Bottle from the brewery, 650ml into a tulip. Bottled February 4, 2013, into a tulip.
Unfiltered orange, fluffy white head with great lace and retention. Nose has a big Belgian yeast quality, some citrus zest, wheat perhaps. A bit of spice, but the hop profile and yeast combo seems to be becoming oddly characteristic of Bellwood's Belgian inspired ales - in the best way. Taste has some melon skin, tangerine, citrus zest, pilsner and wheat malt, Belgian yeast and a drying finish. Medium body, some texture to the palate. Delightful as always from these guys.

650mL bottle from Bellwood’s bottle shop. Bottle dated: Feb. 1, 2013.
(4.0) A: Hazy copper colour with a creamy and dense stark-white coloured foam head. Good retention and lacing.
(4.25) S: Cloves, banana, peach, mango, belgian yeast, faint lemon, and buttered bread. This is off the charts with big tropical fruits dominating the nose. Belgian qualities present and integrate very well with the fruity elements.
(3.75) T: Tropical fruits are evident but the taste takes a turn towards the citrus side with a tarter quality. The fruits are not nearly as juicy and bold as aroma indicated but still pleasant. Pleasant mix of spices. Level of dryness is on par for the style.
(3.5) M: Medium-light bodied with lower carbonation. Rather thin and clean as opposed to an oilier and thicker feel. Also comes across rather flat.
(3.75) D: This is good and something I will have to try on-tap as I can see that experience might change certain qualities I wasn’t too favourable of with this bottled offering. I’ve found that Bellwood’s seems to hit it out of the park with their aromas, but the taste doesn’t quite follow up. Hopefully that’ll change as I get through more of their stuff.

Bottle into tumbler.
Bottled Feb 4th, 2013
Hazy golden pour with a three finger soapy white head. Lacing is very good.
Bright grapefruit and pineapple. Some mango with a touch of strawberries and some slight pine.
Bitter pine, spicy pepper, quite watery... Somewhat of a let down in the taste department.
Light body, decent carbonation.

Hazy orange colour, one finger of white head with a bit of lace. Smell starts out with spicy belgian yeast then its all hops after that, tropical fruit, mango and grapefruit, little bit of malt as well but very hoppy, a bit of pine came through as this warmed as well. Taste is piney with citus and tropical fruits, spicy yeast, grapefruit and mango, mildly sweet in the finish, big hoppy aftertaste. Medium carbonation, dry mouthfeel, medium body. Really solid stuff here which seems to be the norm from Bellwoods, something I will surely drink again when I see it.

Aroma is nice, but it is citra strong. It is tamed but as it warms, it gives off some ammonia, cat p. A small retained head. More than one hop. ABove average mouthfeel, spurred on by the Belgian yeast. Decent drinkability and taste for the style.
Growler at D's 37th BDay.

Bottled on Feb 4, 2013. Enjoyed on Feb 17, 2013.
Poured in to tulip.
A - Cloudy medium orange colour with a yellow glow around the edges. Half a finger of cream coloured head.
S - Bright citrus nose up front with grapefruit, tangerine, peach and pine aromas. A slight honey malt sweetness. The Belgian yeast is present in the background with a light clove aroma.
T - A big bitterness up front that is very dry. The Belgian yeast and clove flavours are much more prominent than the nose suggested. Grapefruit, peach and pine flavours are also present along with a touch of honey/caramel malt sweetness.
M -Medium body. Creamy. Moderate carbonation.

Bottled Feb 4, 2013.
Beer is a nice cloudy orange colour, with a thick, moderately-sized white-head. Head fades at a moderate pace, nice lace.
Smell is very good. Hops are the main event- lemon, other citrus scents, a touch of pine. Combined with this is a nice Belgian yeast scent, resulting in a nice floral aroma with some white pepper.
Taste is great. The scents do not lie- this is a very nice marriage of American hops and Belgian yeast. Citrus and other light fruit blends with spicy notes, and I end up being reminded of peppermint. Moderately bitter. Terrific.
Medium bodied, moderate to high carbonation, a bit of oil.
Overall, a really good Belgian IPA. A home run in my view. Great beer- I plan to grab a bunch more.
