Review dated 12/19/2008 from 12oz bottle.
Looks like Bud - pale yellow with a fizzy white head. Mild hops and malt on the aroma with adjunk. This is the best their top brewmasters could come up with? It is BARELY better than Budweiser. Watery and ricey. Faint grassy hops. Carbonated yet weak mouthfeel. Wow, A-B is bad. I am really happy they are Belgium's problem now.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a clear golden with a thin white head and little lacing. Nose brings forth some grain and a bit of some Czech/German hops. Taste is about the same, with a bit of grain but mostly just faint hops and some carbonation. Light feel with a good amount of carbonation to carry what little flavor there is. Drinks okay, but probably has a bit too much carbonation and not much real flavor.

I know this beer is retired but I tested at the brewery before it was out and still had my notes. I know it is going back a minute but hey I never even noticed it was on BA before. They told us it was supposed to resemble a Dutch brand that will remain nameless. It had a good finger and a half of head sitting in the clear plastic sampling cup they gave us. Alright lace and body carbonation. The body was brass/gold color. The aroma did smell like a mass produced Euro lager with some tones of grass and malt. There was bit of bitterness to the flavor but was primarily malty. Thin feel and overall drinkability was pretty good.

A bitter beer that is more astringent than flavorful. Not too much in the way of sweet malt to balance it out either (rather dry). I think calling this beer world select is a little humorous unless you are comparing it to Bud Light. The aroma is somewhat malty with a strange hop character. The mouthfeel is thin. Pass.

Been looking for this one for a while now so when I came across one I quickly grabbed it. Deep dark ruby pour with a thick tan head and some nice lacing. The aroma is very malty with a good sweetness to it. Great smokey flavor with a nice roasted quality. Licorice, coffee, and a touch of chocolate complete a tasty brew. Mouthfeel could be a touch thicker but it works. Overall a good porter.

Poured golden pale yellow from a bottle. Smelled decent, but nothing special..much less skunky than similiar imports ( Heinie).
Lots of carbonation, taste of light hops, no fruits, nothing really special.
Finishes clean, this is what Budweiser should be. Not over bearing. Not real bitter. But, a better flavor than run-of-the-mill macros.

Aroma:Smelled like a European Lager but with a little less skunk
Appearence: Pours a golden will standard American Macro or European Lager color, the head was small and disappeared after a minute or two.
Flavor: It had a fuller and crisper flavors then other AB lagers
Mouthfeel: Low to Medium bodied, did not taste much alcohol
Drinkability: Better then Bud, Bud Light, Grolish, heiny, ect.

Cheers on attempting to cash in on the green-bottle, european import, high class appearance niche! This beer, to me, seems to be nothing more than another marketing scam infecting the truth of what otherwise is an outstanding growth of the American craft beer industry.
If youve had more than 40 or 50 beers, the descriptions are probably fairly predictable: Pours a fizzy golden/yellow color with nearly no head retention. The aroma is a bit sweet, a bit adjuncty, and just maybe you could pick out some hops (good luck). Taste follows suit, as its just a hair better than most other a-b products. . . but you also run the risk of getting a skunked one, as someont had the brilliant idea of bringing out everybodys favorite green bottles. They really put their guns in on this one to compete with the heinekens and grolschs.
My guess is we wont see this one in stores much longer than another few months, if at all.

This beer was garbage. The fact that they "challenged our top brewmasters representing 10 countries around the globe to collaborate and create something extraordinary" and this is the end result. I would be upset if I spent all that money and this is the final product. No smell. Poured a straw color with thin to no head. Musty taste and no aftertaste. They even changed th name of this beer. It used to be called Anheuser World Select but then AB came out with Bud Select so they changed names.

Aroma: Clean crisp malt and hop nose. No fruity esters. Hops are very gentle. Slight graininess.
Appearance: Brilliantly clear golden. Bright white head that spider webs the surface and rings the sides of the glass. Half way through the beer there is no head at all. Like glass.
Flavor: Low Pilsen malt character that's slightly sweet. Crisp and refreshing, clean fermented with no off flavors. Gentle hop flavor and a spicy hop bitterness that lingers just a bit and is actually thirst quenching. Hints of wood character.
Mouthfeel: Medium low bodied. Medium-medium low CO2. Alcohol is present but low.
Overall Impression: A very refreshing smooth Pilsner. I would take this beer over a Budweiser or Bud Light any day. You have to try this one. I'm sure you'd enjoy it especially on a hot summer afternoon.

12oz green bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a golden yellow color with a decent looking white head that leaves some sporadic lacing around the edge of the glass. The aroma is grain, some euro hops and a detracting metallic quality. The taste is much like the aroma with some grain and mild hopping. The mouthfeel is extremely thin and watery. Overall, I am not at all impressed with this offering from A-B.

Ok, so A/B is courting the world now, eh? Well, I'll give it a shot...at least they're trying to branch out.
I can smell it already. A bit of skunk. Is this deliberate? Are they marketing to Americans who like skunky imports? Or are they trying to grab the "foreign" style? Anyway, not a good smell.
Pours light. Pale yellow body, a good size head...that just went away.
Taste: Hmmm. Like Bud but with a slight twinge to it. More malty? More skunk! Still, not that bad, just a bit weak.

the american version of heineken, in style an image; good option over the heineken and grolsch, but its blondy color and poor lacing is not made for me; the only think good for me of this beer is its bottle of aluminum in monoblock; i try two of 4 bottles and the other two i cant drink; bad for mexican food; try in a pilsner glass; i recommend 51%

Reminds me a lot of a combination of Heineken/ Canadian Macro. Actually a pretty good tasting beer considering I'm not a big fan of A-B. A little skunky smell but that is probably the norm for this style beer. I will definitely drink this again. Hopefully not a limited offering.

Radiant gold with a generous dusting of fine particulates. It's hard to believe that this head is on an A-B product because it actually looks good. I don't believe that any adjuncts are used in the brewing, so maybe that helps. The cap is ivory in color and is substantive enough to last for a bit. A more than respectable amount of lace is a pleasant surprise as well.
The nose is classic Euro pale lager with musky noble hops at the forefront. Fresh grain is present as well, although I can't appreciate the Munich malt that the brewery claims is in there. No off-aromas are a definite plus in beer of this style. I've often thought that I'd like EPLs more if they reached these shores sooner after bottling. This one makes me think that might actually be the case.
World Lager is good beer, I don't care who brewed it. The most surprising thing to me (among many surprising things) is the solidity of the lightly caramel malty backbone. That judiciously sweet, toasted malt flavor puts this version far ahead of the majority of European lagers as far as I'm concerned. If this beer was brewed in order to kick Heineken Lager's ass back to Zoeterwoude, then it's time to break out the 'mission accomplished' signs.
I like the fact that World Lager gives the taste buds something other than grassy, somewhat spicy noble hops to keep them occupied. This is balanced beer in the best sense of that term. It's both sweet and bitter, with neither one dominating at any point along the flavor arc. It tastes like the brewery took their time with this one and got it just right.
I'm also impressed with the mouthfeel. It's on the light side of medium, as it should be for the style. A modest mouthfilling creaminess (that is being maintained nicely as I enter the bottom half of the bottle) pulls it well above average and keeps it there.
I couldn't be more suprised by Anheuser World Lager. I expected more dreck from a brewery that specializes in barely palatable beer. I hope the reps don't strong-arm establishments into keeping this one at a temperature in the low 40s, as they do with most of their offerings, because the last thing that a World Lager drinker needs is numb taste buds. After all, this is just about the only A-B beer worth tasting.

12oz bottle into a pilsner.
Bubbles right when you pour. A pale straw color when you look at it but a quickly fading head. A little disappointing.
Hops in the nose, then that is it. Based on grain. Very clean.
A medium body, smooth, and very lively carbonation. Hops are there all the time. Maltyness has controll during the finish as the hops are subdued. Nicely done with the carbonation and such.
Good Euro Lager.
