oddly for a beer which is so impressively cloudy the taste itself is quite tart and sharp. A long lasting white head lurks on top of a beer that hides whatever is on the other side of the glass. Refreshing wheat flavour with little to no lingering bitterness and a tingle to the tongue as it goes down.

Pour this very slowly - serious white head with a lot of lace staying. Slightly cloudy and a light amber color. Some yeast stays in the bottle. Very good hefeweizen, smooth, medium bodied, good summer ale. Good mix of hops and malt with a slightly hoppy finish. Wheat flavor but not overpowering.

The beer pours with a very rich thick white head. The liquid is slightly cloudy and dark yellow. Exceptional in all aspects.

The aroma has slight cloves but no banana aroma. I could not detect any hops.

The flavor has bananas and light cloves. With every mouthful, the banana flavor increases and improves. The wheat flavor is present. There is a tartness that is not from hops and the carbonation plays with the tongue.

The mouthfeel is creamy and full of carbonation.

I LOVE hefeweizen and find this one of the finest I have had since coming back from Germany last May. I would recommend this beer to anyone looking for a great wheat beer.

The orange labeled Hefeweizen has a yellowish orange cloudy color. The nice and creamy off-white head has pretty good staying power with a little cream at the bottom of the glass and produces a maze of lace from the rim to the base. The back label shows to pour most and then swirl the bottle to pull the sludge off of the bottom and then finish your pour. I tried it without the swirl and with the yeast mix and did not notice much of a difference. A soft fragrance of spice and citrus builds the anticipation for the fruit/spice flavor that goes down smooth with a touch of bitterness towards the end. I found this German Bier to be very drinkable and tasty. One with which I will build a lasting relationship.

A middle of the road German wheat, which is not a bad thing at all, light, sweetish, fruity (banana), bubblegummy, but not overly so of any of these, very refreshing aswell, not overly interesting, but highly drinkable.

On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a hazy bright orange hue with a three finger frothy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured mild esters and a touch adjunct like sweetness.

The taste consisted of a subtle wheat spice and touch of esters.

The mouthfeel was toward the thinner side of the style with dome chewiness.

Overall a serviceable hefe.

Served on a Mug at WOB's Oktoberfest. Review from notes.

A: typical Hefe in appearance. Cloudy golden/amber body with small foamy white head. No lacing present.

S: slight banana and wheat features along with a sweet fruity aroma. Very nice but a bit faint unfortunately.

T: this beer is yummy. It has a very strong fruit presence with banana leading the way followed by peaches. Wheat and clove notes are found in the taste as well.

M: very smooth and very drinkable. Medium carbonation with light to medium body.

O: a very appropriate Hefe for the occasion, as this one is a bit more light and on the drinkable side. Very good banana taste, makes for a good fest beer.

Served on-tap in branded weizen glass at 12 Apostles in Savignyplatz neighborhood of Berlin, Germany.

A: Creamy gold-yellow with tall 1-2 finger off-white head with nice retention and lacing down the glass.

S: Banana and clove are there but pretty light in comparison to others in the style. Herbal hopping is light.

T: The wheaty tanginess is more pronounced and melds well with the herbal hops and banana esters and clove components. It is an above-average weissbier but a very enjoyable brew enjoyed with friends.

M: Creamy and thick like the good examples of the style. Freshness no doubt helps in this category.

O: I liked this brew and it was a great accompaniment to great company to finish off a fantastic trip to Berlin.

A: Extremely golden color. Haven't seen any beers as bright as this one. Murky and cloudy with little to no head.

S: The smell is of light banana, some clove, and some slight spice.

T: Flavors of banana, bubble gum and wheat along with some hints of clove are about all you find in this brew.

M: It feels light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Rather smooth though.

D: Thirst quenching and refreshing, as are most hefes in my opinion.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a two finger high white head that slowly died down leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface. There is a moderate amount of carbonation.
S: There are aromas of bananas and bubble gum in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of banana, bubble gum and wheat along with some hints of clove.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate, rather smooth and has a moderate to high amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very thirst quenching and is quite refreshing. This would definitely be a good beer to drink on a hot summer day.

Having this in Hamburg right this second.

Apperearance - typical cloudy weizen

Smell: light & airy, nothing bad bu nothing stands out either a little citrus, maybe hints of other, but hard to detect

Taste - again, light & airy, nothing overwhelms or surprises your. Nothing tastes bad, but nothing tastes exceptionally good. Nice malt finish though.

Mouthfeel: The one negative I find while drinking is a flat taste on the palate. Despite lots of "lace", no effervescence feel on the tongue.

Drinkability: One could down this like water. Probably very refreshing on a hot day, but its not hot right now in Hamburg.

Served on-tap in the Romer District of Frankfurt.

Color is a hazy gold with a nice head. the aroma is of grain and slightly sweet. The taste was of wheat a bit of sweetness and finished a bit bitter. Has a medium body and somewhat refreshing. Nice beer on a summer day. A nice change from all the pilsner.

Have had this beer on tap in Frankfurt Airport, and also in bottle form at home in UK, purchased in a local supermarket.

Appearance is good and typical of the German Hefe Weizen style, though aroma is less pronounced and "fruity" than most other German Wheat beers. This is reflected in the flavours. It has a thinner and much drier taste and texture than the best German Wheat beers, lacking in depth or complexity, though is refreshing. Very little of the cloves and banana hints as in most Wheat Beers, just a dry crisp character that in the end is rather bland and uninspiring. Whilst this would be refreshing well chilled on a hot summers day, it is hardly inspiring or grabs your attention to want more.

There are so many other far better German Hefe Weiss beers than this, Schneider being my favourite, followed by Andechs, Paulaner, Aying, Erdinger, Weihenstephen, Weltenburger, Karg....not necessarily in that order...and many others.

The brewery address seems to indicate that Henninger Brau beers are also brewed on this site, non of those being particularly good either, so it seems to be an "industrial" brewery complex!

Served in a 0.5 liter ad hoc hefeweizen glass.

Appearance - light orange, cloudy, two fingers of head, nice carbonation helps with the retention (half a finger nearly all the way down)

Smell - Light citrus and orange, with a hint of grass. All in all, not much of a smell; in my opinion, the weak spot of this beer.

Taste - banana and orange, touch of nutmeg, light bitter aftertaste. Alcohol a tad too present, but still very drinkable.

Mouthfeel - rather creamy but not thick

Drinkability - enjoyable and drinkable, you can easily have a couple of these although the alcohol feels a bit too present for only 5% abv. All in all a good enjoyable hefeweizen.

This beer is made in the state of Hesse, and it makes a great wheat beer. It is the national group of Binding in Frankfurt. The orignial brewery site was the home of Peter Schoffer, a pioneering printer from the same deal as Gutenberg. This is very dry with a plummy, damsonlike fruitiness and a suggestion of grapefruit zest in the finish. It is widely available in Germany and can be drunk at any time of the day (trust me). It is one of my absolute favorite beers in the world.

Came out a cloudy bubbly pale gold with a 2.5 finger white head full of contour and body. The glass is covered with lacing. The nose is strong with sweet and spice. The mouth is very prickly and light. There’s lots of spice in the taste, very smooth, with plenty of yeast. There are some hops here, but very little. The aftertaste is spicey, with just a hint of a hoppy bite. This is a top quality brew.

Sampled on tap at Solber Fäss'je in Frankfurt.

This hefeweizen poured a cloudy, golden color with creamy, white foam that settled but left lace on the glass. The smell was mild banana and wheat with some yeast. The taste was mild banana, malt, and yeast with a slight sweetness. The body was medium and the carbonation good. There was a tanginess and a pleasant banana and mild caramel flavor that lingered. This was a good hefeweizen fresh near the source.

Strong wheaty, yeasty aroma with hints of lemon. Huge, white, creamy, rocky head; fully lasting. Very cloudy, almost a dark yellow. Good lace. Wheaty flavor, but not overbearingly so. Lightly fruity with a bit more bitterness than a typical hefe. Pretty good stuff that is regularly quaffed in Germany.

0.5l (in Berlin) ... a cloudy golden/yellow beer, crowned with a creamy, thick ringed lace. Notes of clove, light grain and yeast in the aroma.

Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Semi-sweet malt character with a mineral/steely backbone. Lemon/lime hop bitterness. Nutty suggestions, with a light rounding banana flavour.

A refreshing weizen, quite easily consumed, and enjoyed.
