Deep garnet color with a short-lived head and no lacing. Thin, watery body and medium-light carbonation. Really the thing that needs the most work on this one is the watery, thin texture. The chocolate and peppery spice over roasted malt combination going on here is actually somewhat interesting but the constant distraction the sparseness of the texture provides gets in the way of actually enjoying the flavor. The nose is also a bit muted on top. Needs some adjustment to shine.

Deep brown body with a solid medium tan head with real nice lacing. Scent is roasty as is much of the flavor that s accented by chocolate and smoke. The feel has a medium body with a very slight coarseness in the ending. Overall this is a solid porter, a bit overwhelming in the roastiness but decent nonetheless.
