I will openly cop to having once been a big consumer of Michelob. My uncle always had it in the fridge when he would come east every summer and I simply followed his lead until Rolling Rock really took off while I was in Cali with the navy. I wonder what its Light iteration may be like, but thanks to Tone77 and The CANQuest (TM), I am about to find out! CAN I get some love?
From the CAN: "All-Malt Light Lager" - really?!? That was one of the pluses of original Mich - NO adjuncts. Good. Also, "AmeriCAN-style light lager brewed with a blend of Hallertau, Strissel Spalt and other hop varieties." Zounds!
The Crack & Glug proceeded as usual, with a short moment of panic as the creamy, bone-white head began to approach the lip of the glass. Fortunately, I know what to do in such situations and backed off of my pour. Great head retention, BTW. Color was a light lemon-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose was light with a citrusy spiciness that was truly unexpected. It was like lemon zest with a mild biscuitiness. Mouthfeel was medium with a lemony taste on the tongue along with an attendant bite or snap. Dang, this is pretty good! Finish had more of a biscuit taste, but the lemon was still there. It reminded me of Archway Lemon Snap cookies. Completely unexpected! The only knock on this was its watery mouthfeel. I would bring this in the cooler for those who are into Light beers, but I am not a calorie counter, plus I am betting that this is sold at the "Premium" price range and I would not want a case at those prices.

a can poured chilled into a willybecker
A - a straw golden w/ slight chill haze and thick sudsy 1 inch cap which flattens to a ring
S - The smell of cooked veggies and a dms smell w/ a light sweet adjunct and mild floral yeast ester
M- A crisp thin and slick and almost soapy texture an somewhat high carbonation, but overall it lacks a real finish
T - A mild sweet flavor w/ light tangy corn taste w/ a palate coating and plastic/soapy flavor that is hard to get past
D - A pretty poor drinkability score -I gave it my honest review -it is basically tasteless, a waste of time -avoid

Well to start... yeah its a macro/cheap beer in a can. Very similar to all the other bud lights/miller lites/natural lights/keystone etc., but I find this one to have a tad more of a hop flavor. Even keeps its head as you drink it, can't say that about much of the other ones, and even a tiny bit of lacing showing it has some substance to it. Clearly a lawnmower/party beer, but its quite refreshing and a lot more tolerable and most of the other cheap beers, plus it's the same price... one of my favorite cheap beers.

Why did I get this, oh for fun I suppose.
Pours straw yellow, maybe a wee bit darker than your average light macro.
No smell except for the slightest hint of malt
Tastes a very light malt, but mostly like a seltzer water.
Mothfeel is like seltzer water.
Overall drinkability is very east cause it is like fizzy water. What tiny bit of beer flavor I detected was not bad, but that kinda sucks for me cause I like having flavor in my beer. Oh well.

Wow, I haven't killed a soldier in awhile. This one definitely went down the drain after four sips. Thank god it was free. Pours a pale yellow. Smells crisp, light, and sweet (to its credit I guess). Tastes awful, like theres nothing but adjuncts and sugar. Very grainy. Thin mouthfeel, high carbonation. If it were cold and stayed cold I could probably finish it, but this is basically re-labeled Bud Light to me...

a beer from anheuser family, the best of all is its Bottle in elegant extruded aluminum; no comments about its drinkability, little aromatic of hops, adjoincts, rice over the flavor off course; good for american and mexican cuisine; snack; monday night; not try with german cuisine; 70% recommended.

Sample out of one of the fancy new aluminum bottle / cans, brought back from a recent trip to the States. Definatley a unique package, metallic blue, tall and thin 16 oz. After the rather stunning package, it is a very basic BMC macro product. Pours out a yellow color, foam comes and goes leaving a glass of yellow colored water. It has a light aroma of some grain or grass. Not much taste, again, typical of what you expect from a light beer. The mouthfeel is fizzy and over carbonated. Nothing special, would not search out again based on the taste, but it is a cool looking can.

This review is the second half of Macro Smackdown V, the other half being Miller High Life Light. The Miller product comes in the standard aluminum can and this beer comes in the new canottle/bottcan. It's an interesting look that seems a little girlie to me. I'd be embarrassed to be seen holding one (yeah, like that'll ever happen outside the confines of this purely scientific exercise). On to the show...
Light yellow-amber. Although not quite light enough to be called straw, noticeably lighter than the High Life. The head is also simple white with no drabness or off-colors. The substance of the foam is better here, in that it looks smooth and fluffy. However, it falls more quickly and doesn't leave any lace.
This nose is less sweet than its competitor and is more musky/spicy. I have a hard time believing that I'm actually smelling hops, but... could be... could be. As far as which one is preferable, I'd have to go with the High Life Light. The fruitiness gives it a leg up. Although I generally like musky/spicy, the Michelob Light nose doesn't quite do it for me.
Nasty. There's no other way to adequately describe the flavor. Michelob Light is one of the worst tasting beers of any style that has ever crossed my palate. It has that adjuncty, grainy flavor that all macro lagers possess, but it suffers in comparison to the other Big Three light lagers that I've sampled (nothing like being inferior to inferior beer). There's an off-putting sourness that makes it even harder to get down, as opposed to a sweetness that tends to make this sort of beer more drinkable; at least to me.
There's no difference between the mouthfeels, at least none that I could pick up on a final sip or two. I'm not about to drink any more of either one of these in order to discern some small difference in mouthfeel. I think I've been more than selfless in bringing you, the discriminating beer consumer, this comparative information and I'm simply unwilling to pour more of this stuff over my pleading taste buds and down my throat.
Michelob Light is the clear loser of Macro Smackdown V. That's not to say that Miller High Life Light is any great shakes, but this beer just rolled over and quit (flavor-wise). A more pathetic showing I have rarely seen. The new canottle/bottcan didn't do squat. Gosh, and I really expected it to. Stay away from Mich Light. Stay very... very... far away.

sampled their new aluminum bottle shaped can. Poured a light amber color with white head. Taste in very light with a background sweetness. Mouth is not unpleasant and is a good thirst-quencher. A good example of a lawn-mower beer. An easy drinking beer.

Still one of my favorite light beers! If i want an agreeable light beer that most people can drink, that will still give me some sence of forfillment, this is it. Much more flavor than most other light beers. Not as flavorfull as most lagers or sam adams light, it is still far superior to the bud light, coors light genre or beers.

A pale yellow beer, just slightly golden. Minimal head (not aggressively poured, though) fizzled away at double time pace.
Aroma - sorry, but I really couldn't pick up much at all on the nose, just a common 'beer' smell, perhaps a tinge grassy.
Taste - just the faintest bit of malt, barely noticeable, and I thought it was just the slightest bit sweet-flavored going into a dry mouth following 3 sand volleyball games ( we won all 3, so I must drink 3 beers...minimum). Finishes very clean without drying the mouth. Nothing at all offensive, it fits the light profile respectfully and always tastes a little better when someone else is buying.
An acceptable session beer for thirst quenching and the ensuing socializing.

Oh well, it was Easter with the family and the choices were slim.
I chose this light beer over Molson Ice for no particular reason. I can't really say I enjoyed this beer, but it did quench my thirst. It's a background beer, completely anonymous and unforgettable.
Drinking ice cold straight out of the can. Slight grainy, husky flavor.
No real hops detected. Exactly what I thought it would be - Fizzy grain water.

Had a can of this and a can of Labatt Blue Light at a Bluejackets game. Back and forth I went between the two, back and forth, Labatt and Michelob, Michelob and Labatt. There literally was no difference. Both had next to no aroma or flavor. Both sucked sour frog ass. Taste tests between two crappy beers are not fun. At least they were free.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a light golden-yellow color with a two finger pure white head. The head fades over about a two minute time frame to leave a rather surprisingly god level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell –The aroma is very light. The light detectable smells are of a bread, corn, paper, caramel and light citrus hop smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a tiny bit of a bready flavor consisting mainly of a corny sweet flavor. As the flavors advanced the sweetness grew even stronger more toward the middle with some other light fruit flavors as well as some light caramel flavor coming to the tongue. The taste is rather sweet from here to the end, leaving a rather sweet flavor of corn, caramel, and some fruit with very little of any other flavors to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the average to above average side for a light brew (but still on the thinner side overall) with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The slightly thicker body for a light brew accentuates some of the sweeter corn and papery flavors a bit to heavily, where a lighter body and a bit more carbonation would have better hidden these and created a more refreshing style brew.
Overall – Higher in sweetness but lower in refreshment for a beer of the “light” category. A little too much corn and papery taste combined with the off feel make this brew one to likely avoid.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pilsener.
Appearance: 1 finger of white, fizzy foam that diminishes to a thin froth. Clear, light yellow with tiny particles suspended in the beer. Some nice bubbles rising up. Slight lacing as the beer is drank.
Smell: Light hops and malt but mostly a yeasty smell.
Taste: There is not a lot of flavor in this beer. Very light grain and that is about it.
Mouth Feel: Light to medium body with a watery feel. Softly carbonated with a semi-dry finish.
Overall: A bit disappointing. Compared to the Michelob Ultra this is a bit weaker. The Ultra had a bit more beer flavor and appearance. This was really low flavor and did not make me want to come back for more.

From the 12 oz. bottle stamped 12233-MW63. Sampled on October 24, 2012.
It pours pale yellow with loads and loads of foamy white head that eventually gives way.
The aroma is corn, rice, and clean hops which is about what I would expect from the style.
The body is thin.
The taste is fresh with grains and a crisp, quick light hop finish. It is really what I would expect from the style so I would call it average for the style. Nothing crafty here. Just plain old thirst quenching stuff.

I think this beer has an above average taste that doesn't bite but is full bodied and flavorable. I perfer a glass bottle over the can or tap. To me it is a much richer beer than it's brouther Ultra that taste much closer to water. My only problem is it seems that Michelob Light is fading out of the picture. I am having difficulty finding my favorite beer in the market place. I guess that is why this is known as Dad's beer but the yuppie beer Ultra just does't measure up for me.

A - pours a light copper with a thin layer of bubbly, loose head that fades quickly
S - grainy and a bit sweet
T - grainy, sweet, very faint grassiness
M - crisp, a bit heavily carbonated, very light bodied
Well, this achieved what they set out to achieve. It's light bodied, very lightly flavored, and you can work through quite a few of them. It's unoffensive, highly drinkable, but ultimately forgettable.

pours out a pale gold colour with a festive fizzy white head. sparse lace. strained pale maltiness in the nose. some noticeable noble hopping, a bit spicy and herbal. taste profile has some character...pale malts and a restrained bitter hop profile make for some actual "pilsneresque" flavours. it is slightly more girthy for a light beer in the body department, with a slightly watery, thin, crisp and tongue tingling mouthfeel. drinakbility is nice, especially if slaking a thirst on a hot day, or washing down some spicy buffalo wings.
overall...this is a light beer one rung higher than the usual BMC light offerings. rated within the style, it rates fairly respectable.

I cannot believe that this beer is not as popular as other light American beers. Its much better than Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Light. Super drinkable, real malt and hop flavor, and some lacing make this light lager my go to light beer. Don't waste your time with Michelob Ultra. Michelob Light is much better.

Re-review, because I felt like I my old review was too generically mean spirited. That, and bile fascination.
A: Pours a VERY light straw color with perfect clarity and strong carbonation rising to the head. White colored head with pathetic retention/lacing.
S: There is a noble aspect to this beer...granted, it's pretty unrefined, but the fact that it exists in a light macro is stunning. Otherwise features the typical grainy note (in this case, rice, not corn) of most light macros.
T: Not good, but expectedly not good. There is a slightly rough tone of rice adjuncts at first, and that slimy aftertaste I detest in most adjuncts, but otherwise, there's almost no flavor at all. You could pound these, but why would you want to? Just pound water instead!
M: Seltzer water-esque.
O: It's good for one thing: when for whatever reason, you're pounding beers like a madman and don't want to seem as hoi polloi as the typically redneck Bud Light drinkers. That's it. People, I drink this stuff so you don't have to, so just get some real beer instead. Might I suggest some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale?

I'm not sure why, but this is my favorite Bud product. It doesn't taste offensive, actually quite smooth with very little intense flavors or hops. Appears a little darker than normal light lagers but that seems to be a good thing. not a beer for playing drinking games, but I more closely relate this as "your dad's" beer. not complex but gets the job done. "free beer" rule applies here.

Pours to a thick white head that falls to a thin layer, no lacing. Pale yellow. Aroma is a weak combo of CO2, faint hops, grains and a whiff of decomposed veggies. Flavor is weak and bland--you can taste the malt and hops and know that they are good, but they are just too faint to enjoy. Mouthfeel is over-carbonated but not exactly watery either. Overall, a waste of money and space in the fridge.

To me, Michelob Light is much better than bud light or coors light. This beer has some flavor.
I think its biggest flaw is that it is too heavy to be a light beer. I think it is more comparable to Budweiser or regular Michelob than to light beers.
It is not horrible, but falls into that mediocre beer category.
So why bother.

Yet another enthralling installment of "Free Beers From Work". This one goes so far to prove its lightness it lists calorie, carb, protein and fat amounts on the label.
Pale straw yellow, white head, retains well as a thin but full cap.
Decent nose strength for a light beer, basically just pale and bready malts, but not bad.
Taste is about the same, mostly just grainy/pale/bready malt with a non-existent/minuscule amount of lemony hop flavor, but not offensive, more flavor than your average light lager. Decent finish.
Especially high on the carbonation, but a good body to it, doesn't feel like water. No off-tastes.
Really not a bad light beer, actually tastes like something at least, much better than Bud/Coors/Busch Light.
