I have never really had a desire to try this, but I saw it on tap at a bar, and gave it a shot. The appearance was not too shabby. A nice little head of foam that stuck around for a while, and a pretty orange-ish color. I took my first sip and was stunned, "is this really a bud light brand?" After not caring too much for Bud Light Lime, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had no idea that it would offer the orange/citrus flavor. The golden wheat name and bottle do not really hint at these flavors. I think it tastes great and I plan to keep some in my fridge at all times. The flavor actually reminded me of another AB product, that being Shock Top. It smelled fresh and went down smooth.

Bought for me by a friend at a biker bar. On-tap and served in the ubiquitous shaker pint glass.
A: Cloudy straw with a hint of gold. A foamy eggshell head sticks around longer than I was expecting. Leaves no lace.
S: Smells like a light beer that's had the usual corn and/or rice adjuncts replaced with wheat. The wheat gives the nose a touch of interest, but other traditional wheat beer aromas of banana and clove are absent. A light sweetness rounds things out.
T: More flavorful than normal light beer fare. The wheat adds a light dry bread flavor out of the gate. A light malt sweetness is hanging out too. Bitterness is very light and completely tasteless. Finishes quite clean.
M: The light body is grainy and could stand a bit more fizz.
D: I'll admit that I didn't go into this with high hopes. If I had to drink a Light Beer, I would actually choose this.

Had this on tap in New York City, mostly as a dare. Pours a pale orange colour with thin white head. Head retention isn't bad, traces of lace on the glass. Smells of mild wheat malt, with some grains. Very mild flavour. This is pretty much like a typical light beer, with some added wheat. I guess that makes this better than a light beer though. Really big carbonation made this harder to drink, but this wasn't awful or anything. I certainly don't plan to have another though.

Joined my wife and her friend at a bar for happy hour, and was presented with choice between this one and regular Bud Light. Having never had it, I gave it a shot. Poured a somewhat hazy golden color, minimal head. Aromas of wheat and a bit of orange. More orange on the palate, somewhat creamy and not overly carbonated. Not bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way for another.

I have had this on-tap and in a bottle. The differences are negligible.
Appearance- Unlike Bud Light, this wheat-based relative is not transparent; instead, it has a orange-yellow hue that is not "golden" as the name suggest, but is definitely darker than normal Bud Light. It pours with a two-finger head that quickly fades, leaving little lacing.
Smell- It gives off a light but pleasant aroma of grain and citrus.
Taste- As with most light beers, the taste is rather dull; however, this rises above some of the others by actually being somewhat satisfying. The citrus and grain hints are stronger than in the smell, primarily dominated by a wheat malt taste.
Mouthfeel- It feels a bit thin, which is to be expected. The carbonation is somewhat weak but still tingles. It comes in crisp and goes down smooth.
Drinkability- This beer is a step above the normal Bud Light. It is perfect for a cheap summertime brew. Given the choice between Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, and Bud Light Golden Wheat, this Golden Wheat is easily the most drinkable and satisfying of the three.

On tap in a 32oz plastic cup at Aqua Teen Hungar Force Live, on 5/5/10
Burnt amber/orange color. Somewhat hazy. Poured a thin head, so not much retention. Doubt the plastic helps anyway.
Smells boring; standard-fare macro cut with earthy wheat notes. A few hints of over-ripe citrus: orange & tangerine. Meh; could be worse.
Hmm...tastes like Bud Light cloaked in light citrus notes & wheat. Yeasty undertones. Mildly tart with bland spice. Sure it tastes better than its namesake, but there are still 25+ ounces left! Lucky me.
Lighter in body with decent carbonation - not too vigorous; seems well seated, I suppose. The finish is basically clean with adjunct residuals & tartness lingering.
Not good but not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Suffice to say I will never pay for this beer again.

Served in a bud light golden wheat shaker pint at a bar. The beer was free. Beer is yellow and hazy, kind of an orangish hue to it. Carbonation appears low and there isn't much of a head and no lacing. Looks OK I guess.
Aroma is weak overall but there are some esters in there but there is also this overall lagerish aroma that is a little offputting.
I'll hand it to budweiser, they are consistent whether they mean to be or not. There is a faint second in which I feel I can taste some hefeweizen flavors but its eclipsed by this doom of an aftertaste and grainy bitterness at the back end of the beer. Best served very cold as the beer got worse the longer I held it. Not the worst budweiser product I've ever had but its not a good wheat beer at all. At all.

Pours a nice yellow-golden color with very nice head and a bit of nice lacing. It has a decent scent, a bit of light wheat maltiness, although not very strong, and a nice semi-citrus and bubble-gum aroma that saves it. Decent taste, not quite enough thick wheat, but it is detectable, and there is a nice semi-spiciness and semi-bubble-gum flavor in the aftertaste that makes it more interesting. It goes down quite smooth.

Reviewed 12/27/2009 (Draft @ Famous Dave's, Chandler, AZ):
Pours a very murky, dark orange color body, small creamy white head, diminishing. Spicy aroma, some citrus. Not very strong. Orange smelling. Some sweet spices. Sweet spiciness, citrus, orange. Some wheatiness. Not too bad, not offensive. Letting it warm up more. Spicier, stronger flavors, citrus. Light, refreshing.

Appearance: orange/yellow in color, minimal head, medium carbonation, hazy
Smell: citrus with high lemon and some wheat
Taste: orange is the dominant flavor- lemon and wheat are also present
Mouthfeel: smooth, semi-sweet, medium carbonation, light body, very clean
Drinkability:This is a very clean version of a wheat beer and I can see how it would appeal to the masses. Due to its cleaness It is missing a little punch I like to have with this style. Still it is drinkable and I could have three. Not a bad effort, not great either.

Tried this on tap at Burrito Loco a while back and completely forgot about it until I found my notes at home (200 miles away from the bar that I had it at...) while visiting my folks for Christmas.
Pours a hazy golden color. High carbonation and served with a half inch head that quickly shrank and didn't feel like leaving any lacing.
According to my notes, this smells like a weaker version of Shock Top.
Again, my notes mention Shock Top, light whiffs of wheat and spices. A whole lot of nothingness...even for an AB brew kind of disappointing.
Mouthfeel is crisp yet smoother than the normal Bud Light. Drinkability is nothing special.
Overall, not terrible. Honestly I'd probably choose this over Shock Top just because if I'm not going to enjoy a beer I might as well watch calories, right?

On-tap at Sam's Steakhouse in St. Louis, Mo.
A: Decent, orange/golden color that you can't see through. There's an incredibly thin head, that leaves almost no lacing, but that's the only real downer.
S: Wheat up front, and thin there's some citrus underneath. It's actually quite pleasant, overall.
T: Pretty good taste. Follows the smell, except the citrus is more apparent than the wheat. Orange flavor is predominant, and unlike Bud Light Lime, I don't think it's artifcial.
M: Not too impressive, really. Thin body and weak carbonation. Was expecting more.
D: I could see myself enjoying a couple of these at place that serves macros.
Overall, another surprsing job by the fellows at A-B. The taste was the best part, and that's the important thing. I liked it with a slice of orange, personally.

Served in a pint glass at Champions in Highspire, PA.
A: The beer is a solid golden orange color, clear with a nice stream of bubbles in the center of the glass. A quarter-finger of head arrived with the pint but didn't lace.
S: The nose has just a faint whiff of wheat followed by mild citrus, not as much as Shock Top (for reference purposes), orange to be exact.
T: Wheat stands out, mildly tart, throughout the beer. Citrus in the form of orange cuts through the mild tartness, a welcome addition. Another surprise from A-B.
M: The mouthfeel has enough wheat to be noticed, a flavorful beer that doesn't overpower.
D: The beer is a nice surprise. I went back for a second glass.

On-tap 12/13/09 at Doherty's East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a light orange/gold color, with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is mostly of oranges, along with light malts, a little bit of wheat and a faint touch of hops.
T: The taste likewise is full of oranges with very little wheat and very little hops. The lack of hops isn't surprising, but the lack of wheat is given the beer's name. The malt character is thin. The after-taste is slightly sweet and fruity.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium-to-heavy carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
D: A little tasty especially if you like the strong orange flavor, goes down ok, not too filling, very mild kick, it's not too bad but it just isn't me kind of beer.

Was watching the Packer game last night at a local pub, after consuming some of the good craft offerings, decided to give this one a shot.
Came out a very murky dark gold with a thin eggshell-white head on top. Little retention, and even less sticky lace. Scents of orange zest, honey, and biscuits. The mouth was crisp and bubbly, but still held a slight pleasant creamy feel. Flavors of light citrus, honey-kissed breads, and sweet wheat. This was very sweet in fact. Could stand a bit more of a balancing bitterness, but what did I really expect from AB? Refreshing beer. All in all, this was a pleasant surprise. Nothing I would go out to get as there are obvious better craft wheats out there, but not bad.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy amber-orange with a good head.
Smell: Strong vegetal odor (the coriander is the culprit)
Taste: Mild wheat flavor overpowered by the celery like flavor of coriander. I did not taste any essence of citrus at all.
Mouthfeel: Crisp dry finish.
Drinkability: OK... a little heavier than your typical light beer.
I tried this beer on tap so I had never seen the label, e.g. didn't know about the coriander. They should have said "LIGHT WITBIER", which is what this beer tasted like to me. I'm not a fan of coriander in beer... tastes too much like celery to me. Luckily I was eating hot buffalo chicken wings so the celery flavor at least paired well with my food. I prefer the phenolic banana and clove flavors of a good German Hefeweizen.

This is horror in a bottle. The beer is completely concocted and adultered. Like every other 'Lite' beer, this is the result of chemical formulas and not of artistic brewing.
This smells like a skunk urinated in a wheat field. I hate putting fruit in my beer, but this deserves an ENTIRE lemon, if only to reduce the horror. I sent it back (waitress brought it because it was new and she wanted me to taste... bitch! lol!) and ordered a Shiner instead. And this was during my last week in Houston. Thank goodness I am in Portland and have dozens of local craft beers to appease me!

16 ounce pint - $4.00 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Lightly hazed, darkish amber body with a thin, fizzy-looking, white head that quickly peters out into a slender white ring around the glass interior.
Smell: Relatively light in the nose, with mild notes of wheat, spice, and basic lemon. Again, it is mild, but, thankfully, not totally vacant.
Taste: All the sweet tanginess you've come to expect from wheat, although taken down a few notches. Very small, very clean hint of grain. Nominal spiciness from the small hop character, but, then again, that could also be contributed by the addition of coriander. As it warms up, a lemony citrus character begins to emerge. Drying, effervescent finish with final touches of wheat and spice.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Sure, it's a tad fizzy on the tongue.
Drinkability: Truth be told, I didn't mind it one bit. While it may be dialed down a tad on flavor, but it's still reasonably tasty, and it makes for a fine thirst-quencher.

This should be interesting...
A: Cloudy golden color with very little head. I can see the carbonation steaming to the top, but it doesn't look like too much.
S: A lot of wheat is prominent here, along with some subtle hops and maybe just a hint of citrus? The smell isn't really anything special, but it's better than regular bud light!
T: I was pleasantly surprised here. Once again it's nothing special, but for a beer whose name starts with "Bud" it's not bad. Lots of wheat in the taste, just like the nose. Also some other grains and just a hint of sweetness. I was just glad that it had any sort of "reviewable" taste. Definitely a step up from regular Bud Light.
M: Not bad. It's fairly watery, as you would expect from a macro light beer, but the big wheat flavor also adds some decent texture. The wheat flavor also balanced out nicely with the amount of carbonation.
D: I have to say it went down pretty easy. This is definitely a step or two above most of the normal cheap "light beers" out there. I could drink more than one and not be too upset about it. The next time I have to buy some cheap beer from a gas station I might seek this out.

Pours a bright orange golden color with a little haze. Full frothy heads diminished quickly, no lacing. Smell is very faint of bread and citrus with hints of pepper. Flavor is a little more assertive than scent, but still very mild blend of grains, wheat and orangy citrus. Mouthfeel is bright, clean, clear and crisp. Overall i was suprised how inoffensive this was. It did not taste great, but just had a little something extra that keep it clean and fresh. Quite possibly targeted at a Blue Moon Light craving audience.

free on tap at grants farm.
pour was deep murky copper with a slight orange hue. nice fluffy white head
smell wasnt too bad, there was a bit of wheat with a touch of citrus, mainly lime.
VERY slight wheat up front with an artificial lime funk that made its artificial self known. it was overpowering in that it ruined the beer. there was not much of a wheat presence here at all, it was light and slightly bitter.
carbonation was actually pretty decent and it had a nice body.
i had two glasses, the first was just terrible. i figured maybe they had bud light light lime running through this line first and they didnt clean it. i stopped drinking that glass and went for another from the other tap. it was not as bad but there was still a fake lime flavor. i know the kewl thing with that crowd is a lemon slice in the glass so i am curious if AB (piss off inbev) added this citrus flavor to compensate for it. terrible decision.

Appearance - Pours a hazy golden color with a centimeter thick, white head that dissipates instantly. Leaves a nice lacing.
Smell - Coriander is most dominant. Along with citrus, wheat, and a funky bitter smell.
Taste - The flavor is actually very light, like watered down.. Citrus, wheat, coriander, grains, and bread. Has a slight bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied with medium carbonation. It's very crisp.
Overall - I wasn't expecting much at first but this turned out being a very drinkable brew.

This pours a hazy orange color. There's a minimal finger of off-white head, but doesn't stick around. I'm surprised and pleased that they didn't filter this, and for a Bud Light wheat, I think it looks good.
Aroma is a faint wheaty aroma, with a touch of citrus and spices. Again, it's nothing great, but for what it is, it's decent.
Same goes for the taste. It's not great, but there's a subtle wheat, citrus and spiciness.
It's light bodied, but there's something there in terms of substance.
Naturally, this is bottom of the barrel in terms of wheat beers, but for a Bud Light, it's completely doable. I can't say I like this, but it's better than you'd think, and it's nice knowing that if I find myself at a place that only does BMC, I have something that I wouldn't mind being forced to quaff.

A. Pours out a golden yellow hue with a thin white head that quickly disappears leaving no retention and very little lacing.
S. A faint citrus, and wheat smell.
T. The taste starts out with a citrus taste with hints of coriander followed by some bread, yeast and grains to finish the taste.
M. The mouthfeel is very thin and too watery, but still crisp, clean and refreshing.
O. A decent tasting beer and made quite well for a light beer.
