The Poligamy Porter, good name by the way, is another victum to Utah law...I can't believe the Utah beer lovers haven't tried to succeed to the republic of Colorado. The appearance is a deep amber with no head. The was not much to describe as far as the smell...nothing maybe a hint molasses. The taste carried something sweet, reminded me of toffee/molasses...but not much else. Did not have a lot of body....very light. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth, but its not a great porter.

Poured from bottle to pint glass, black with a small head. Aroma of dark roast / barley malt / coffee, bitter finish with lingering coffee notes. Watery and thin. Not bad for a porter, but not something that I would seek out in the future. Take some home for the wives!

I bought this one at a Total Wine and More in Glendale AZ, so it's hard to say how old the beer was. Overall disappointed, but kind of figured seeing that it is a novelty brew. If there ever were any aroma or flavor hop additions, they were long gone from the bottle I drank and I could not distinguish any of the bittering hops. Could not make out any yeast flavorings either, this beer was very clean of distinct flavors, no caramel or roasted notes.
Plain ale with black malt additions ...nothing more.
This beer had a beautiful dark color and reddish held to the light, one of the best looking beers I have ever seen ...unfortunately, that was the only good thing to say about it ... I don't buy beers to look at them.
To be fair, I will try to find a fresher one and change this post if in fact it is better.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a standard pint.
A: Dark brown or black. Pours about a half finger, bubbly, brown-white head. Dissipates quickly, leaving a slight trace of the once present head. No lacing.
S: Roasted coffee, cardboard, and maybe a slight hint of molasses.
T: Roasted paper, tea leaves, with some indistinct sweet hints.
M: A little sweeter than it should be, and a little lighter feel than it should be.
D: Goes down easy, session style.
Atmosphere is okay. Slight head, but no lacing. Nose is....something....roasted with some sweet, chocolate, and coffee accentuates. Flavor is shallow roasted something with sweet something. Overall, this is an okay quaff.

A - Poured dark in color. The color really resembled a Coke or Pepsi in my opinoin. I just poured a small off white head.
S - Wonderful smell. Lots of things going on. Huge chocolate smell up front. THere was also hints of cherry, liquorice, and a slight smoky smell.
T - Pretty disappointing taste after such a great smell. The smoky was there but the others were just not there for me. I expected lots of chocolate, but it was absent for the most part.
M - Silky with a very dry finish
O - This beer smells better than it tastes. The smell was great but the taste didn't live up to it. Still, an easy drinking porter and one could definately drink several.
