750ml swing top growler filled at the brewery just hours ago.
A: Bright golden in color, and surprisingly clear. Creamy white head retains well, lacing is spotty.
S: Ruby red grapefruit juice, strong fresh pine needle aroma. Tangerine and starfruit, passion fruit. Simple underlying malt scent of dry grain.
T: Lots of grapefruit juice up front, though it is soon cut by a tide of resiny pine. Fresh, oily bitterness. Green herbal spiciness. Tropical fruit tastes of mandarin orange and peach play underneath. Malt base of grain and thin, light caramel. Alcohol is very well hidden, but a slight peppery hit comes at the end, bringing tropical esters with it. Drying finish with lingering oily hops and grapefruit bitterness.
M: Hefty medium body. Creamy and velvety smooth, very slightly chewy. Low carbonation.
O: Glad to see they didn't go too over the top with the grapefruit juice. It compliments the hop flavors very naturally and never takes center stage. The dextrose seems to have taken the edge off just enough and kept the body from being too big and syrupy. An easy beer to drink, even at 8.6% abv.

750 ml growler into my Hill Farmstead stemmed glass. Thanks to time4lunch for the brew.
A: Pours a clear tangerine color with a white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin film and thicker, frothier cap.
S: Very clean flavors. Grassy and citrusy with a nice clean, sweet malt bill. A little candied fruit/honey like sweetness. A little tangelo on the nose as well.
T: An explosion of clean and juicy fruits. Mango and Pineapple with a big candied grapefruit. It has a light, bitter grassy note to it. Not quite piney, but verging very close. Nice doughy bread malts provide a sweetness the compliments the beer.
M: Unfortunately the growler leaked in transit, but luckily it was still delivered. Devoid of carbonation pretty much, but damn is it still nice and refreshing. Sweet and fruity finish.
O: If this had some carbonation it would be a whole lot better, but having said that I love a highly fruity, tropical DIPA and this one fits the bill. Hopefully I'll get to try some offerings from Tree House again in the future.

Growler filled on 08/24/2013 poured into a tulip glass.
Pours a clear, bright golden copper color with a pretty much non-existent head. A small ring of foam does collect around the edges of the glass when the the pour settles but nothing that really stays. There are tiny wisps of lacing left on the glass with each sip. Despite the lack of head and minor lacing the brightness and clarity of the beer are really nice.
The nose is full of huge citrus and some lesser tropical notes. The grapefruit notes are huge and lead into some nice mango and pineapple aromas. There may be some malt in there somewhere but my nose can detect any with the copious amount of hops here. It's really pretty straightforward, just wave after wave of citrusy hop aromas.
The taste is full of the same citrusy and tropical hop character, although it's really a lot of grapefruit and other citrus and just a hint of some tropical notes that bring a quick but potent sweetness to each sip. There is a slight bitterness at the finish of each sip but it definitely doesn't stick around.
Medium mouthfeel with carbonation a bit lower than that. The carbonation isn't low but it's definitely not medium either. The lower carbonation gives the beer a creamy and unbelievably smooth finish. As mentioned before, there is a quick but potent hit of sweetness in each sip. Normally a beer this big that is sweet ends up being cloying or syrupy but this never even comes close. Easily the smoothest beer I've had with an ABV as high as it is.
This beer is outstanding. Perhaps there could have been more of a head and better lacing but that is to be expected sometimes with a beer that is low in carbonation to being with and then poured from a growler on top. The hop flavors and aromas are great but the mouthfeel is exceptional. It really makes the beer.

Impressive offering from Tree House brewing. The beer pours a beautiful golden copper color with a tightly bubbled bone white head. The aroma hits one of hops, hops, and more hops . . . Citrus, pineapple, mango, peach, topical fruits all linger in the nose. Grapefruit big time. I'm getting excited.
The beer itself is smooth, and delicious. Some DIPA tend to over do the boldness and become super bitter, super malty, and just far too much of one thing. This beet is ultra balanced. It's refreshing. It's light. It's awesome. It is slightly sweet, probably from the grapefruit juice. I love the hop bill in this one. Good stuff all around.
