Tomato Bistro is new to the Manayunk restaurant scene (about 1 year old), but its adjoining establishment the Couch Tomato Cafe has been a long time staple of the town.
The Bistro is a more upscale version of the classic quick bite, Cafe. In the bistro it's small plates, pizzas and salads with a few main courses as menu choices. At lunch they have an amazing buffet with a lot of variety for only $10. Their tap and bottle selection is very good for manayunk. They have around 10 rotating drafts. I believe draft lines are supplied from sixtel kegs which means the tap selection turns over fast. If you eat there one week, the next they might be out of the beer you tried last time. They have amazing choices like great seasonal pumpkin ales, great potent IPAs and Wit/Weiss beers. I will say the tasters they serve are on the pricier side of $10 for four 4oz. pours while you can get a full 16oz. craft draft for $6, it makes sense to order multiple single beers. Seems like they just instituted a long awaited happy hour with discount drafts. Hopefully, it'll make it a bit more casual and bar like upstairs and someone will finally start sitting at the bar.
