I made a quick stop here to grab some beers to go. They were slow at the time so it was really nice and peaceful. The beer coolers to the left were full of singles at reasonable prices on to the far right there are more beers on shelves at room temperature. The selection was really outstanding. I was able to find selections from Cigar City, Pensacola Bay Brewery, Straight to Ale, Terrapin, Sweetwater, Victory, Stone, Blue Point, Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, and more. An employee asked if I was looking for any particular styles and seemed knowledgeable about beer. I bought about 30 singles (I'm a ticker) and received a 10% case discount.

We may be making another trip to the area in a few months and I'll definitely be stopping by again.

Located in a small strip-mall, however, it takes up two store spaces. They have several cooler doors full of a very good selection of cold alcoholic beverages. On the far wall is the selection of room temperature beers. They have two prices for each bottle, dine-in or carry-out. The carry-out price is about what you would expect but the dine-in price tended to be pretty pricey. This is a bit of a moot point because they have a very good selection on-tap.

I took my family in on Friday night around 6:30pm. There were about 10 people eating and drinking. Some sat at the bar while others sat outside at the two umbrella covered tables while others, like us, sat at the long common area tables inside. The service was very good. The food came out fast and hot and we never ran dry on drinks. We ordered two orders of Belgian Fries, and two 10" pizzas (Butcher Block and Pepperoni). My son ordered a bottled root beer and I had a Victory Ranch Double IPA from the taps and the ladies had water. The final bill was less than $45.00.

This place is not a family-oriented establishment in the traditional sense. It is basically a great beer joint with some pretty good pub food and, to top it all off, a very good selection of bottled beers to enjoy at home. The only (possible) con might be the small parking area. I found a place right up front so I didn't have to look around. The strip mall has about 20 or so spaces and there are seven more on the side street.

I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family as a cool place to drink, gnosh and be merry!

Cheers!

I really like the bottleshop/pub combo idea and I think they do it pretty well here. 7 or 8 doors of mostly singles and a few 6-packs with a reasonable to-go price and a pretty hefty on-premise price-tag. I bought a bottle to go, but probably wouldn't pay the upcharge for any bottles to stay. There had a good number of beer taps (25 or more) that were fairly interesting anyway that made buying a bottle unnecessary to say the least. We didn't try the food as we just came to check out the beer. Table service was a bit inattentive, but it contributed to the laid-back vibe. This Hopjacks location seems like the slightly upscale version of the louder downtown "party" location.

The first bar of this concept in the area and they have done a great job bringing unique beers to Pensacola. The selection of brews is pretty amazing and they have about a dozen and a half of taps with beers not available anywhere else in town.
Hopjacks Filling Station is both a sit down bar and a "convenience store". They sell only beer and wine (a few soft drinks) no liquor and each bottle has two prices. The lower price is the to go price, you can mix and match buy one or a dozen beers to take home. If you want to stay and drink the beverage on site you pay the higher price and can enjoy a nicely appointed pub with charcuterie and cheese plates, personal pizzas and paninis.
Though I indicated reasonable prices, however, this is a higher end retailer so expect to spend some mula if you stay to drink and eat, but if you buy to go, there are actually good deals. If anyone is coming to Pensacola and want to stock up on hard to find beers along the Gulf Coast, this is a must do stop. Bonus, ALL of the staff know a lot about beer, several of the employees are home brewers and the manager writes the weekly beer column in the local paper, NO other bar in town has this quality of employees!
