look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 2 | feel: 3 | overall: 2

Appearance: Medium copper color with one finger of head that fades to a thin cap with a decent curtain of lace.

Aroma: Sweet and grainy with hints of brown sugar and lemon.

Taste: Sweet and fairly thin upfront, then mild bitterness and decent carbonation in the middle leading to a fast, clean and uninspiring finish with a touch of lingering graininess.

The Rest: Hugh letdown. Back in college, Bass was a real treat, and I definitely don't remember tasting this poor. I would have a hard time in a blind taste test telling this apart from Bud. There are countless Pale Ales out there that are better than this.

Additionally, it's not brewed in England anymore. It's contract brewed by AB in their Baldwinsville brewery. The label states that it's brewed in the finest British Tradition. I find it pretty dubious that there's much fine British tradition going on in Syracuse, NY.

Pours brownish with creamy head that fades quickly. fairly bitter initial taste with honey aftertaste. medium to light weigh and I remember it being heavier. Not much to say about this brew other than its just ok but a solid beer to get if a bar has it on tap.

Poured into a shaker pint glass. Reviewing the American version, brewed in NY.

Look: Clear light amber/copper color. The cram colored head recedes to a thin film with light lacing, if any sticking to the glass.

Aroma: Muted malts, subdued caramel sweetness. Tea-like faint hops.

Taste: A bitter, tea-like hop note filters over muted caramel malts. Not a whole lot going on here.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light in weight. Somewhat carbonated.

Overall: Very bland. Was expecting more.
