I thought that there would be more to try here, only five beers to sample. They were decent though. I especially liked the noble stout, pretty damn tasty. Didn't try the food, it looked pretty pricey and I was still in the mood for more beer. Looks like a pretty awesome dinner stop though.

My wife and I stopped here on a vacation trip. The interior of this pub is somewhat unique because we felt like we were sitting in an industrial environment (the brewing equipment and the exposed large heat vents, etc.) at the same time as sitting in a French cafe. (A patio at the rear of the pub was very enticing on this nice Spring day, but we stayed inside.)

We ordered a 6-sampler tray so that we try all of their beers. (It would have been 7 samples, but they were out of their double IPA.) Except for two stouts, none of the other beers were placed into a specific beer style on the beer description menu (one was listed as a Cascadian Dark Ale), so it is difficult so say that the beers are brewed to style. However, the stouts were right on to style, and the other 4 beers were very tasty.

The food menu has some standard pub fare items, but some that were very unique too. All of it sounded delicious. We were very satisfied with our choices.

A group of octogenarians were finishing up their lunch and seemed to be having a good time, so this place appeals to many. This is a quaint-looking community that we would like to explore more, so when we're back in this area again we'll stop here for more beer and food.

This place is really a very nice restaurant that happens to serve very good beer brewed on site. The food is fantastic! The back deck is a divine place to hang while you enjoy all the delicacies and fine ales! If you're in Ashland then Standing Stone is a must! It's right downtown and within close walking distance of everything. Shoot, have a couple pints and stagger right on over to enjoy some Shakespeare at the Elizabethan outdoor theater!

Been here a couple times now, a few years apart. I really like the way this place is set up. Very spacious with a great back patio. Design is quite nice.

Selection wasn't great. I think they only had 5 brews on tap when I was there. The double IPA was the standout and I had a pint of that after finishing the sampler. The two stout variations (one with coffee) were pretty tasty as well.

Service was a touch slow but that could be pretty random. Food was definitely worth it. Always happy when a brewery has vegan options and this one did. I had the vegetarian chili which was excellent. Prices were very reasonable.

Great atmosphere and the beer is enjoyable. Probably your best bet for beer when visiting Ashland.

What a great town for a brewing Co. like this. This place is really pretty impressive for such a small town You can definatly tell that there was no expense spared while building the Standing Stone. So many things were custom built just for this bar. I love the way they brought the lines down for the Tap handles.
We were promptly greeted with a Hello and what can I get ya.
I started with there Dbl IPA and the wifee wanted the coffee stout. Unfourtunatly they didnt have the Stout. So she opted for a pretty tasty Porter. The IPA was good but probably won't stand out in my mind.

FOOD- we were not to hungry , but grabbed the Black Bean Hummis App. I gotta tell ya . It hit the spot. Perfect with beer.
SERVICE - was really pretty good, A very nice gentleman behind the bar especially on a late Sunday evening.
ATMOSPHERE- fantastic size and decor, very a large and has deck with view.

check it out !

Husband and I stopped in to treat ourselves after spending the day racking 2009 and bottling 2008 Thistlecroft Merlot. We were cordially greeted by staff at the door and that was then followed by an attentive bartender. We shared a Nitro Oatmeal Stout (see review) that hit the spot. Jon orginially ordered the black and blue, but since we are on a budget and you have to pay an additional $2 for fries, he downgraded to the Stone Cheeseburger, medium rare. I had the Margherita wood fired pizza. Burger was cooked perfectly, on foccacia, and all accrutrements were fresh and tasty. House made catsup was a joy and made the toasty cocoa in the stout sing. My pizza was tasty, but I forgot to ask for it well done since few in Southern Oregon have figured how to not serve floppy, underdone crust. (I don't blame them, it appears to be a regional flaw.)

Atmosphere works for us. They desire to be a wholesome local establishment that focuses on local ingredients, and sustainable practices. (They just installed a huge bike rack out front for commuting employees and peddling customers.) It looked like there was a kid"'s birthday party going on out back. This is not just another grungy, quirky brewpub. Thank goodness.

Was here back in September, and just now getting around to posting a review. My sister and I stopped in for both lunch and dinner as I moved my niece into school at SOU. Ashland is a beautiful town, and this place had a good atmosphere inside and on the expansive porch out back. Service was competent and friendly, and the food was fabulous. Salmon was perfectly prepared, and my salad was one of the best I've had in years. Nice Oregon wine selection, and a had a few of their brews as well. Unfortunately, the beer didn't match the rest of the experience. The Oktoberfest was nearly undrinkable (maybe the hoppiest Okto ever brewed), and the IPA was so-so at best. Amber was decent.

Alright so let's talk standing stone. My first trip here about two years ago was great, I enjoyed all of the beers and was impressed with my food.

Fast forward to a couple of days ago. I stopped in just before dinner and got a common ale. Not very good but drinkable, then my food arrives typical bar-b-que chicken pizza pairs well with porter so I got it. I was lost between liking and disliking the beer but I was happy with the food.

The place is bland and would almost be boring if not for the brew equipment being overhead.

I'm not writing them off but definately not going to stop next time. I'll probably stop in at Wild River.

If you noticed that I gave atmosphere a 5, then allow me to explain why. We sat on their back deck, with a nice view. They had live music (acoustic guitarist) and the weather was stunning.

The interior is very utilitarian, with the brewery above the dining area on a grated catwalk. There was nothing to seperate the restaurant and brewery per se. Really cool architecture and location.

Food was excellent. We got a pizza with grapes, artichokes, gorgonzola, and a pesto sauce. Amazing! I've never had a pizza with grapes before. THey have a really talented and experimental chef, love their menu. (they've got tons of sane/normal food too)

Beer was top notch. Highly recommend a sampler.
This is my #1 pub in Ashland!

This is a really nice little brewery tucked away in one of Oregon's most beautiful towns. It's a fairly large place with several seating areas, both indoor and outdoor. The patio area features a surprisingly decent jazz band on Sundays.

The food is quite good - pretty standard pub fare for the most part, but it's quality stuff and not terribly expensive. The house-made ketchup is great, as are the pizzas. Prices are about average for an upscale brewpub; about 4 bucks a pint and 10 to 12 for a meal. Pretty reasonable, in my opinion.

The beer is very good, surprisingly so. They have about 6 - 7 taps, all brewed right there on the upper level of the building. Their porter is downright excellent, as is their double IPA. I tried 4 or 5 different brews here during the couple days I was in town, and enjoyed them all. For such a small, obscure brewery, the quality of the beer is very high.

I spoke to the brewer for a while during my last visit - he's a great guy and a very knowledgeable brewer. He ended up giving me a growler of his as-of-yet unfinished wet hopped amber ale, which was delicious and incredibly fresh.

The service has been good every time I've been here - very attentive staff.

In all, a great brewpub, and the best place I've found to grab a beer in southern Oregon. The lack of bottled beer is the only thing holding this place back from greater popularity.

I'm embarressed to say that I've lived in Southern Oregon all my life and never even heard of this place. My girlfriend and I went to Ashland the other day to go on a beer run (Ashland is sadly the only place in Southern Oregon that has a store with a decent beer selection, Market of Choice), and ran into this place on accident. It's a fairly average looking place, when we were there it wasn't too busy, but there was plenty of room if it were to get busy. I only had one beer, and that was the Porter and it was amazing. Good enough that I took home a liter growler full. The food however was a little disapointing. It was good, but way overpriced, a burger and fries ran about 11bucks! I'll defintly be going back to try the rest of their brews (gaging from other advocates reviews the DIPA sounds promicing), but I'll probably eat somewhere else.

I have been here a few times. It's a nice place to stop for a beer and a bite to eat while on my way north...

Atmosphere is pretty good, Nice deck out back, it can be stale and stoic inside at times but that is often ok by me.

Quality of their brews is good. Their Double IPA is a favorite of mine. Very nice citrus hop character, big and full flavored, but quite drinkable. I have had others before, and found them to be good overall.

Service was solid. Server was prompt, and she gave me some free bread while I drank my beer.

I didn't have much for food on my recent visit, but on prior visits I never found myself unsatisfied with my meal.

This time, my friend ordered a pretzel, and the marionberry mustard that came with it was excellent.

Prices are what anyone would expect at an average pub.

A nice building for a brewpub and this is a beautiful area in Ashland. This place has a nice bar area and different setting areas for dining including a patio area outside.

All stainless steal tap nozzles and the kitchen was in the open. The restroom was clean. This place has a counter top for their bar and tables.

Service was prompt and curious of my opinion of their beers.

A decent selection of their own beers no cask or guest beers. Possible notables being the IPA and Stout. The bartender liked the IPA.

The food was good.

Here's another place I can go and let eh wife and my mother go shopping in the neat stores in downtown Ashland. Kids are allowed nealry anywhere. It seems that they beat the law by have the taps elevated above the bar from the ceiling rather than hooked on the bar.

The back deck is the palce to be on a hot day. On Sundays you have to get there early to get a table and hear the local jazz.

I like to start with the Nut Brown, move to the Porter, have their Stout and then head down the hill to the birht place of Rogue ales or go over to the Blacksheep Pub for real British Isles ales on tap.

The food is northwest bistro and most of the time pretty good. They have a wood fired oven so the salmon is really smoky and nice or a pizza is fine. I've also enjoyed the black bean burrito.

Best thing on the deck is the sun shade -- designed to move with the sun and always keep you in the shade.

Ashland’s only brewpub resides in an historic building that began its life in 1925 as an automotive shop. The floors and walls remain much as they were during prohibition – concrete and brick – though artfully restored and preserved. The exposed steel trusses now support the brewery, making Standing Stone the only open-loft brewpub in Oregon. I can’t imagine how they manage to clean and sanitize the fermentation tanks as any use of a hose or mop would result in water cascading downwards into the bar. But the effect of an exposed, elevated brewing facility is intriguing and complementary to the industrial esthetic of the original structure.

Following a half-million dollar renovation, Standing Stone opened for business in 1997. They usually pour six house taps and a guest perry with a tasteful selection of wine and top shelf booze. Often it seems the clientele drink more wine than beer here. This might seem strange for a brewpub, but not for Ashland as a whole. Standing Stone’s beer roster spans the gamut from Helles lagers to barleywine with some lesser-seen varieties such as cream ale and an especially drinkable California common. The brewer’s style tends to emphasize balance and tradition over hop inundation and extremes.

The food menu includes full service entrees and bar fare with inventive wood-fired pizzas as a specialty. I split an alder smoked salmon pizza with a friend and was blown away by the freakish delight of smoked salmon on a pizza pie. Other highlights include periodic live music, guest access to a magazine rack and children’s toys, growlers and liter bottles to go, and (thankfully) no television. Service is black-tie professional.

During warmer weather, be sure to check out the rear patio for outdoor dining and beer ‘neath the stars.

One of my favorite places for a casual dinner and a pint (or pitcher) is Ashland. Residing in an old industrial space, the concrete floors and high celings give the place a quite modern and hip feel. The tastefuly chosen jazz music is always agreeable. Weather permitting, I prefer to sit outside, where there are these cool, moving sun-shields that look like something off of Jabba's sand-ship in Jedi. Nice view of the buildings surrounding the Ashland plaza too...

The beer here is always solid, if not always adventurous, The rotating menu of 5 or so beers always consists of several faithful treatments of British styles (no PNW hop-craziness here), and a few German offerings (hefe, dunkleweizen, and/or marzen). Look out for the porter. The jury's out on the barleywine.

The food is averageish. The pizzas are rather interesting, and the burgers are quite good, but, by all means, skip the curry. Solid fare on the whole, and not too expensive for downtown Ashland dining.

Service is always agreeable, if not exactly beer-knowledgeable. All too often I've ordered pints here and recieved improper pours, lacking any head and nearly topping the pint glass. Solution? Take several friends, order a pitcher or two, and do your own pours.

Not too impressed by this brewery. The beer is good, but the menu is rather limited. The brewery is situated above the dining room tables and gives the whole place a tree-fort kinda atmosphere, that is unless you're sitting out back. The prices were a little steep and the food was decent, better than standard pub fare, but limited in choices. $6 for 6 2oz. samples? Cmon. That's called a ripoff. Thats 18 oz. of beer and you're getting charged for 2 pints worth. If you want people to try your beer, make it cheap to do so.
