A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a two finger high white head that slowly died down leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface. There is a moderate amount of carbonation.
S: There are aromas of bananas and bubble gum in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of banana, bubble gum and wheat along with some hints of clove.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate, rather smooth and has a moderate to high amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very thirst quenching and is quite refreshing. This would definitely be a good beer to drink on a hot summer day.

WOW.
What a great hefeweizen from germany!
I was a huge Paulaner Hefe Weizen naturrub before this beer. I liked this Schofferhofer alot more because it does not taste as heavy ( fruity ) and it has a very crisp clean finish to it.
With the right pour in a freshly rinsed 500ml Weizen glass( very important ) this beer goes an amazingly long way. Its one of the least expensive Wheat Brews we have here in Winnipeg and it honestly can be called better than the others.
It does not lack the taste such as the more expensive erdinger weissbier ( HELLES )

Now to the beer
Like i said it has the perfect mix of fruit and yeast taste, not overpowering in any way.
A very nice fluffy white head and a very light orange colour.
Smell.... Delicious.
This beer is easily a great for the summertime with barbecues or just hot days in general. Pair this beer with a lovely Weisswurst and you can't go wrong. I guarantee it!

Also A little tip on pouring a hefe weizen - Put the glass overtop the bottle, flip then slowly pull the bottle outside the glass as the beer slowly flows in. DO THIS SLOWLY or it will overfoam and you will make a mess. Youtube this before you do it and practice makes perfect!

Pours a hazy golden colour with a white head, not much retention, and minimal lacing. Watery taste with not a lot going on save a bit of yeast, there is an aroma of banana and clove, with a slight metallic aftertaste. Coats the mouth and pallet and hangs around in your mouth. I have a feeling that this beer might be different had this been on tap in Germany, but as it is, a beer that is not bad, just okay.

Had this one several times before, but never had a chance to review it.
Pours a honey-amber apricot color. Good murkiness, medium carbonation.Nice head, creamy, thick, settles leaving lots of lacing. Nice looking Hefe.
Smell is a bit dissapointing. Light sour fruit, orange,yeast and tart citrus, but overall quite watery. The depth of banana-clove-funky/tartness found in better examples simply is not there.
Flavor is tarter than expected. Sour orange, grain, almost a butter-milk like sourness. Reminds me a bit of cider. Again, overall finishes a peppery and carbonated, but a bit weak and watered down.
The tart finish is nice, but the overall weakness of the beer, especially when Weihenstephan is the same price, will prevent me from buying this one again in the future. Decent, but nothing special.

Nice beer, not great but quite nice. Poured with a decent, fine, foamy, white head that never quite disappeared and some lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is like standard Bavarian hefe weizen: spice, citrus, grain, malt, fruit, yeast. Flavor is like aroma with a little sweetness coming out through the sip. Body is good and so is carbonation. Finish is like flavor and has good length. Easy drinking beer. Session.

A: Cloudy light orange-colored with an enormous white thick compact creamy head. Extremly slow dissipation leaves very rich lacings and a nice crater.

S: Wheat, ripe bananas. Some sweet malt. Spices and yeast together with citric notes.

T: A nice balance between the sweet and the spice. Ripe bananas, not to sweet. Wheat. Citric notes and perhaps some bitterhops.

M: Aftertaste is surprisingly long, sweet at first and then bitter. Body is light and carbonation is moderate. Refreshing.

D: A nice Hefeweizen that's a bit drier than others. Not bad, not bad at all.

A:Completely opaque orange hue but clear to light, with white foam head of good size, continuos carbonation made of tiny bubbles.

S: Aroma of wheat and a touch of lemon and orange

T: Sweet taste with hints at the beginning, they become acidic and bitterness, it always taste Citrus and wheat

An excellent hefeweizen, if you have not try this, give it a chance!!

500ml bottle poured into an Erdinger weiss glass. First review in quite a while!

Pours a hazy yellow-orange colour, nearly opaque with sediment. Medium-low carbonation evident in the glass, and the massive creamy three-finger Hefe head that I expected to see. Aroma is a bit flat. The typical banana-clove aromas are there to be sure but muted and a bit deader than expected.

The flavour profile is muted as well. This is a very light-tasting hefeweizen. A slight touch of lemon sourness greets the tongue, then moves on to a watery mess that has the typical hefe flavours but muddled and nearly indistinguishable. Watery and light in the mouth with a medium-low carbonation that does little for the beer because it doesn't even mask the fact that this is a bit of a mess. Drinkability is high on a hot summer day, but there is many a hefe I would buy before this one.

Poured from a half-litre bottle into a small pilsner glass.

A: Pours a hazy, dull yellow with a beige tinge. Thick frothy head dissipates quickly. *Lots* of bubbles.

S: Smells of sour yeast with lighter notes of wheat and faint, faint clove.

T: Better than expected! Heavily carbonated wheatiness supported by much lighter spice. A pretty standard hefeweizen. The anticipated banana flavour was barely present...until I burped. Aftertaste is light and enjoyable.

M: Carbonated and light. Initial sharpness diminishes into a watery-smooth flavour.

D: A very drinkable wheat beer. Pretty good, but nothing special.

Having this in Hamburg right this second.

Apperearance - typical cloudy weizen

Smell: light & airy, nothing bad bu nothing stands out either a little citrus, maybe hints of other, but hard to detect

Taste - again, light & airy, nothing overwhelms or surprises your. Nothing tastes bad, but nothing tastes exceptionally good. Nice malt finish though.

Mouthfeel: The one negative I find while drinking is a flat taste on the palate. Despite lots of "lace", no effervescence feel on the tongue.

Drinkability: One could down this like water. Probably very refreshing on a hot day, but its not hot right now in Hamburg.

Poured from a 50cl bottle into a 50cl tall glass.

A - Very cloudy dark golden colour. About a finger of head.

S - Banana, pear and peach. Slightly tangy.

T - Fairly smooth at first but with a bitter and slightly sour aftertaste following very closely. Soothing on the way down. Typical wheat and various fruits in the taste.

M - Quite bitey on the tongue. Bitter and sour at the back of the mouth.

D - Enjoyable and fairly easy to drink.

A solid wheat beer if not mind-blowing. Has enough variety to keep you interested but isn't overly complex so can be consumed without any trouble.

Served on-tap in the Romer District of Frankfurt.

Color is a hazy gold with a nice head. the aroma is of grain and slightly sweet. The taste was of wheat a bit of sweetness and finished a bit bitter. Has a medium body and somewhat refreshing. Nice beer on a summer day. A nice change from all the pilsner.

.5L emptied into a Weizen.

A: Pours a cloudy orange with a creamy 3-finger white head which receeds to a thick ring. Some lacing in the upper third of the glass.

S: Under-ripe bananas, citrusy, damp wheat, yeast.

M: Medium bodied with mild carbonation.

T: Wheat malt, barley. Mildly sweet, but without any real depth of flavor. Dirty finish, slightly hoppy aftertaste.

D: Mildly interesting Hefeweizen. Certainly not the class of the field, but drinkable and cheap.

BBE 08. 2010, into tulip. The pour gives birth to a murky apricot orange-yellow body overlain by rather thin yet firm white head that drops to a lingering coarse coat. Sniffing reveals banana esters, bubble gum, clove and wheat. Bready flavor, slightly citric with prominent hoppiness (for a hefeweizen) leading into bitter finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent but not impressive.

500ml bottle from Aldi.

Looks like pineapple juice with a head. There are hints of pineapple and banana along with oodles of chalk in the nose.

Surprisingly tangy and sweet to begin, reminding me of bubble gum. The yeast takes a very long time to make itself apparent and even then isn't particularly significant. Could do with a little more hop bite to give it some edge.

Have had this beer on tap in Frankfurt Airport, and also in bottle form at home in UK, purchased in a local supermarket.

Appearance is good and typical of the German Hefe Weizen style, though aroma is less pronounced and "fruity" than most other German Wheat beers. This is reflected in the flavours. It has a thinner and much drier taste and texture than the best German Wheat beers, lacking in depth or complexity, though is refreshing. Very little of the cloves and banana hints as in most Wheat Beers, just a dry crisp character that in the end is rather bland and uninspiring. Whilst this would be refreshing well chilled on a hot summers day, it is hardly inspiring or grabs your attention to want more.

There are so many other far better German Hefe Weiss beers than this, Schneider being my favourite, followed by Andechs, Paulaner, Aying, Erdinger, Weihenstephen, Weltenburger, Karg....not necessarily in that order...and many others.

The brewery address seems to indicate that Henninger Brau beers are also brewed on this site, non of those being particularly good either, so it seems to be an "industrial" brewery complex!

This is B level Hefe compared to Paulaner et al as it lacks real complexity and has too much carbonation. I got the banana nose but the beer seemed watery and ill focused. Not worth the purchase when there are so many better German Hefe's available on the shelves

Looks the part with a bright, golden orange body and a creamy, ample 2 finger head. Nose reveals the typical banana notes mixed with some clove and spice. A bit of huskiness there too. The flavour is true to style but a touch lacking. A little watery at the back. Doesn't have the same creamy smoothness you find with some other top German hefs. Good, not great.

500ml/16.9oz. bottle with a pumpkin colored label with the name of the beer in black old school italics. Above the name are three gold coins with the man himself, Schöfferhofer in the larger middle coin. At the bottom are two flags with the letters "A" and "X" in them and with somebody's signature over them. The back label has the word "beer" and the ingredients in about 100 different languages. At bottom in a gold rectangle is a born on and a best before date. My bottle was born on 14 Jan 2009 with a best before date of 14 Jan 2010.

I wish I had a Weizen glass available for this beer, but I only had a pint glass at my disposal. This Weizen poured the usual hazy lemon yellow color. Nothing all that special about that, but on top was the type of head of foam that makes keep coming back to the Hefeweizen style. On top was a 1+ inch pure as the driven snow fluffy as a kitten head of foam. This head of foam had great retention that left behind a number of clingy spots and streaks of white lace around the glass. Liked the color, but loved that head of foam.

This Hefeweizen absolutely loved the scent of malted wheat. It loved it so much that everything else was very subtle. Behind the malted wheat was a subtle whiff of ripe banana and cloves. If they had increased those two scents, that would have been a nice treat. After the two subtle aromas, the aroma finishes up with a dry scent of citrus fruits. Not bad, but it could have lowered the scent of the malted wheat to let the other aromas shine a little bit more.

The aroma was pretty much the same as the taste. That's too bad! The taste kicked off with a big rich taste of malted wheat. This malted wheat will then roll into an extremely subtle taste of banana and cloves. After that, the beer will suddenly finish up with a dry taste of black pepper and citrus fruits. The taste was only average at best. The malted wheat level was fine, but where are all the spices, banana, and cloves. I don't know, but this taste sure needed them.

This was a light bodied Hefeweizen with more than enough carbonation to keep you entertained and a dry malted wheat aftertaste. Tied into the wheat was was a subtle pinch of cloves and banana.

It's not a bad Hefeweizen, bit I've had quite a few better German Hefeweizens in my time. If you're a fan of real German Hefeweizens, then it's probably best you stay clear of this one. It was mostly all about the malted wheat with nothing much backing it up.

.5 l bottle poured into my Supra tumbler, Schofferhofer Hefeweizen is hazy, sunset gold with a large, fluffy white head, slow to recede, leaving nice hunks of foamy lace.

Smell is on the mild side, but estery, with over-ripe banana and cloves.

Taste is good, more banana then clove, but a definite spiciness. There a bit of a sharp bite to this weiss, and the finish is grainy. Also like the nose, it's on the softer side overall.

Mouthfeel comes off a bit flabby and flat, although there is some creamy carbonation if you swish it around. Medium light body.

Drinkability is fine, a decent hefe, but not great. I prefer more banana, less grain, and more smoothness overall. Increased spritz would also help.

Pours a pale orange-yellow with voluminous white head whose bubbles are larger and more visible than I'd have thought; sinks steadily and gets an uneven, meringue-like surface. Lacing is extremely minimal. Strong cloud in the beer and steady bead. Looks pretty nice, not outstanding though.

Nose is very weizeny, pleasantly so. First smell is sour and quite hoppy, with a lot of herbal phenols; sage and coriander hints on there. A closer whiff gives a pleasant banana aroma and maybe a hint of kiwifruit, with a slightly acidic edge and a very mild clovey spice. Decent, definitely. A dense and layered aroma.

Taste is quite a sharp one, there is a lot of bite from a number of sources. Strong fruit on there with a distinctly underripe character: bananas, green grape, Granny Smith and strawberries, all in their green, tart glory provide a robust acidity on the mid-palate. It doesn't pucker, although there is a slightly acerbic zest on the tongue. Some nice herbal phenols on the back finish the palate with a pleasant spice character, not quite as spruce or pepperty as it might have been, but still lively and leaves dryly. There is a slight hint of booziness towards the back, gained more from spice and tart flavours than any discernible alcohol, but it gives it a pleasant warming texture as it goes down.

A decent hefeweizen, this. Drinks a bit drying and tart, but is pleasantly textured in terms of flavour and certainly holds your interest.

Pours hazy yellowish/orange with dense and large slightly off-white head that slowly diminishes and stays in one finger thickness till the end of the glass, nice dense patchy lacing. Aroma is bready yeast, sourish banana, oranges.

Taste is a bit bready and lightly sour that disappears pretty fast, hints of yeast, but not too strong, sometimes feeling of light touch of bittery roasted. Mouthfeel is medium with average carbonation.

What can i say - a classic Hefeweizen but not my favourite - an Erdinger rather than an Ayinger I m gonna say:

A - A golden cloudy body with an orange tinge and very good head that doesn t just fizz away

S - Typical wheat beer smell - bananas, orange and clove but this one is a bit bready

T - Das ist sehr gut ja albeit not outstanding decent bananabread with spice taste but lacking in depth and not quite fruity enough for a Hefeweizen

M - High carbonation but pleasant big bubbles not fizzy and refreshing on the tongue

D - Yes all year round high drinkability

This pours with a big head from my over vigorous pours. Eventually settles down to a half finger which lingers. It's cloudy and dark golden.

The nose - there are some bananas in there trying to get out but it seems a bit dumb for a hefe.

The bananas come through a lot more on the palate.

Medium to high carbo rounds it out in the mouth.

Plenty of length and a good zingy bitterness.

The appearance is deep gold with some hazing and a nice head. The smell is malty and lightly spicy with a touch of clove and bubble gum but hardly enough of it. Not to mention there is no banana. The taste is like the aroma and isn't bad. It tastes alright but it does not taste like a hefe. The palate is right for the style. Overall it's quite drinkable but it's not true to the style.
