Appearance - Pours a clear golden color with an inch thick head that dissipates after 2 minutes. Has very nice lacing.

Smell - Very feint consisting of grains and corn.

Taste - Sweet with grains, corn, and pale malts. This actually tastes like a pale pilsner to me..

Mouthfeel - Medium body with high carbonation.

Overall - This is one of the best Kolsch beers I've tried.

This is a great beer ! the beauty of this style and this brand in particular, is the bitter flavor is not overbearing , the taste is simple and yet delicious, the smell is that of the greatest hops, It smells like beer my dad used to drink,or the aroma I smelled when I was around rohrbachs brewery growing up.I've tried other brands of kolsch , including sunner and gaffel, have to give gaffel another try,but so far reissdorf has this import on lockdown tastewise for me.

Pours a Clear golden liquid with small white head that dosn't stay very long
Aroma is malt/ grain and a little hops. Flavour is malt, hops , grains , little sweet, little hay, little metallic and medium bitter.
Nothing else to say really , a bit to watery , not much going on !

A- A birght straw color, amazing clarity. Delicate lacing. Thick foamy, persistent head. Clearer than my windshield mirror. The perfect image of beer.

A - Confusing. This is very bready. It's clean, not much yeast. Still, I pick up the scent of fresh-from-the-oven rolls. There's no hops - as expected. And not yeast - very unexpected. Kinda throws the perception of something chewy and malty.

T - Some grassy Pils flavor followed by the taste of pear jam or cobbler. This finish is oddly fruity. This beer doesn't have the baking-dough quality of English Ales, but it finishes as fruity as a street bazaar. This ale is almost closer to a Wit than anything British.

M - Drinkable. It's less than 5% alc and not terribly carbonated. I cannot complain about the body. Still, I don't find it favorable.

O - Nice to try, but I am not sure it was worth the price. The fruitness of it didn't win me over. I would welcome this beer in the summer months, but beyond the un-aspiring qualification of thirst-quencher, this beer offers little.

A: straw yellow/bubbly/shiny, small alabaster head,
pleasing lacing display

S: fresh/clean grain, mild nutty, hint of grassy

T: sweet grain/corn, earthy grassy middle, dry crisp finish

M: med/light body, tongue prick, dry mouth

O: POW! This is one fine beer. Randomly
grabbed it today, never heard of the brewery.
Will get again; this style is PERFECT for Summer.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale straw yellow with light amounts of visible carbonation. There is a finger tall white foamy head which dissipates quickly leaving about a quarter of a finger tall layer of bubbles (not as thick as the original head). Light lacing is observed.

S: Aromas of sweet & pale malts with some grassy hints. More complex than I expected. Also some faint hints of apple and pear.

T: Very refreshing, well balanced with subtle complexity. Flavors are sweet and pale malts up front followed by some apple and pear and finishes with grassy hints.

M: Light to medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Very good example of the style and a very enjoyable, very sessionable beer. Brings back memories of visits to the northern parts of Germany on a warm fall afternoon.

Poured into a pils glass.

3.5 A: Clear medium yellow color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is good, but not much in the lacing department.

4.5 S: Sweet and grassy, but the sweetness has surprising depth. Indeed, this is surprisingly complex while being simple. It's hard to explain so I'll just say that this smells great.

4.5 T: Taste is much like the nose. Super clean with a grassy sweetness that is powerful, yet elegant.

3.5 M: Light to lighter medium body. Carbonation is a tad low for the style, but still reasonable. Could use a bit more creaminess though.

4.0 D: This is probably the best tasting kolsch I've ever had. This truly is a great style that seemingly always gets overlooked.

11.2 oz bottle that pours out clear straw yellow fizzing carbonation from the bottom. White thin head leaves minimal lacing on the glass. Smells like sweet light fruits and bready malt backbone. I didnt get any hops from the nose but on the palate it makes its appearance as the end with a touch of bitterness. Sweet, light, balanced & my first Kolsch - I'll be back for more.

Pours a golden straw color with excellent clarity and a tall pillowy white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles visible. Decent head retention and lacing.

A nice aroma of honey, lemon and green apple. Wine-like grape notes with pale malts and a subtle hop accent.

Quite complex for a lighter beer. Bready, sweet malt with some fruitiness. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with high carbonation...a bit grainy with a dry pils-like finish that sticks to the palette.

Maybe the best Kolsch I've tasted. Highly sessionable.

Pale golden with good clarity and no visible effervescence, topped by half an inch thin white head that slowly dissipates to a delicate veil.
Nose is mild Pils malt with apple & pear and faint sulphury aroma.
Taste is an interplay of attenuated Pils malt, faint apple/pear-like fruitiness and hop-bitterness leading to a dry finish with sulphury notes.
Medium-light body is soft yet crispy on the palate, with moderate carbonation.

Delicate and subtle but not my kind of style hence the low overall impression. (330 ml, BB date 04-29-2012, into tulip.)

Inspired by another beer blogger, The BrewThusiast, I decided to crack open a Reissdorf Kölsch. When I started asking my sales reps a few months ago about quality imported brews, in four-packs and six-packs, this was one of the first brews suggested. The Kölsch is a great summer style brew, that doesn't get nearly the attention it deserves.

This Reissdorf comes in four-packs of 330mL bottles. It pours out a gorgeous clear lemon yellow color, with a medium thick white foam. There's a decent amount of foam at first, but it subsides pretty quickly, leaving behind only very little lacing. I give it a firm swirl, and some foam rises, but again fades back quickly.

The aromas are crisp, clean, simple, and perfect. I detect just a tiny touch of hops, but not IPA-style hops. The hops here is very soft, smooth, subtle; you barely even know they're there. There's a touch of grassy, or almost citrusy notes, but overall it's a very soft, clean nose.

On the palate there's a bit more complexity, but not a ton. The Kölsch is giving me exactly what I expected, just good beer. There's almost no detectable malty sweetness, and there's just the slightest bit of hops on the backside of my tongue. It's very dry, mouth-watering, and straight-forward.

I once heard Kölsch beers described as "the light, easy-drinking, girly beer" when a German doesn't want a big heavy brew. Not that I'd use those exact words, but the basic concept was right on the money. The Reissdorf Kölsch is great: simple, elegant, refreshing, balanced. It's everything I want from a Kölsch, and it's executed perfectly.

Ive heard about Kolsches, and how good they are. I wanted to try a German one before any American attempts.

Pours a very light, transparent yellow straw-like color. Light white head, fed by light, bubbly carbonation.

Smells very light and refreshing. the noble hops used were almost entirely aroma. hints of sweet malt and corn.

Taste is exactly like it smells, except a bit of a twang added. Aroma hops are there and are nice and floral. Malt is light with a touch of bittering hops just for good measure. Very light and balanced. I like it.

Im excited for this style, lets hops Americans can do similar!

A: Pours a nice darker yellow, and the head completely dissipates leaving no lacing behind.

S: I smelled some grain/ bread/ wheat, and some malt.

T: Crisp and some fruit up front with grains and the malt, finish is very strange, can't describe it.

M: Not quite medium bodied, but close. High drinkability, with a good amount of carbonation.

O: I would enjoy more than one and overall its a good beer. However I've had several other Kolsch's that I enjoyed more.

A: golden yellow color. Very, very clear. Tons of action from carbonation. Really big fluffy white head. Great retention

S: pale malts. Smells really... Fresh I guess. Lightly hoppy and slightly fruity

T: sweet malts. Very bready. Some light fruitiness with a grassy hop finish.

M: very light and dry. Nice carbonation

O: very, very drinkable and refreshing. Extremely crisp finish. For my first kolsch I was pleasantly surprised!

Gotta grade this for its style and its pretty good.

Pours a clear, light yellow with a big creamy head that fades fast but leaves ok lacing.

The aroma has a nice touch of herbal hops with a light, clean grain background. Fruity hints accent.

The flavor is clean and bready with a touch of grassy hops and herbal flavors that balance nicely with faint juicy fruit notes.

Thin, crisp, light and refreshing.

Overall, easy to drink and enjoyable.

Poured from a 11.2 ounce bottle into a Duvel tulip.

Pours a clear light-to-medium gold color with a 2 finger billowy, cloud-like snow white head. Nice head retention and lacing.

Smell: Sweet grainy notes with a touch of grassy hops.

Taste: Grassy notes up front followed sweet malt in the middle before ending with a light amount of hoppy bitterness at the finish. Aftertaste is light, dry and just a little bitter.

Mouthfeel: Light-to-medium-bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Goes down smooth.

Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. You could knock back several of these without any problem.

Overall: Good beer overall. This seems to be a beer that would be perfect on a hot summer day. I will be buying more. Worth a try.

A: Completely clear, dark hay in color, some carbonation visible and a nice fluffy white head.

S: This beer, like some other Kölsch's that I've had, has no real smell besides a slight grain/bread-like aroma.

T: Liquid bread, period. This tastes just like bread if you were to liquify it. There is a slight bitter note on the finish and the after-taste is a non-sweet, non-sour candy-like taste.

M: Light bodied and moderately carbonated, this beer has those scrubbing bubbles that help cleanse the palate for another sip.

D: Quite quaffable (QQ), I think this would be a wonderful lawnmower beer for those hot summer months.

A - Has a pale straw color with a huge frothy head on it.

S - Nothing but a nice spicey aroma from the hops.

An excellent Kolsch! Probably the best I've had. These beers have a light and smooth feel, but a good one really does have a rich flavor and smell to boot. This one delivers. It's a bit pricey around these parts, but if you're feeling good on a particular day and want something refreshing and flavorful, check Reissdorf out!

Appearance-Medium light gold with truly brilliant clarity. Moderately tall white head with moderate retention.

Aroma-Light, bready Pils malt aroma forms the foundation for a nice ester profile of orchard fruits, featuring primarily pear with some cherry and a hint of apple. Very low noble hop aroma. Smells fantastic.

Flavor-Crisp, fresh, and easy drinking. Moderate pils malt sweetness opens, followed by moderately low noble hop flavors. Esters from aroma are less pronounced here, with just the suggestion of light pear. The beer opens lightly sweet, which quickly dries as it moves into the finish. Bready malt expands in the finish along with medium low bitterness and slight noble hop flavor, and as the aftertaste goes on, some light cherry notes appear. Also, as the beer warms, the pear and cherry notes come through a bit stronger.

Mouthfeel-Crisp, well-attenuated, and thirst quenching. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

An incredibly awesome German Kölsch-one of my all time favorites. I could drink a shit-ton of this beer, all summer long.

Pours a golden pale yellow with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma and Taste of caramel malt, yeast, some sweet fruity esters and a light grassy note, with some light hops. Light body and carbonation on the palate. Finish is sweet malt, some biscuit and yeast, and light hops on the ending give it nice balance. Overall a good easy drinking and refreshing brew.

Appearance: Poured into a stange. The color is gold with a hint of amber. Three fingers of thick, buttery head dissipated slowly, leaving trails of foam on the glass, a thin lacing, and a ring around the edge.

Smell: A very nice bouquet of malts and fruit. Sweet malts, caramel, tart apple, strawberry, peach, and very inviting grassy hops.

Taste: Very lager-like for what is technically an ale. The taste does not offer as much sweetness and fruit, but that is perfectly fine with me. It is very malty and there is no dominant flavor. The mouthfeel is dry and each sip ends a tad bitter from grassy hops.

Drinkability: Good stuff. I am now convinced my German ancestors were not big beer drinkers. If they were, they must have emigrated due to crushing economic or social pressures.

A bright, clear golden color with lots of lively carbonation. Retention and lacing are good after a pour of a lush head of 4 fingers high. The aroma is crisp but light, and has elements of fruit (grapes), floral and earthy smells. The malt aromas are similar to a pilsner but muted.

Very clean taste, with light fruit flavor that is not sweet, but rather dry. Bitterness is light and I also get a small salty, or mineral flavor. Has a pilsner-like character but is less bold and bitter. The light body and high carbonation make this a smooth, easy-drinking summer beer, with a nicely balanced finish.

I would recommend this beer, especially in the hot summer.
