll Duckpin—a true Baltimore original.

BITTERNESS (IBU): 55
COLOR: Pale orange
MALT: Pale Ale, Wheat, Munich
HOPS: Columbus, Cascade, Galaxy

Had for the first time on tap at Golden West a few months ago...and had to have two more! Haven't seen it anywhere else since, so I walked over to the brewery for a growler.

Pours a slightly hazy, amber color. Somewhere between orange and brown, but more orange. Smell is slightly hoppy, slightly malty, citrus peels. Taste is about as perfect as an American pale ale can be - well-balanced but leaning to the hoppy side with a splash of earthy orange. Felt nice going down. Medium body but still a thirst quencher. Overall I think this is how an APA should be - hoppy and refreshing with a touch of sweetness. Cheers, Union!!

Canned on 7/11/2023. Poured into a pub glass. It pours a cloudy, honey-orange color with two fingers of creamy, bright white head and lots of thick, clinging lacing inside the glass. A very attractive pour. The nose is a nice blend of sweet malt, lemon peel, and grapefruit rind. Its taste is on the dry, bitter side with tart citrus and a fairly sharp hop bitterness throughout. The mouth feel is lite and crisp with pleasant carbonation, and it's an easy drinker at 5.5% ABV. I'm a great fan of Double Duckpin but the O.G. Pale Ale is a fine beer in its own right. Lots of flavor and crushable is a great combination.

DATE: April 17, 2022... OCCASION: the end of a nice Easter with a beer I had in Rehoboth... GLASSWARE: Otto's pint... pours a golden orange body with minimal effervescence, its frothy white head a two-fingered looker that settles into a soft, uneven blanket... it rings well.... orange, grapefruit and mango meet with aromatic flowers and pine render a soft, inviting aroma... nothing dominant, with the malt faintly suggesting spiced bread... the body is medium-bodied, well-balanced, energetic enough at the teeth to engage... lively effervescence, smooth finish, and a light, lingering presence on the tongue... orange, grapefruit, and citrus evenly distributed over the amicable base of bread malts... hop-forward, the floral notes are pleasing, with pine amply applied here... overall, a solid pale that I would revisit when in the are--a Baltimore original makes it all the more endearing...

12 ounce can poured into a tumbler pint glass.
Canned 07/06/21

Pours clear and gold with chill haze. Topped with a half inch of white foam that sticks for a minute or so before receding to a ring. Getting pine and citrus in the nose with some fruity esters underneath. Tasting piney and resinous with a clean bitter finish. Soft body, medium carbonation, only slightly crisp. Easy drinking and enjoyable. Nothing fancy, just a solid APA.

Clear orange appearance with a large white head and good lacing. Aroma of citrus and assorted fruits with just a touch of pine. Flavor still features the citrus along with a solid underpinning of piney, resinous hops. Malts are more subtle but seem to be doing a good job of adding balance. Medium bodied mouthfeel finishes clean, crisp and dry. A local favorite that hits all the right notes.

Phenomenal head with sheets of creamy lace. Nice standard color and clear.

Strong citrus, pine undertone, mango, and pineapple.

Just a solid pale ale, with strong grapefruit.
