very active moon crater head placed on top of a hazy golden hue. Gobs of carbonation visible. clean malty nose, hint of light spice. Taste adds biscuit, apple, and pear to round it out. alchohol is well hidden. WOW!!! light to medium body. This is a quite a tasty treat.

First thing I noticed was that this has the big aroma reminiscent of a tripel, those heady, estery Belgian beer aromas that we all know and love. When smell trumps sight you know you’re on to something!

There’s a generous layer of foam capping my pour. Clear, golden color. A big spicy, fruity bouquet with lots of citrus and apricot that come through. Very effervescent, with a big finish. It’s chewy but seems lighter on the palate thanks to the carbonation. Did the bittering hops they used turn this into a big, boozy, bitter Belgian blond? Smells fantastic, looks great, tastes good but finishes solid—when what I was expecting was a home run. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good beer. But for the price and the reputation of both brewers this collaboration doesn’t meet expectations.

Pours out dark cloudy golden. Head is white and very frothy. Retention is amazing. Lacing is minimal. The Nose is grainy with with a mix of citrus and floral hops. Picking up sweet apricot, sour apple, and candy sugar. Very tropical for the most part. Like the nose. The taste has sweet orange, pineapple, bitter hops. And a slight alcohol warmth. Mouth feel is medium bodied and very soft. Washes over nicely. Carbonation is also excellent. This one is amazing. Complex enough to be enjoyable yet simple enough to relax to.

A - Pours hazy straw in color into my snifter with visible sediment and almost two fingers of fluffy white head that has moderate retention and minimal lacing.

S - Sweet malts, mild citrus hops, bread and yeast, a touch of rye and subtle mint notes.

T - Yeasty and malty, nice spice throughout with hints of rye as well, faint hops and little alcohol presence.

M - Perhaps it's the style, but too much carbonation for my liking, especially paired with the natural spiciness of this beer.

O - A nice beer for the most part. Just really, REALLY fizzy.

750mL bottle (best by 1/13/2013) poured into a tulip. Hazy straw color, thick fluffy white head leaves nice sticky lacing.

Aroma is Belgian yeast, spices (pepper, coriander), lemons, flowers.

Taste is bright, peppery, floral, and fruity. Nice balance with the hops. Crisp, sharp mouthfeel, semi-dry finish. A little mustiness from the yeast but not overpowering.

Overall this is really good. Kind of a cross between a Belgian strong ale and a saison.

A- This beer pours a clear yellow body that becomes a bit murkier with each pour. There is a thin white film that breaks up and is supported by a gentle carbonation of microbubbles.

S- The perfumed yeast has a nice bright natural mint note to it with a soft citrus hops finish that is a bit soft.

T- The taste of green mint jelly is dry and blends with wheat bread note as the beer warms. There is the distinctive St. Feuillien yeast character that comes through with a fullness from the yeast in the finish. A woody bready quality blends with some pale malt notes.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a great big fizz that grows as the beer opens up. It scrubs the tongue and almost has a burning quality to it that is not the alcohol but the fizz.

O- There is a nice beer under there but much of it is hid buy the fizz. The mint is nice and crisp and balances with the other flavor well. There are some nice saison yeast notes but they soon become hidden aswell. It is a bit more dry than most of St. Feuillien's beers but that is a pleasant compromise.

Clear yellow gold, lingering small head with lace, big horse blanket, light malt and anise aroma. Flavors of bubblegum, sweet malt, pineapple, some light bitterness. Signification carbonation and a full body, though I'm not sure I'd call it easily quaffable. Interesting overall, but not what I'd call delicious compared to most of their other beers that I love...can be a very cool brewery to visit.

A: crazy 4 finger head with streams of champagne bubbles, coating the glass in foam. Great head retention.

S: citrus, lemon, florals, cider, nutmeg, amarillo hops, Slight Belgian yeast smell but not overwhelming

T: sour and bready yeast, sharp lemon zest, candy sugar

M: medium body, sweet syrupy at first, dry finish, strong and sharp carbonation, slightly spicy finish (combination of carbonation, high alcohol, and dryness)

O: Delicious! Refreshing and drinkable but with plenty of flavor.

Pours, a hazy golden color. It produced a long lasting fluffy white head.
The aroma was of honey, banana, citrus.
The taste was slightly sweet, honey, spices, citrus, bready. The alcohol is barely noticeable. The carbonation is high, and has a sticky medium mouth-feel.
Fairly easy drinking.

A: The beer is hazy light golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured into a snifter glass with a two finger high bright white head that slowly died down yet consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of spices in the nose along with hints of floral and citrusy hops.
T: Like the smell, the overall taste is quite spicy (likely due to the combination of rye, spices and yeast), which lingers into the aftertaste.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and rather dry on the palate with a high amount of carbonation.
O: This beer shares a lot of similarities with a tripel given its relatively light body and hides the alcohol well from both the smell and the state, making it a very easy beer to sip.

I untied the wire and put my thumb on the cork and it shot off with a huge pop and exploded onto my cieling.

Pours a nice light golden straw color. Huge fluffy white head that is not fading to lots of sticky lacing all too quickly. In fact very slowly.

Smells like cloves, bubblegum, a little anise maybe and a light citrus aroma.

Tastes are more bubblegum sweetness, spicy with a large wheat flavor and a nice dry earthy finish.

Mouthfeel is light to medium and very well carbonated. Smooth and crisp.

Overall is really good. Glad this finally made it to Oregon even if it is a year after the release.

A: Golden straw color. Pretty hazy like a Hefe. Huge head, three fingers. Very fluffy. Great retention and lacing.

S: Very spicy. Corriander? Cloves. Lemon. Alcohol.

T: Cloves. Spices. Lemon.

M: Medium bodied. Sticky feel.

O: Decent brew. Probably not for me. Little to sweet/sour.

Big thanks goes out to Jake1605 for sending me this one in a past trade! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller oversized wine glass. Poured a hazy straw yellow with a four finger pure white fizzy head that subsided to two finger very slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, sweet alcohol, and spices. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, fruit, sweet hop, sweet alcohol, and spices. It had a light feel on the palate with very high carbonation. Ovearll this was a pretty nice brew. It had a very nice flavor and aroma going on in this one. The spice aspect was a little off-putting to me and I don't feel as if it were needed (made it feel like a saison). Granted in the aroma the spice aspect mixed in quite well. I got this back in the day only because it was on the old Top Buzz List, and now I can see why. This one is a definite must try.

Had this on tap at the grill next door in Haverhill, MA a few days ago so will be doing this review by memory.

A~ Looked like what you would expect from a belgian strong pale... light color, thick white head great lacing.

S~ Smell kind of reminded me of a Delerium Tremons, very complex, some strong belgian yeast notes in there, maybe some fruity/ citrus notes in there as well. Great smelling beer.

T~ WOW, after having my first taste of this I actually started laughing because it was so good. Exactly what you want to expect out of the style, a great tasting beer, cannot tell that its 9.5 percent at all. The malty spicyness completely tookover and just made this beer a pleasure to drink all the way down... very happy I had a chance to drink this on tap while it was available.

M~ Good carbonation levels, not too high, not too low. Very refreshing after a long day of work in the sun.

O~ Great beer, if you have a chance to try this beer I highly recommend you do so, for it will only be around so long.

Collaboration ale with Green flash.

Hazy gold with rushing bubbles and a lush, whipped look. yeastie bits providing lots of life to a full, clumpy, pure-white head that stands strong. Lots of lace with ultra-slow dissipation.

Big earthy, musky hop aroma, whole cone, freshly picked, wet hop-like hop aroma...honestly, I've never smelled a more potent freshly picked hop cone aroma. amazing. Tangy yeast with big earthy musty musk, dry earth and spices, golden wheat...did I mention that amazingly fresh Amarillo hop scent???!! slightly fruity but damn...that hop aroma is nice.

The first hit is a big WOW. amazingly complex flavor's and supremely jazzy, lush feel that keeps this interesting right til the very last drop. The yeast is simply amazing, hearty musky dry earth, add the delightful, fresh hop flavor and it's off the charts! Crisp, light wheat flavored malt with subtle sweetness and gentle spices and pepper. The hops are not at all bitter but dry, earthy and full of hearty flavor. The hops and yeast together provide everything i love in the flavor of this style. The malt plays a supporting role in just the right way. The warming heat is a gentle presence that falls right into the balance perfectly.

This collaboration delivers the best of the Old and New world style's in all of the best ways, the fresh American hops and traditional complex yeast brings forth a perfectly forged brew for the ages. I love this style, and this version is beyond the pale!

Poured into large snifter/tulip type glass.

A- First this thing opened with incredible pop! Cork shot out like I've never seen a beer do before. Pours golden orange with an absolutely huge head... Very light and foamy white head that is stable as hell and leaves wonderful lacing. A little hazy.

S- Very floral, and sweet warming cinnamon hit the nose first. Finished fruity citrus to really round it all out... Had everything I like in a Belgian beer such as this.

T/M- Belgian, yeast take front stage. Extremely effervescent and very spicy; so much pepper it tickles the sinuses even... Saison/Belgian Pale hybrid beer is what this is.. So much going on overall. The spices are warm but everything else is floral and estery. A lot of the characteristics of a belgian yeast pop. Medium body but carbonation really lightens up on the tongue...

O- Great beer but hard to get a good grasp on. It went together surprisingly well, but still was a lot to handle at once. At 9.5 percent though, damn that was hidden incredibly well so it gets points there. $9.99 not bad for this 750

Draft at the Falling Rock Taphouse in Denver, CO.

Pours a clear golden orange color with golden yellowish orange hues and a two finger frothy, soapy white head that slowly settles into a thick lasting ring. Chunks of soap lacing left behind.  

Sweet estery, light fruit aroma with hints of zesty peppery spice, alcohol, bubblegum and earthy, soily hops.  Belgian esters are  very prominent with bubblegum, light fruit and zesty peppery spice.

Medium bodied with a dry earhy hop preence up front which isn't too bitter. This is complimented by zesty peppery spice, notably coriander, pepper and bitter hops.  There's also a strong Belgian estery light fruit presence with hints of bubblegum, apple and strawberry.  alcohol phenols and heat toward thw finish.  The 9.5% is decently nsskrd with heat toward the finish and slight wamrth in the chest.  Faint malts underneath but this beer is all spice and hop up front followed by sweet fruit and bubblegum with booziness in finish.

Served to me on tap at Dexter's Pub (Madison WI) into a rather large brandy snifter.

Appears a slightly murky golden straw color with no head, but rather a small ring of foam. I wish I had unobstructed line of sight to see how aggressively the bartender poured it, but alas this was not the case.
The nose is an odd thing. If the snifter is swirled briefly, the brew releases small controlled bursts of delicious Saison spicing and horseblanket funk... but in very light amounts and only for short periods of time. When left alone and settled, the nose is entirely Belgian in character. By which I mean it smells of pears and peaches poached in a lightly sweetened vanilla syrup, mashed up into psuedo jam or preserves, and spread upon a biscuit or cracker with a chaser of lemony citrus hops. Taste follows the nose mostly, the intermittent Saison character blending in with the Amarillo hopping so intertwined that it becomes a single entity, counterbalancing the sweetness of the malt quite nicely yet not overpowering it. Somebody did a great job of balancing this brew. There is an interesting sort of subdued earthy twang to the malt flavor that I associate with properly done rye malts. Body is pleasingly carbonated, on the lighter side of medium heft, crisp and refreshing.
The name translated means "Friendship Beer" I know that I certainly am great friends with this beer now that I have been introduced. :)

A - Poured out a hazy, golden orange color with a one-finger, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled yeasty with fruity notes. Also, some spiciness.

T - It tasted fruity with apple and pear flavors. Good spiciness with a yeasty kick.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish and a warm alcohol presence.

O - This is a really tasty beer. I'm glad Sycamore had it on tap.

Lot number 2699 best by date 4/22/12. Poured into a Chimay goblet.

Uncorked with a resounding pop. The pour is a nice blonde color. Very good carbonation. A nice one-two finger thick foamy head appears and retains nicely.

Smell is nice. Reminds of a saison but not as grassy. Very clean. First taste is wonderful. Very crisp. Hops are very much in the background, but are slightly noticeable. The beer has a certain "bite" to it. It's quite tasty. Mouthfeel is light but the carbonation is very apparent.

Overall it is a very good beer as collaboration between two outstanding breweries. This is a good summertime beer. Cheers!

Huuuge head of 5 fingers, messy lacing, hazy golden wheat color.

Nose belgian golden and saison, light golden malts, light spices, light citrus, bit sweet malts, wheat, lemony, touch of grassy hops.

Taste sweet belgian golden malts, light candi sugar, some lighter fruits, little booze warmth and tingle, chewy but sweet malts, light spices and citrus, light wheat, bit sticky, finishes a bit dry, mouth anesthetized with tingly booze, lingering malts and candi sugar.

Mouth is med bodied with tons of carb and warming and tingly booze, I was originally thinking a bit over carbonated, but it seems to balance the sweetness a bit.

Overall great, nice flavors, bit warming booze, a bit sweet, great flavors, candi sugar, light spices.

On tap poured into a tulip.

Pours a light clear amber with a small white head, light bubbles. Nose is wheat and sharp, a bit of lemon and spice, great.

Taste is sharp an tart, nice hoppy bite rounded out by a very solid spicy yeast. Very clean and crisp - very good.

Biere de L'Amitie, collaboration between St. Feuillien and California's Green Flash. Belgian strong golden ale, using rye and wheat malt, and American Amarillo hops in the end. A blend of Belgian tradition and American innovation. Straw golden color, effervescent, yeasty, hoppy Belgian ale.

Brilliant golden color, lightly hazy, lovely, lace leaving ivory head.

Zesty, bright aromatics, citrus and spice, lemon and pepper. Clean, fruity, hoppy, and beautiful.

Taste: smooth and gentle, yet dominated by lean, bready malt and crisp, bitter hoppiness. Hangs long on the palate, leaves a tidy bitter trail along, with bright lemon and lime flavors. Up comes pineapple and pear. It leaves slowly and gracefully. Sweet fruit flavors keep step with grassy, bitter hoppy edge all the way.

I recommend this for golden ale devotees and hop heads alike. May both factions come together over this fine ale.

Draft service into a half-pint goblet at Stone Bistro.

A: Slightly hazy, medium golden color with one finger of white foam head. Light lacing remains on the glass.

S: Mild, with restrained bright fruit and some equally tame Belgian yeast esters. It leaves more of an impression of breezy green fields than anything ripe or sugary. No alcohol is detected.

T: Begins off-dry, with bright fruit that is surprisingly juicy and layered along with an appealing citric tartness that is defining. Fruit is variably tropical, peachy, and lemony, without being overbearing. Refined pale malt shows up late, remaining clean and with mild Belgian yeast character throughout. Bitterness is present, but well-behaved, while alcohol plays no role here.

M: Thin to medium viscosity, sleek and supple on the palate with no sharp edges, and with low carbonation.

D/O: This beer is obviously something special, but it may be a bit hard to pin down--not offering any single quality up for hyperbolic aggrandizing. While the smell is a little understated, everything else about it seems to be quietly and respectfully mindful of its other aspects. It is uncommonly smooth for an ale of its strength, which is as good a feature as any to hold up for public appraisal. Consider each sip, it will go by too fast.
