Description: Rye Pale Ale aged in rye whiskey barrels.
Served on tap @ FoBAB
A: pours a clear gold, nice frothy white head with good retention
S: nose dominated with spicy rye, hints at caraway, raw oak in the middle, not a whole lot of spirit character present, though the oak is very prominent
T: Rye and oak dominate the palate, very dry with clean flavors, nice feature of rye, unique flavors, unlike any rye brew I've had
MF: high carbonation, dry mouthfeel, thin body
O: very mild flavored, especially considering its barrel treatment, very drinkable

Barrel aged golden rye. Did it mellow out?
It pours a golden color. Not a very big aroma.
You can taste the whiskey sweetness and the rye spice. There’s a zestines to this that barrel-aging didn’t eliminate, along with several layers of flavor. I pick up the wood—is it oak?—and the bourbon sweetness, along with some vanilla notes. There’s a bigger booze heft to this than it would seem, judging by the abv, but it plays so well with everything that I don’t mind in the least.

On tap at FOBAB. A Rye Pale Ale in barrels? I HAVE to try this :)
Pours a fairly clear golden yellowish orange. Nice white frothy head. Smells spicey and subtly sweet. The aroma isn't particularly barrel heavy. Tastes very rye heacy. Light sweet pale malts with a touch of vanilla kick. Well carbonated. Solid mouthfeel. Overall quite enjoyable

Barrel aged rye in rye whiskey barrels.
Looks just like a rye. Nose has slight woodiness, but is dominated by spicy rye. Taste takes on bit of wood tannens but is spicy rye. Not bad, but is not as dominant as expected. Mouthfeel is a bit dry.
Not bad but not sure I will revisit.

Had at FoBaB, poured into my glass sampler.
Great white foamy head, light orange/red color.
Carbonation is what you would expect for a pale/IPA, the wood aging made it smoooth in my mouth.
Smell: rye, rye, C-hops, woodsy action, hint of rye whiskey, and rye
Taste: upfront C-hops, spice from carbs and C-hops, then 2 levels of delicious rye flavor: slightly spicy rye beer then smooth rye whisky. Finishes slightly sweet.
God I love rye, it makes everything better. One of my favorite offerings from Bell's.
