OK, so this was my first ever review on BA.... Almost 2 years later, I am having another Gordon's and revisiting the review. First off, this time the beer was a perfect pour. Head was beautiful and lacing was thick and luscious. Would describe it as more hazy vs. cloudy now.
Aroma was still sweet, slight alcohol and slightly fruity
I am upgrading the grade here this time around
Balance is still quite nice.
Poured out of the can into a pint glass and kept waiting for a head to form. Good thing I didn't hold my breath. A quarter inch, at most, of head finally appeared that was light tan with very large bubbles. A small amount of lace formed as I drank the pint.
Somewhat cloudy deep copper color.
Aroma was pleasant but I had to work to find it.
I would have enjoyed a more aromatic brew.
Taste was well balanced, especially for a Double/Imperial. The higher alcohol does not smack you in the face. Mostly caramel notes with pine as well. A little grapefruit flavor lingers
Enjoyable for a Double but would have enjoyed the hops sticking with you a little longer in the aftertaste
