330 ml bottle into signature chalice, best before 11/21/2013. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to small cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon zest, apple, pear, pepper, clove, light bread, grass, floral earthiness, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters. Taste of big lemon, pear, apple, apricot, pepper, clove, bread, honey, grass, candi sugar, floral, earth, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, bread, floral, grass, honey, earth, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly slick, crisp, and prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong pale ale. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity and spicy esters; and quite smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

BB 28/10/2014

The beer is clear golden in colour, with a mountainous, fluffy, white head. Head slowly fades away.

Nose contains fruit scents; lemon and perhaps a bit of peach. A bit spicy. Some bready malt notes.

Taste is very nice. Fruity elements, grape, lemon and peach. A bit of a spicy flavour, and a sweet, honey-esque finish. A nice malty backbone.

Full bodied, moderate to strong carbonation level, very creamy.

Overall, very good. Better than I expected. A very strong BSPA.

A - Pours a slightly hazy pale golden colour, finger of soapy head, relentless retention and some sporadic lacing.

S - Grainy, vineous, musty citrus, honey, peppery spice, hints of cloves and leafy greens on the finish.

T - The cloves come through off the top with heavy citrus rind, bitter leafy greens, sour apple, hints of bubble gum and banana, mystery grains and champagne on the finish.

M - Super light, loads of carbonation and a touch of dryness on the finish.

O - A tasty brew that boasts loads of Belgian flavours, yet also has a hint of sour ale qualities. Leafy greens and musty grains make for enough flavour to cover up the surprisingly drinkable ABV. Well worth a try and I'll be sure to grab another bottle or two before they sell out.

Single bottle from the LCBO - part of a sizable haul of Belgian brews recently. Poured into a Chouffe tulip.

Bright golden in colour, effervescent at first, and with about a half inch of foam that recedes into a fine ring.

Nose is typical Belgian blonde ale - grain, a mild musk, a bit of lemon, coriander and wine.

Tastes fine, dry and herbal to the finish. Sweet, mix of fruit and grain. My love of this style of beer is waning a bit, but this one ain't bad.

Overcarbonated this is, which makes for a real burpy affair. Medium bodied, dry finish, alcohol is warming.

Not a bad brew by any stretch, but not blowing me away. Might cellar one to see if a bit of aging will smooth things out.

(4.0) A: Slightly hazy straw colour with a stark white foam head. Good retention and similar lacing.

(4.25) S: Banana, peaches, cane sugar, bubblegum, cloves, and pepper. Solid variety of strong and robust aromas. Very nice.

(4.25) T: Full and juicy tropical fruits, grains, cane sugar, cloves, and some fruity bubblegum. Dry grainy taste comes through on the back-end. Spot-on levels of sweetness and dryness – Not overly sweet. Alcohol present but quite well hidden considering. Great taste.

(4.25) M: Full bodied with lively carbonation. Slick and textured with an appropriate lingering bitter feel.

(4.25) D: A very well rounded belgian strong that is very delicious and full of great flavour.

330ml Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO for $3.50

Appearance - Clear yellow colour with a large size fizzy white coloured head. There is a high amount of carbonation showing and there is some fairly good lacing. The head lasted for 3-4 minutes.

Smell - Breads/grains, white grapes, coriander/clove/yeast

Taste & Mouth - There is a very high amount of carbonation and I can taste bread/grains mixed with some lemons, green grapes, and some corn. There is also some coriander/clove/yeast and a bit of almond sweetness. It ends with a dry peppery light fruit aftertaste.

Overall - There are lots of different flavours going on which keeps the beer interesting. The booze is well hidden and apart from the very high amount of carbonation, there are very few things I'd change. This is a beer well worth trying.

Served in a tulip. Big, fluffy white head. Very pale golden blond.

Mild aromatics of slightly hopped orchard fruit. Medium to light bodied, smooth, only slightly losing its silkiness as it finishes. Flavours are dominated by pear, but nicely cut through by a grassy hop bitterness. There is a sweet unbaked dough-like character that gains strength as the beer warms up. Kind of like a punched-up Blond with the alcohol making itself more evident on the finish.

Really great balanced beer.

A beautiful beer to behold. It has a crisp golden straw color. A super tall bright white head. Aggressively attenuation helps to prop up this head to nearly never ending.

Aroma has a rich malt nose with yeasty esters and lemony tart hops.
Taste is like bubbly champaign across the palate. Light and effervescent. Slightly malty and hoppy with sharp yeasty esters. Alcohol is absent from the taste which at 9.5 is pretty gosh darn amazing.
Drinks smooth and dry.
An excellent beer, well made and well done I do say

No date, into tulip.

Slightly chill hazed lemon yellow pour. Big, foamy snow white head. Lacing is minimal.

Sweet grapes, slightly spicy pepper, aromatic Belgian yeast with fresh cut grass and baked bread.

Slight alcohol, wheat, pepper, Belgian yeast and apples. Has a touch of a vegetable finish.

Light body, massive amounts of carbonation.

This really didn't do it for me. It isn't bad, I'm just glad it isn't bigger than 330cl
