Pours into my pilsener glass a light, clear straw-oat yellow besmirched with rising bubbles and capped with a thick white weizen-like head that falls in an un-weizenlike amount of time, leaving behind little to no lacing.

The smell is of grape skins and pear juice, with a slight bit of charcoal and alcohol; Some honey-slathered toasted oat bread pops into the nose from sniff to sniff.

Some light, fruity flavors are prevalent - apple, pear, grapes. There's a bit of biscuity bready goodness, and a dry hop finish that is mild and quaffable. Keep in mind, this is - I believe - my first real German Kölsch, so I have nothing to compare this beer to.

The mouthfeel is smooth and very juicy, with a lightly carbonated distinctly lagerish body; It finishes nice and dry, as the description of a kölsch has promised me. Swallowing leaves the mouth completely barren of any feel, any flavor, anything. It all just goes away.

I'm being a bit conservative in my ratings despite my current opinion that this is a great beer. I would definitely have it again, and would definitely session it.

Appearance: Straw-gold; slightly cloudy; effervescent; small head

Aroma: Slightly sweet; bready; faint alcohol; grassy

Taste: Slightly sweet on start; leads to slightly dry, hoppy flavor; not overpowering; smooth overall, but not overly complex; refreshing, though

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

A - Pours a brilliantly clear golden straw color. White head dissipates quickly.

S - Low Pils malt aroma. No hope aroma. Very faint sulfur odor. Faint fruity esters present when aerated, but don't retain.

T - Balance is quite neutral, with attenuated malt profile and mild bitterness. Finish is dry and complimented with a pleasant 'tangy-ness'. Noticeable mineral character.

M - Very crisp finish, medium-light body. Above average carbonation. No warming from alcohol.

O - An excellent Kolsch. Pure and true to its heritage. You can't help but feel this is what many domestic brewers have attempted to copy. Drinkability is excellent.

Feels like this was the original from which every other adjunct American macro lager was Xeroxed & Xeroxed & Xeroxed.

Crystal clear & golden with a nice bit of quickly dissipating head.

Malty grains in the nose with a sort of hay-ness that crosses over into the first sip. Crisp with bitter tea-like astringency and and a little peachy. I feel like the constellations of ingredients are aligned in this Kölsch perfectly. Wish I could find it in 6 packs.
