After a decent sized earthquake...I needed something to calm me down...and I thought this would be perfect. Poured into a Bruery tulip glass at roughly 45 degrees.

A: A mix of gold and copper colors make up most of the body, which is accompanied by a big white fluffy head and ample amounts of lacing.

S: A big sugary and biscuity malt body comes through pretty strong at first while the hops take a second or two to kick in. Not as floral as other hop profiles, but still a good amount of grapefruit qualities are detectable.

T: The initial sip is a lot of sweet hop flavor and alcohol, but as time goes on...a rich malt body comes in to balance it out. Still, a very sweet IPA that reminds me of an Avery DIPA in many ways.

M: You tell this is a big beer just by the feel, it's almost like I'm chewing it with each sip. The carbonation is right on as well and finish has a touch of dryness...perfect for a DIPA.

D: Even the smell/aroma isn't up to par with some of the more notable DIPA's out there... but the mouthfeel and overall ease this beer has going down the hatchet makes it quite epic in my opinion.

Overall: A good example of a DIPA...and one I'm going to forward to having again. A must try. Cheers!

Enjoyed this 12oz can out of a Beligan Tulip glass.

A: Pours a dark copper hue with an off-white, 2-finger, frothy head that slowly dissipates leaving a good trail and solid lace.

S: Sweet malty and bitter hoppy aroma.

T: Very sweet almost barley wine-like. Predominant malty followed by mellow bitter hoppiness. Finishes on the sweet side of dry.

M: Very strong with a heavy body and medium carbonation.

O: Decent imperial IPA – a little too balanced towards the malt and not enough hops.

Bottle poured into a tulip shape glass

Appearance: filtered, orangy, light amber colored with a finger white head.

Smell: piney, citrusy, sweet,

Taste: piney and hoppy on the front end with a hint of caramel, vanilla sweetness in the middle with a hint of alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Thick syrupy mouthfeel with little carbonation.

Overall: This is a malt heavy beer, with a great amount of hops added it to it. It is not overly sweet nor bitter. It is a very unique beer and I am looking foreword to do blind tastings with this one a several other DIPAs. It was a bit overpriced in my opinion for just a 4 pack but this is something that one must buy at least once to try it out. It is a great quality beer with its own unique flavor to it.
