Thanks to oregonskibum for this extra.
Pours like a stout but maybe a little less oily in texture, nice coffee head.
Smells of mild roast, chocolate, candied citrus, some piney hops.
Taste is more of the candied orange citrus character, sweetness and roast from the malt profile, not as bitter or roasty as some examples of the style, pretty well balanced.
Very solid beer, not the best or most memorable example, but nothing to complain about.

Poured from the 22oz bottle into a pint glass. Body is a deep dark brown with some garnet highlights, topped by a healthy light tan head that hangs around for the duration and leaves a thick coating of lace on the glass. Aroma is dominated by a base of roasted malt. Some mocha and a mild nutty character come throu alongside some sharp, piney hops.
Palate is a yin-yang between a load of rich, roasty dark malt and a pile of dank, piney hops. The malt is prevalent up front, with the hops rearing their head mid-palate. The malt comes back to the fore on the swallow, leaving a lingering roasty note on the finish. Body is rich and creamy throughout, coating the tongue and delivering the rich flavor very well. This is a bit bigger Than many CDAs on the market, but it delivers a huge, flavorful punch that's assertive yet well-balanced.

22oz bomber
appearance: served in a hilliards can-pint, ebony body - thick fluffy cola-brown foam with a nice sticky retention
smell: chocolate malt, green piney hops, hop resin, licorice
taste: The CDA style has made some strong strides this year and has turned into one that I really do appreciate - Gigantic did a lot of things right here. Nice chocolatey malt backbone, moderately bitter hops, pine resin, dry cocoa, licorice. Bipolar is what this style is all about :)
mouthfeel: on the lighter end of the spectrum, dry finish
overall: good stuff

It's black with a finger of tan foam. Smells of coffee, soil, resin, pine and some cocoa. Okay nose for the style, pretty standard. Flavor is hoppy porter: toasted malts, dry dusky flavor with a strong bittering addition and plenty of PNW hops - resin, pine, some BO. Medium bodied with moderated carb and a dry finish. This is an average beer in most respects.

Appearance is black with a tan head leaving heavy, foamy lace.
Smell is bright, minty hops, a little fruit, herbal. Dark, lightly charred hash, caramel.
Taste is heavier on the dark malt, it's basically just a cranked up American porter, or even an imperial stout - one can argue that point about the whole style , but this one clearly is not a showcase of west coast hops. On the other hand there is a resiny finish and aftertaste, leaving confused, muddled impression. Not bad by any means, just bi-polar.
Mouthfeel is thick, viscous, heavy.
Drinkability is OK. The more I drank, the more I thought of it like an American imperial stout, and in that vein it was fine, but was not what I was in the mood for.

Poured from a 650ml bottle. Pours a suitably black colour with a thin head indicating the big alcohol content. The nose is full of all kinds of savoury aromas: Moroccan olives, coffee, with some slight citrus and spice notes in the background. Big typical stout/porter flavours --bitter chocolate, coffee, molasses--but with some cooked blackberries as well. The hops get lost in here but it's still a tasty beer.

A: 1/2" tan head over black liquid.
S: Citrus, pine, grass, toasted malt and caramel.
T: Caramel, pine, lemon, grass, toasted malt and earth.
M: Medium viscosity and a medium level of carbonation. Somewhat dry.
O: Quite drinkable. Although not as good as Stone, that can't be faulted because this beer is up there as one of the better ones of the style.

Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a very dark brown, appearing black in the glass. Fine two finger light brown head with good retention and tons of pillowy lacing. Aroma of piney hops, toasted malt and a hint of chocolate. Flavor of toasted malt, light coffee, herbal hops and light chocolate. Flavors well integrated. Medium, creamy body. Looks and tastes great. A very nice Cascadian dark ale.
