Appearance: 1/2 inch head, light gold in color, clear, high carbonation

Smell: berry and fruit

Taste: raspberries, blackberries, and a touch of grass. Can’t really taste the pomegranate.

Mouthfeel: high carbonation, light bodied, sweet with a slight bitter spike

Overall: A decent beer that is barely beer enough to not be a wine cooler. Not a fruit drink, but not the first thing I would go for. Of this series, it is probably my least favorite as well.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, beer is similar to a standard light lager in appearance; a clear straw colored beer with a bubbly, white head. The smell is nothing like a beer, very sweet and Kool-Aid like. The taste is exactly like the smell, very sweet and no apparent beer about it. Very fruity, actually tastes pretty good but nothing like a beer. The mouthfeel is very light with a fizzy carbonation and slightly dry finish. A drinkable "beer", would be good on a hot day but nothing a true beer drinker would be impressed with.

Pours straw yellow with a loud fizzy head that settles to a creamy, lasting cover. Some strands of lacing stick.

The smell is of raspberry and pomegranate - not too artificial or overpowering. Not much "beer" smell, even for a light beer.

The taste is of raspberry and pomegranate. Sweetish, but not too - and certainly not near the sugary sweet that a fruit malt beverage would be. A hint of fruit tartness balances the mild sweetness. Not much beer flavor - actually, almost none. Finishes abruptly, with nothing lingering into the aftertaste.

It's not too fizzy or watery for a light beer. It does have a certain smoothness to it that is beer-like, I suppose, though not really in a "crisp" way.

Much better than the regular Michelob Ultra - the "fruitiness" of it covers the nastiness of that. The body, also, is a bit different for a light beer. Thought it was going to be too fizzy or too sweet, but wasn't...really wasn't much of anything but some mild fruitiness with a decent smoothness.

The beer pours a clear, very light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is raspberries and bready malt, without much else. The flavor is pomegranate, raspberries, corn, bread and water. Not only is the beer very watery feeling, it tastes like a glass of water with a splash of fruit juice added to it. Medium carbonation and a thin, watery mouthfeel.

Saw a single bottle of this and thought what the hell, and gave it a shot.

Pours out light straw with a foamy white head that drops to a thick ring around the glass.

Smell. A very potent fruity aroma, tons of rasberry comes through as i can smell it a foot away. Smells much like a soda (like others had said) and really reminds me of a sweet cough syrup or those luten (sp?) cough drops.

Taste. lol, its interesting. The aroma and the taste doesnt exactly add up as the smell is dominant rasberry, but the taste is lacking a lot of flavor. The rasberry and pomigranate bitterness does come through though, and with the light flavor and ample carbonation, reminds me of mineral water flavored with rasberry. Aftertaste has an artificial sweetner flavor to it and the fruits disappear quickly.

Overall, I'm not going to knock this just because it is a lite fruit beer from michelob. As far as advertising what it is and focused on people who would normally buy this, i think they did a decent job (though they say ultra but it has over 100 calories and 6 grams of carbs...sounds more like a solid light beer :) I wouldnt want to drink more than one of these at a time, but the light flavor and the mild fruity sweetness and lack of bitterness makes this an easy chugger after cutting the grass. Not one i would stamp my approval on, but not one i would really cut down.

Found this at a Chicago area Jewel/Osco store on sale for $5.99 a 6 pack, so at that price I don't mind trying it. 12oz clear glass bottles with no freshness date to be found, which I thought was strange for a Bud product.

The bottle isn't the only thing clear about this beer. It pours a crystal clear pale yellow color that if it was any paler it would be water. With a hard pour you can get a 3 finger soapy looking white head out of it that will only last about 30 seconds and leave a decent amount of lacing. If you tilt the glass and pour slowly you get no head at all and no lacing.

Definite raspberry smell with the pomegranate not as strong. Nothing else is detectable.

This isn't very beer-like. It taste more like raspberry flavored seltzer water. There is also an unpleasant metallic taste to it. The overall flavor isn't that bad, but if you were hoping for something like a Belgian lambic, this definitely isn't it. Even the raspberry and pomegranate flavors don't taste like real fruit. It's probably just fruit flavoring. If there are any malts or hops in here I sure couldn't taste them.

The mouthfeel is as close to water as you can get without actually being water. Very light and lightly sweetened with a good dose of carbonation which does make it kind of refreshing and easy to drink. One word of warning however. Do not let this beer get anywhere near room temperature or it gets really awful. If you do want to try it, get it as cold as you can.

Crystal clear very light golden color. A quarter inch white head faded rapidly. Zero carbonation rising through the beer. Lacing is also non-existent.

Very sugary fruit odor rises to the nose. Raspberry dominates with the pomegranate flirting in and out. This reminds me of Kool-Aid. No hops to note.

Very light flavor on the tongue. The fruit presence is there but gets mixed with a light plastic note. There is a subtle watermelon hint on the back of the tongue.

Very thin. Carbonation make no real effort to show up on the tongue. Flavor clings lightly to sides of tongue.

Definitely a session beer on a hot summer day. Good to pair against a spinach salad with strawberries. A surprisingly average effort for such a light beer. Something to keep on hand to try and convert the malternative crowd.

"Light Beer with Natural Flavor" Rev. 7/8/09 Date on bottle "09127" 4.2%

In a clear bottle, first bad sign. It is a light yellow color, almost like urine from a person that is slightly dehydrated. I'm not judging until I try it. Pours crystal clear, light yellow with a soapy very white head that dies down quickly leaving nothing on the glass. Medium carbonation, I have never seen a beer this clear.

Strong, sweet raspberry and fruity nose. Smells exactly like a raspberry flavored soda, you can't pick out the beer at all. I guess that is what they are going for. The fruit aroma smells like real fruit, not syrupy or artificial. Very nice if you like raspberries and fruitiness. Keep in mind this is a "Pomegranate Raspberry" beer and should be fruity.

The taste is very watered down, not like the aroma, that prepares you for a really fruity taste. The beer is in the taste, but the light, typically Bud flavor is hidden in part by the fruit flavor. The fruit makes its appearance in the middle as it going down and tapers off leaving a pleasant beer aftertaste, clean and crisp. The fruit is very muted and does not overpower, as the smell would insinuate.

Kind of grainy/foamy in the mouth, medium bodied (surprisingly!) but a little foamy if you swirl it around in your mouth at all. Fills you up, this foaminess does.

It is light in all aspects: flavor, beer taste, fruitiness; making it very easy to consume. A good balance between beer and fruit, not one controls the taste. I have to say, I am not disgusted as I thought I was going to be. I could see a non-beer drinker actually liking this and putting down the Boones Farm to try something less sweet. Doesn't seem like there is much alcohol in there...just like a raspberry soda!

I disregarded the fact that this was a Michelob, as most people who reviewed it did not and thus decided it was going to be bad before consuming it. It's not that terrible, very drinkable, but shouldn't be considered beer.

Pomegranate raspberry? In a Michelob? Ok. I'll try to keep an open mind.

Doesn't look like much. Actually, it looks almost exactly like a normal Michelob. Can't say I'm terribly impressed. Smells almost exactly like a wine cooler. That syrupy sweet, overpowering chemical fruit-impostor scent is unmistakable.

Tastes ever so slightly fruity, and slightly astringent. Actually expected a lot more flavor from something that smells so strongly. It is, however, more enjoyable than actually drinking Mic Ultra.

Not sure what to make of this one. It's not undrinkable, but it's pretty far from being good. It's more a beer with no real reason for existing. One can only wonder what Mic was shooting for here.

A: Pours out to a flat and lowly carbonated presentation. Medium yellow color with a short lived foam head, and a total lack of lacing.

S: Strong indications of berries and mild malts. Slightly sweet, and mildly artificial. Still, it's got my interest.

T: Suprisingly well balanced for a light lager which dresses as a fruit beer; mild malt, traces of dry hops, a strong yet not cloying flavor of berries with a natural and mild sweetness. Quite nice.

M: Bubbly. Zesty. Sharp. Very crisp. Light bodied and goes down easy.

D: Average, but considering it came from AB, it's a step in the right direction. They're exploring new territory, which I commend, but why do this beer in a "light" format? Go full flavor and you'll have peoples attention. Worth trying. I could take it or leave it.

Michelob Ultra in general isn't the worst beer in the world, but it's definitely not the best. The flavor in this version of the beer is much stronger then say, the orange taste in Blue Moon. It tastes really good, but it's definitely a girly drink. Not as sweet as a sugary Malt Liquor drink, but it's still a fairly powerful Raspberry taste. I would recommend this if you're drinking with a female friend or something, as it is fairly easy to get down.

Over all, it tastes good, but it's a girly flavored drink... not a real manly beer, even for snotty connoisseurs.

I just recently tried some Michelob Bavarian Style Hefe Weizen and it knocked my socks off, so I went to Jacks to pick up a case of it. Two bottles were missing from one of the 6'ers, so I was thinking about what to fill the void with when I saw these barely-21 chicks each pick-up a 6'er of this stuff. "It's so awesome!", they said, so what the hell. I'm game. Pours out to a crystal clear peach-accented golden, forming a soapy white head which quickly dissipates into a tiny petri-dish scum of foam. The aroma is overwhelmingly fruity...no mistaking it, there is pomegranate and raspberry in here. It smells like Kool-Aid or raspberry Jello powder. It does make you salivate a little, I have to admit. The taste is really not too bad...basically like a raspberry soda pop with an afterthought of "beer-like" taste at the end. Bitterness is negligible, it's sweet, but not syrupy sweet. 107 calories...not too shabby. Goes down like water. Ice-cold, it's dangerous, but at 4.2%, very drinkable. I could have about 3-4 of these in a row, but would want a real beer to cap it off. Seltzer-water mouthfeel with a very light body and prickly carbonation adds a seltzer-water tart flavor in the finish.

It is what it is, and it's not too bad. Pretty decent actually. I would buy more of this for what it's worth to share with friends who maybe want something really light and refreshing. A spritzer of a beer if ever there was one.

I used to be into big beers... but my palate has changed over the years. Now I enjoy light, refreshing fruit beers. Especially after a long bike ride.

This brew is delicious! I'll be drinking many more this summer. It's just as tasty as other fruit beers, but not as heavy!
