On tap at the brewery, in a pint glass.

Slightly hazy orange, dense lacing and moderate retention. Nose is heavily tropical, honey dew melon, clementine and citrus rind. Sweet cookie dough like malt scents.Taste has more clementine, orange, tangerine, tropical fruits and a moderate and wholly complimentary sweet malt. Medium full feel, with gentle carbonation. Fantastically delicious, straight up one of the best IPAs I've had in Ontario, and probably Canada.

Whether an APA or American IPA, a fantastic new Ontario beer from an incredible (1 year old) Toronto brewery. Although prefer their draught version, take-home bottles make the computer rating less awkward.

Pours a beautiful bright and clear copper colour with a decent white head that has good retention. Resultant lacing makes it a good looking beer. Stunning "west coast" aroma of pine and citrus - a hop lover's dream. Taste is surprisingly well balanced, with a nice caramelized malt body balancing the full hop spectrum; from pine needles to grapefruit to pineapple. An abrupt bitterness - that lingers - suits my own personal taste perfectly. An Ontario IPA that could stand up well to any Michigan or Californian variety.

Thank-you, Bellwoods!

Thanks to a buddy for picking up a bottle of this for me. Pours a golden orange colour, fairly clear with good head. Smells very hoppy, quite nice. Tastes of citrus hops, grapefruit and pine coming through in the smooth finish. Very easy to drink and its a quite refreshing beer. Another top quality beer from this kick ass brewery.

Bottled February 20th, served in a Bellwoods tulip

A - Plenty of clingy head, with a pale golden body

S - Some pine, juicy fruit, a little malt.

T - This is delicious! Not overly hoppy, but good amount. Well balanced with the malt/body. Some nice fruity hops, but has a good amount of pine/resin as well.

M - Nearly perfect. Good carbonation, medium body. Slamming.

O - Great! Could easily be a go-to brew. Really nice medium step, or maybe an introduction, to the style.

650ml bottle from Bellwoods bottle shop. Bottling date: Feb 20, 2013.

(4.0) A: Slightly hazy copper colour with lively carbonation and a puffy marshmallow-like foam head. Very long lasting retention and good lacing.

(4.5) S: Wet pine, heavily buttered bread, papaya, pink grapefruit, butterscotch, and vanilla. Wow. This is rich and robust, with strong independent aromas coming together beautifully. I’m trying to pick out my favourite and/or most dominant aromas but they are all strongly present and smell fantastic.

(4.25) T: Tart grapefruit, dry pine, buttered biscuits, and slight toffee. Similar to aroma but unable to taste any of those lush tropical fruits that were on the nose (and I was looking forward to). Definitely a hoppy beverage with a strong yet focused taste profile. As expected, heavy towards the bitter side with an appropriately dry finish.

(4.0) M: Medium-full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Dense and oily with a rich buttery texture.

(4.0) D: This could be mentioned in the same conversation as any benchmark American IPA. One of the best aromas I’ve experienced in an IPA to date. The taste is quite focused, yet thankfully what it is focused on is very agreeable and delicious.

Thanks to jrenihan for this one.

Poured from a 650ml. bottle, bottled Jan. 8, 2013.

Appearance: A dark honey colored body, an almost white head that is very creamy, leaves some lacing and has average retention.

Smell: Good peach aroma (edgy), sweet hops, bit of a leafy aroma, almost herbal.

Taste: Hop juice, mangoes, pine, brown sugar, herb-like flavor. Good but lacks a little something.

Mouthfeel: Best part for me. Slick, dry, very well rounded, good carbonation, nice lingering bitterness tickles the tongue.

Overall: A real good IPA. Not has good as some of their others but still of a strong caliber.

Slightly hazy golden orange colour, collar of white head, some lace as well but quite minimal. Smell is loaded with tropical fruit, citrus, grapefruit and orange, pineapple and a touch of malt there as well, really nice nose on this. Taste follows the nose however is a bit of a let down in comparison, citrus and tropical fruit, big dry hop bitterness, orange, grapefruit, lightly sweet malt mid palate followed by more dry hop flavour in the finish, fruity-tropical aftertaste. Light-medium carbonation, oily dry feel. Solid IPA from these guys, just delicious and something I would welcome anytime.

Bottle courtesy of Adam. Thanks!
Bottled Jan 8, 2013. Poured in to tulip.

A - Medium orange; translucent. One finger of white head.

S - A bright citrus aroma stands out up front with grapefruit, orange zest and a touch of peach coming through. Some pine is present as well. The malt base adds some sweet bready caramel notes.

T - Bitter up front with pine, grapefruit and orange peel flavours standing out. A noticeable sweetness from the malt bill adds some caramel and bready flavours. The finish is dry and bitter.

M - Medium body, creamy. Lots of sticky hop oils. Light to moderate carbonation.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Tasty, pineapple and tropical fruit right there even a tad acidic, but a little funky which we didn’t need. Big mouthfeel, big ibu, dry finish. Cloudy grapefruit colour with a little head and lace.Decent drinkability, but not the most drinkable IPA.

On tap at Bellwoods.

Beer is a clear copper colour, with a moderately sized white head. Moderate retention, good lacing.

Smell is very nice. Big citrusy scent, lots of orange, tangerine. Menu suggests melon which I can pick up but would not have noticed without the suggestion. Some pine resin.

Taste is similar but not quite as vibrant. Orange and tangerine, a bit of pine. Fairly bitter. A bit of bready malt. and some spicy rye.

Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Oily.

Overall, a very solid IPA.
