24 ounce can
Served in a pint glass

A - It is gold in color and effervescent. I got about two inches of white head.

S - It is sweet smelling with some grain and grass aromas.

T - It is sweet with a grain-like taste.

M - Thin

O - If drinking a 24 ounce can on the way home from work were legal, I would do it. It is cheap and gives some bang for the buck.

This is from a 24oz can.

A- A slightly darker yellow than a Budweiser. Leaves a good amount of frothy head and a tiny bit of lacing.

S- Musky corn, alcohol

T- It tastes like a very corn forward beer and alcohol. Very little, if any malt. Metal taste. Once it warms up, the alcohol taste is #1 and the corn is even more evident.

D- I don't find this too drinkable, unless it's super cold.

M- It has a good amount of carbonation, light although slick.

O- Overall, I feel this is just a high abv% corn based beer with no malt in it. I thought it would be a nice malty malt liquor, but this was not the case. I'm pretty disappointed in this.

Enjoyed from a can into a weizenbier glass.

A: Deep yellow/ golden, moderate amount of streaming bubbles, no head to speak of.

S: Sweet, corn, small amount of booze, pretty mild on the nose.

T: Sweet, grain, more flavor as time went on,minimal amount hop bitterness on the end. The booze wasn't really apparent to me.

M:Light like water

O:For the style it's a decent malt liquor, pretty darn drinkable for the ABV. If your a malt liqour fan you would most likely enjoy this very much so.

Appearance - light gold body, with a stark-white, one-and-a-half finger head that sticks around for a while and leaves some lacing.

Aroma - sweet, adjuncty, no malt, and some alcohol.

Taste - Sweet, grainy, and a prevalent punch of alcohol. It's pretty well balanced, but I'm personally not a fan of alcohol-forward beers.

Finish - dry, crisp, refreshing.

Overall, it's good for a boozy, party beer.

Appearance - Pours a clear, perfect golden color with a half inch head that dissipates instantly. Leaves a nice creamy looking lacing.

Smell - Has an amazing aroma.. Very sweet, malty, lemony, and corny. After a few whiffs you can start detecting the alcohol though..

Taste - The high ABV surprisingly isn't as bad as I thought it would be. But it's still not enjoyable whatsoever.. lol. The malts aren't so present. All I really taste is corn and grains dominated by alcohol. Might as well go buy some liquor.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with high carbonation.

Overall - I'll never try this again. I didn't even drink half of a beer and I'm feeling sick to my stomach.

A - pale gold with a ton of bubbly, white head that has little retention

S - grains, corn, and warm

T - grains, sweet, metal, corn, alcohol, odd bitter finish

M - light to medium bodied, warm, decently carbonated

This is by no means a great beer, but when viewed by style it's not bad. It has some drinkability despite its off flavors. It's dirt cheap. If money's tight (like maybe you're a teacher and it's summer like me) then these are the kind of beers you look for.

Executive Summary:
It's a cheapo beer, for sure, but it's probably one of the best in its class.

A: light straw color, with a bit of cream-colored head when poured. this disspates quickly, though.

S: a bit of ethanol tang, and mild corny notes.

T: a teeny alcohol burn within a bit of pleasant light corn-syrup sweetness; fades into a slightly sour but still not-unpleasant malt aftertaste.

M: light and gentle, just a bit of carbonation sparking upon the tongue

O: If one's strapped for booze-cash, this here is the way to go. There aren't many US malt liquors that are good at all when enjoyed warm (as is my preference) -- this is one of them. That's a high accolade for such a cheap brew; AB has done something very right with this mass-market product, though I have a feeling the name might not be such a good thing down along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts!

Aroma is - hello? Aroma! I don’t get a whiff of anything that resembles beer. It pours a clear yellow with a fairly thick and fluffy white head, but this is the brew’s strongest point. Flavor is at least present, but it is just malty, no complexity or depth, and leaves a tinny aftertaste. Texture is smooth, a bit thin, and barely fizzy at all. I bought it just to try something different. At least it helps me appreciate craft brews.

24 oz can into a big ass chilled mug.

A - Golden straw yellow body. 2 finger white head dies down to some edging.

S - Sweet corn and grain.

T - Corn and grain. A metallic and medicinal finish. Alcohol. Why is there so much alcohol? Its so thin and light in flavor and then BAM. Alcoholic warmth.

O - Pretty standard malt liquor flavor that gets pretty boozy in the end. Not a great beverage, but damn this packs a punch.

Reviewed from notes.

A. Pale clear golden color with a brief spate of fizziness for a head, very minimal speckles of lace left behind as it recedes.

S. A brief moment of honeydew melon aroma that pulls back behind sweet corn and grainy mash aroma. No real alcohol hotness in the aroma here.

T. Somewhat boring and bland sweet malts with the fusel alcohol hotness that was missing from the aroma fully present in the aftertaste somehow. At least I didn't have to smell them.

M. Lighter side of medium body, medium carbonation.

Surprisingly good compared to most of the other malt liquors I have tasted lately. And that oddball honeydew melon smell was actually quite nice.

24 fl oz aluminum can served into a nonical Guinness pint glass in me gaff in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live. Expectations are extremely low. Acquires at a Ralph's market nearby.

Served refrigerator cold. Allowed to warm over the course of consumption.

A: Pours a two finger head of no cream at all, fair thickness, and impressive retention - for the brewery. Kind of fluffy. Otherwise, the retention is above average - a solid two minutes - really not too shabby for an 8.1% beer. Colour is a clear dark yellow.

Sm: Stale barley, some cream, and some dull malts. A mild strength aroma. Not unpleasant, but certainly bland and boring. Uninviting.

T: Some cream on the open and finish, with some bland malts as the foundation alongside slightly stale barley. Here's a beer from Anheuser-Busch that actually has a body - who knew? Dominated by a crappy artificial malt character. It's quite dull and boring, with nothing of interest structurally or flavor-wise. Some sort of crisp malt note is okay. Imbalanced and badly built, but not as bad as I expected.

Mf: Smooth and wet, with some stale cream, and a strange crispness. Overcarbonated. Too thick.

Dr: Hard to drink due to its low quality. Hides its ABV poorly. Very well priced if you're looking to get unconscious drunk. Might make a good frat beer. I wouldn't have it again.

That said, it's surprisingly unshitty coming from this brewery. A polished turd from AH.

Malty sweet malt bomb. Very thin mouthful. For 8.1 cant taste the booze. Malt covers the booze. Serve ice cold makes a difference. Can't beat the price $2.99 for a 4 pack of 16oz cans! This beer is a proper sessional beer when kicking back and hanging out with friends.

Poured from a BIG ASS can, fluffy white head that recedes fast and leaves little if any lacing.Crystal clear straw colored hue.

BOOZEY, in a bad vodka way, corny and livestock feed aromas as well.

Bad vodka blended with a grain based beverage, no hops or malt. Astringency abounds.

Medium at best bodied slightly slick alchol delivery system.

For the price I feel as if I had this coming to me, 2 beers worth for a buck what did I expect?

All this time searching and coming to dead end after dead end... does a decent malt liquor even exist? Hurricane isn't bad, but i'm gonna keep looking. Not the best name, probably just slightly less tasteful than Crazy Stallion, all things considered.

Pale orange, slow moving carbonation, served pretty cold. Rings of lace in the glass, thin skim across the surface that breaks after the first sip or two... not that it matters much really. Let's face it, you're reading a malt liquor review.

Smells like wet grains, slight musty dishrag notes at first. Minerally with a flash of apple sweetness. Alcohol is strangely and thankfully absent.

Flavors of apple and wet manila folders. Ritz crackers and vague sweetness. Light body and easygoing feel when cold. Dry and surprisingly clean aftertaste. Maybe not all that surprising, coming from AB: King of (consistently bland) Beers. Wonder what kind of adjuncts they threw in here to jack up the ABV. The cleanliness of this malt liquor is it's best asset, and it never becomes harsh like so many others. One thumb halfway up.

Poured into a pint glass.

It's yellow with high clarity and active bubbles. For as cheap as it is it has good head retention.

It's smell is negligable. Grainy? Straw?

It's taste is vaguely floral and grainy.

It's light bodied and watery.

OK, the first sip of this beer was torture. But it got a bit better as my tastebuds got used to the idea. In this small window this beer needs to be finished quickly, because as it warms it becomes awful again. It makes me feel young again, holding my nose to drink the first few.

Bought this at a "quick stop" convenience store in Festus, MO on my way to Bonne Terre. When I got to my destination, I pulled out my Hurricane High Gravity Lager and poured it. Appearance was average, it looked like a typical malt liquor. Smell was grainy. Taste was smooth, smoother than Steel Reserve. No alcohol burn like the reserve. It was slick and coated my tougnue perfectly. I'd have this again in a heartbeat.

High gravity awesome!

no need to give details just because of the style but this ML by AB is one of the best to pick up for the price and ABV. at only $1.29 a tallboy. this is the cheap way to party! the taste is cleaner than most ML and a slight note of real hops is tasteable! does not give the after alcohol burn that most ML do.

Big white head quickly dies into a pretty decent lacing above a clear light honey golden colored beer.

About all I could get from this beer was a light lemon and maybe a touch of alcohol in the aroma.

The taste is pretty much all sweet and lemony with a alcohol backbone. This light bodied beers' aftertaste is also lemon filled and leaves your mouth with this moist wetness.

Thanks to Chris (spycow) for this gem. Served, somewhat disgracefully, in a Darkness glass.

A - Quick-dissolving white foam settles to a razor-thin cap, thicker collar, and spotty lace. Largely transparent pale orange body. Surprisingly attractive for the style.

S - The smell is just terrible. Grain alcohol, plastic wrap, mineral water, cloying creamed corn sweetness. Not quite gag-inducing, but quite awful.

T - The taste is quite a bit better, thankfully. Surprisingly clean grains, fruity sweetness, and better-hidden alcohol. Not particularly great, but not off-putting either.

M - Grainy texture, zesty carbonation, medium body, somewhat watery, with a clean finish. Alcohol warmth is reasonable and on the lower end of the spectrum.

D - Surprisingly decent, although it'd still be a challenge to put down a 24oz can. I don't understand these 8% malt liquors either - you have to suffer 50% more to achieve the same level of inebriation. Still, this would be in the upper quarter of gas station offerings.

Picked up a 24 ounce can for $1.39 before tax. No freshness date.

A: dark yellow with an almost syrupy appearance.

S: smells of booze and corn, although it's quite mild compared to other high gravity lagers.

T: very smooth for the style. The alcohol is disguised quite well with corn and cereal adjuncts. In fact, this is the smoothest high gravity lager I've tasted.

M: medium carbonation and some thickness from the alcohol and adjuncts.

This is the best beer in its category. Far superior to other cheap 8.1% abv beers. If you're broke or homeless, this will do the trick.

Tasted may 26th 2011 (from notes)

Poured into a huge beer mug

A - funky almost see through golden/copper, four finger white fluffy head and head lacing

S - alcohol, dust, apples, earth, sugar, slight yeast and a weird kinda sour pungent smell

T - sweet and sour, apples, dust, alcohol and a slight bitterness

M - sticky, low acidity, short finish

D - drinks better than steel I will say that

Final thought - if you need to get drunk get simpler times lager. You get a six pack for 1 more dollar

24 oz can poured in a Budweiser pint glass.

Appearance - White seafoam head that disappears moderately quickly, and loudly. Sounds like Rice Crispies as the head dies. Clear copper-amber body with a small bit of carbonation.

Smell - Candy and corn. Clean, no off smells.

Taste - Harsh. Metallic. Bitter. Alcoholic. Metallic aftertaste lasts a few moments then the flavor vanishes. On subsequent sips, I notice trace amounts of underlying malty sweetness. Might make you shudder on your first sip, but actually not all that bad. Lives up to its name.

Mouthfeel - Smooth. Slightly astringent.

Overall Drinkability - Not too bad for an American Malt Liquor. I wouldn't go out of my way to drink this for tasting purposes, but if catching a quick buzz on the cheap is your goal, then it's an interesting beer.

Dark yellow to light copper color, white head. Too much alcohol aroma mixed with corn. Ugh. Can I knock appearance points for having to go to unsavory corner liquor marts to find this?

Smoother on the palate, but still, alcohol seems omniprescient in this. Cereal like grainness along the lines of Corn Flakes, sweet like, almost fruityness comes along midbottle. Thin body keeps the alcohol around in the mouthfeel.

Not horrible, but I can't imagine a locale that doesn't have something better to drink. And if you're poor, get a better job.
