Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lighter brown-chestnut color with a one finger of tan colored head. The head has a good level of retention, very slowly fading over time to leave some nice streaky lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma isn't as big as one may expect for a Weizenbock of 8.5 %. Aromas of a toasted malt and wheat along with some darker fruit smells of cherry and raisin are the strongest of the aromas. Other aromas of a yeasty smell as well as some spice aromas of clove are there as well. Some honey sweetness rounds out the smell overall giving a lighter Weizenbock smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet taste of cherry and plum with some wheat and bready flavors and a bit of roasted malt. The sweeter flavors seem to intensify even more with more dark fruit flavors coming to the tongue as the flavor advances further. Along with the increase in sweetness, so too comes some lighter yeast flavors more toward the middle of the taste. Some banana flavors as well as some spice of clove also come to the tongue along with the yeast, giving it a nice fruity flavor at this point overall. A little bit of an apple flavor as well as some lighter grassy and herbal hop flavors come to the tongue at the very end of the taste, and along with the other flavors and a little bit of a rum and honey taste, give a rather sweet, fruity, and nice darker heavy flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both are great for the big fruity flavors of the brew as well as wheat and roasted flavors, overall producing a rather nice creamy and enjoyable feel to the brew.
Overall –A fruity and sweet Weizenbock with nice big and thick flavors and a great feel. This is an enjoyable and robust brew that is nice for the cooler winter weather.

This is the best weizenbock from a US craft brewery I've had so far. It has the banana fruity esters, sweet malt, rum, and dark fruits along with a signature hint of honey. In addition, this complex bock has coffee, dark chocolate, burnt wood and friendly hop finish that does not destroy all of the other great flavors. Similar to the Neshaminy Creek Dunks Ferry Dunkelweizen times two or the Punkel Dunkel without the pumpkin or spices, this is exactly what I had hoped for in their weizenbock. Definitely more intense than an Ayinger, and more charred oak intensity than an Erdinger Pikantus. I will be drinking this whenever I can find it.
