Pours a rye bread brown with a etched surface of toasted cream foam. Smells of wood, hazelnuts, some grain, some flour, a bit of prune. Bitter, with some toasted grains, some dry charred character, a little bit of clove and alcohol. Medium on thin with moderate carb and a wet finish. Not very good.

Poured into a Nostradamus flute glass. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a fine half finger light tan head with good retention and lacing. Mild aroma of caramel malt, dark stone fruit, slight alcohol. Flavor is a subdued sweet caramel malt, dark dried fruit, nuts, Belgian spicing, slightly earthy. Finish is a bit bland, but malty. Nice medium body with some creaminess. The sweetness and flavor components make this lean more towards a Scotch ale than a Belgian, although there are some Belgian yeast and spicing elements here. Interesting, but not noteworthy.

Bottle poured in to tulip.
A - Very dark brown, almost opaque with an amber glow along the bottom. A thin layer of light brown head formed on the pour.
S - Dark fruit, raisins, clove, spice and a hint of chocolate.
T - Raisin, plum, chocolate covered cherries, spice, cloves and dark caramel.
M - Medium body but a touch thin at times for the style. Light carbonation.

22oz bottle, split, hill farmstead stemware
Muddy garnet - light tan lace, no retention. A "petite quad" - earthy, but sweet, light alcohol warming, brown sugar, tobacco, leather. A decent beer - no real wow factor, kind of reminiscent of a nice scotch ale.

Gigantic Brewing's 'The End Of Reason' @ 8.3% , a BSDA served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $9
A-pour is a caramel brown / amber in color with a small off white head leaving a minimal amount of lace along the goblet
S-pleasant , not overpowering , no wow factor
T-crisp tasting especially on the swallow has that Belgian earthness to it
MF-high carbonation , medium/full bodied , warms the body as consumed
Ov-ok/good beer , big beer
sample alongside Trappistes Rochefort 8 , Unibroue's 'Grand Reserve17'
& Lighthouse 'Belgian Black12 &'13'

Poured from a 650ml bottle. Pours a deep amber colour. Not much to smell as far as the nose of this beer goes. A little bit of dark malt aromas. There's a little more on the palate, though nothing too complex. It's nutty, sweet and a lot like a Scotch ale, heavy on the malt, without much hops. Almost maple syrup like. You could reduce this down and pour it over pancakes. It's a good hearty, vaguely Belgian/vaguely Scotch dark ale.

Deep near black with clear ruby highlights. Moderate head retention, poor lacing, great color.
Nose of burnt caramel, sweet dark bread, and molasses.
Sticky toffee, rum, molasses, slight hints of dark cherry and cloves.
Mouthfeel is a little sweet and cloying, could be dryer. Not terrible, but not terribly Belgian. To be fair, the bottle makes no claim about the style of the beer. A little more prickle in the carbonation makes up for some of the heaviness.
A bit unfair to call this a Belgian Strong when the Brewery makes no such claim, but the site requires categorization. A pretty looking beer with spot on coloring but lackluster lacing. Weak in the nose where strong dark beers have a lot of potential. Growing complexity on the palate, and a slightly cloying mouthfeel. Good, but not the best offering from Gigantic.
