This has quickly become my go-to beer bar in Toronto.

The tap list is great both in terms of quantity and quality. There is always a good assortment of styles and breweries and often a few one-offs or harder to find beers from the local breweries. Not to mention, they almost always have Peche Mortel on tap!

The service is great as well. Bartenders are knowledgeable, talkative and friendly. As are the waiters.

The prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good as well.

Atmosphere is also nice. Not too upscale of a feel but also nice, clean and inviting.

When I visited: June 2012.

What I had: Cameron’s RPA, Beau’s Farm Table Saison, Great Lakes Barrel-Aged Robust Porter, and Nickel Brook Saison on tap, Lager & Jerk Mussels, white wine and Jimi Mac & Cheese for the lady, Beeramisu to split.

What I liked: modern pub atmosphere, friendly and chatty patrons, pleasant servers, first-rate draught menu, many private order bottles, tasty food, several taps that you rarely see elsewhere in Ontario (Le Cheval Blanc, Dieu du Ciel!, La Trappe). They now have 36 handles and 2 casks.

What I disliked: The service was slow during the soft opening, but has drastically improved since then. Bartender Matt is always up for good conversation.

Would I go back? Yes.

One owner is a former senior staffer at Smokeless Joe’s. Staff is experienced from the Toronto craft beer scene, know the regulars in the scene and are personable . Beautiful long wood bar is the feature of the place, and pleasant place to be. Latest and best beer available downtown. Slightly better prices than about town. Abundant parking, though not very close to the subway. Small patio, and several small tables just inside.Selection is from the new and best available craft beers, with state-of-the-art lines.
