poured from 16oz can into pint glass

not sure how long this has been laying around I just found it in my wine cooler

A-amber colored witha 2 finger head that leaves a lot of lacing as it fades

S-nothing really of note here just a faint graininess

T-after the smell it was a nice suprise to get a spicy rye bread taste at the end after some hopiness to start

M-nice medium body with lots of carbonation

O-my first rye that I would probably look for again

16oz can

A - Pours a lighter golden color. Pearly white head formation. Little bit of lacing. Somewhat opaque.

S - Yeasty nose, not much rye coming through. Fruity and a little bit spicy.

T - Starts off a little bit dry, light amounts of malt and some graininess. MId-stream gets more balanced, a little bit of hopping. Finishes smooth and clean, light flavors.

M - Moderate body, light in carbonation. CLean finish, no alcohol warmth and just a hint of bitter stickiness.

OD - A solid easy drinking ale. Nothing overly special, but for a day sitting out on the literal beach I could see a few of these figurative beaches beside me.

I CAN't believe that my local in-person trader has begun making CANTrades of his own! This came to me from Tone77 who apparently got his from cpolking. The CANQuest (TM) supports this kind of forward thinking and asks that you keep us CANHeads in mind if you have new beers in a CAN to spare.

From the CAN: "Boji Beach Golden Rye Ale - Light golden in color, crisp, smooth and dry with slight bitterness to balance the sweetness of the malt. The rye adds a bit of spiciness and some bakery qualities which enhance the complexity of this beer. Well received by Ameri[CAN] Lager fans."; "The OBC Pledge: - I believe in the 3 R's: Readiness, Recreation & Relaxation, - I believe that [CAN]s are best for enjoying Craft Beer - in the most fun places, - I will only drink responsibly - often, but responsibly, - I will never litter, and always recycle".

Once more, the Crack revealed a brimful CAN of beer that was anxious to come out and greet me. Does anyone remember the seemingly exploding CAN of beer in the video for Devo's "Whip It"? When a beer is this active, I employ a lighter hand on the Glug than I might otherwise. That was a smart idea on my part because I still ended up with two-plus fingers of dense French-Vanilla colored head with nice retention. Hell, I grew anxious waiting for it to fall so that I could begin to indulge. Color had an oh-so-slight haze to its orange-amber cast. Nose did NOT smell like lager, but instead, it was very bready with the inherent peppery bite created by the presence of rye. Moutfeel was medium-to-full with a lot of pleasant flavors happening on the tongue, including bready malt, grassy hops and rye pepperiness, but nothing like a lager. Not even really an AmeriCAN Blonde as I find them to generally be too sweet. This was a good beer, but the marketing seems wrong-headed. The finish was dry, which again may not be to the liking of a lager drinker. This was a good beer, no question, certainly deserving of cooler space, but I have a different sub-group of beer drinkers in mind for it.

A friend brought a variety pack of Okoboji back from Iowa. This one stood out among the others. A tinted golden color appeared after pouring giving a generous white head. The initial taste was mildly hoppy, though one would certainly not confuse it with an IPA. The rye notes do not enter the picture until the end of the experience. I found it a little odd that the rye notes became progressively stronger. The carbonation brushes the notes away quickly, so the taste does not last long.

Thanks to cpolking for sending this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, some rye. Taste is grains, rye, some malts, just a touch of hops. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

A pint can brewed by Great River out of Davenport, IA. Plastic-wrapped labeling.

Medium orange gold pour with an inch of off-white foam, not much lace. Smell is fairly non-discript, a bit grassy and caramel malt.

Taste is malty grains, mildly sweet, I'm not getting any rye, if there is rye, the spicy note I expect is well-buried. Moufeel is medium light, carbonation is moderate.

Overall this drinks like a malt-forward pilsner. It's not off-putting, nor anything to seek out.

This is my 1st Rye so I have no Rye's to compare it to. The taste isn't half bad! I admit I like thicker sweeter beers, but this is a good summer beer. It's a drier tasting beer.

It delivers a nice aroma, and the appearance is good mildly dark golden hue. I call it dusk @ 8:30 pm over Lake Okoboji in late July on a nice day!

So what should you chill to while sippin this summer thirst quencher? Well you could listen to the Beach Boys 'SMiLe' sessions. That would be a good choice, but I have one waaayyy better, baby.

A: Light golden color with a bit foamy, white head; lacing is good

S: Sweet bready aromas followed by a grainy, spicy rye aroma; mostly bready and grainy and a touch of a spicy quality

T: Just as the aromas indicated this is bready and grainy and a touch spicy; there may be a slight buttery quality but it works well with the bready rye flavors

F: A touch thin but enough beer sticks to the roof of the mouth to make this work

O: Another solid brew from Okoboji; a solid rye from a hopefully up and coming brewery

The beer pours a dark golden, yellow, orange in color with a tall and long-lasting half-inch of thick, white, foamy head that adds a nice creamy touch to the beer.

The aroma is floral and grassy, a touch of sweetness, and a note of the rye.

The taste is deep rich grain, a touch of rye, flowers and grass, a touch of sweetness, but with enough bitterness to finish dry and crisp. This is a good and flavorful American pilsner like golden/blonde ale.
