Pours a bright yellow with a small white fizzy head. Looks a lot like most lagers.

Smells of grassy/piney hops with a little cracker.

Tastes is unique. Definitely has a little graham cracker like crispness, but also loads of grassy hops with a little pineyness as well.

Mouthfeel is a little heavy for a lager with good high carbonation level.

Always glad to try to a new style and I think Bell's hit their mark here, but I wasn't the biggest fan. The hops were a bit too bitter with not enough malt support and the alcohol was a bit too present for its ABV. Solid brew and definitely recommended for something unique, but not my favorite.

On-tap August 5th at Bell's

Pours a clear golden yellow with an off white soft creamy head that leaves decent lacing.

Smells like a fresh fruit bowl with some sugar thrown on top.

Great flavor! Fruit and sweet malts with a citrus hop finish. This is well balanced and quite enjoyable.

Has a medium body with active carbonation yet lager smooth.

Overall this may be my favorite lager I have encountered thus far. Rumor is they dry hop this one and I quite enjoy what it brings to the table.

I recently had the Quinannan Falls Lager in a liter glass ($3.75 on Wednesdays) at Dan's Tavern in Saline, MI. A very good APL and went very well with the pub fare. Good strong taste all the way through without a strong after taste.

I highly recommend it while you can find it.

Had this on tap at Ashley's in A2, and was intent on trying new beers. As a big fan of Bell's Brewery I asked what was on tap from Bell's and the bartender recommended Q-falls, and described it as two-hearted had a baby with a lager and he was right on. Not usually a lager fan, but this is delicious! Like a very light bodied, very flavorful APA, if you see this pick it up. Great blend of styles!

tranlucent, sunlight gold from the tap to a standard pint glass with a thin foamy white long lasting head leaving lace to the rim.

very subdued / subtle light hops aroma and not much else.

crisp, clean subtle piney hops up front, followed closely by a bready, dry finish. citrus notes also jumping out after the first few sips. refreshing, and very agreeable. impresses me as a nice american pale rather than a lager.

highly carbonated, crisp, light bodied, minimal bitters to the front of the tongue.

drinkable - yep.

Pours a crisp clear golden yellow. Not much head to speak of... Hops on the nose but nothing too strong. very light. not much else on the nose. Tastes hoppy. Very hoppy for such a light beer. Very mellow and smooth. Highly drinkable but for the percent its a bit too hoppy for me

A-pale yellow with white lacing
S-stram grassy smell. More on citrus hops side
T-tastes a lot like it smells. Nicely balances with a slight edge to the hops
M-extremely light and crisp.
D-Very drinkable. Taste gone in no time

I've had this on-tap a few times at Ashley's in Ann Arbor. Served in a pint glass.

A - Puffy two-fingered off-white foam that settles to a thin cap, leaving behind splotchy lace. The body is a transparent golden straw color. Looks like most pale lagers, but with better head retention and lacing.

S - It's a hoppy lager - verging on IPL levels. Big notes of tropical fruits, citrus, and herbaceous elements, and minimal malt character that imparts some faint dough character.

T - Again, it's heavy on the tropical fruits, with notes of apricot and peach as well. The malt character is light and graham crackery. Finishes very clean. I was surprised to see this was 6.4% - I was sure it was in the 4-5% range.

M - Medium-light body, very crisp and refreshing, medium-high carbonation. Spot on for the style.

D - This is a superb session lager. Not sure what else you'd want from the style. Wish they sold this stuff in the mini-kegs.

Had a couples on tap the other night.

A- Pours a light golden yellow color. Half finger white head dies down rather quickly. Couple light streaks of the lace on the side of the glass. Looks rather average at best.

S- Big hops in the front...well not huge like DIPA huge but for a lager this is exploding with hop aroma. Citrus, mango, pineapple, with a hint of pine as well. There is a light sweet bready malt in the background and kiss of lagering yeast as well. This smells fantastic!!!

T- The hops in this one come through huge and well even more huge! Citrus and pine hops come through in a balanced assaulton the palate. Over the top hops for a lager which is refreshing. Although, the bready malts come in the backing and balance this beast out before the hops give one last bitter bite on the tail end of the beer.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is perfect for the beer. Hops and more hops left on palate with a hint of bready malt. Piney hops and a hint of alcohol left long into the aftertaste. This beer is balanced for style with a little hop fowardness toward the end of the mouthfeel. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol. Clean and crisp flavors throughout the entire beer.

D- This beer is a dominate under the radar beer. I drank many many pints of this and couldn't have been happier. I wish Bell's would bottle this one because they will have another beer to add to their onslaught of the craft beer world. The ABV is low enough to drink this all night and I wish I could plan on doing just that next time I see this on tap!!!

First off, I have to start this off with wow. It pours a BMC like dark straw yellow with no head at all. It look no different than a Bud or Miller Lite. This deception leads to a greater finish. It smells great. It has this Gumballhead mixed with IPA aroma to it. It is very piny, floral, has hoppy bitterness to go with subtle sweetness. The flavor mirrors this. It has the flavor of Gumballhead mixed with an IPA to feature a perfect mix of the two. This is by far the best lager I've ever had. It drinks very light and smooth. The content is very deceptive. It drinks so light and has exceptional flavor that this beer can creep up on you. It is excellent, absolutely phenomenal. Wow. It's disappointing that this may have been my only time to drink it. What a beer!

Had on tap at Grill One Eleven.

Appearance is very nice. Very light golden color that is very see through.

Smell was huge. Lots of hops and citrus but still some smell of the lagering yeast.

Taste was great. Flavors of IPAs with tons of hops and citrus, but way lighter mouthfeel, which it very drinkable and I really enjoyed it.

On tap at Brewzilla, the grand tasting of Cleveland Beer Week. This was one of the best beers at the event, and I had it early on a clean palate to be able to properly assess it.

The beer looks great in the glass. Its a gold color, relatively cloud-free, with very nice active carbonation. A white head atop the lustrous body has great staying power and leaves a trail of lacing.

The beer is a hop lover's dream. Seriously, this does for American Pale Lagers what Hopslam does for DIPA's. Huge notes of pine, mango, grapefruit and orange jump out of the glass. Super expressive and enjoyable hop bill, and just a kiss of sweet malt lurking underneath giving a hint of bread.

The flavors in this American Pale lager are uncompromising and distinct. Tons of pine and citrus hops bury my palate in a entire hopback of flavor. Some bready sweet malt and a touch of honey come through once the hop assault ceases. Not just a one-trick pony, the malt is substantial enough to support the barrage of Humulus lupulus. This is really quite a remarkable beer - I'm surprised that this is flying under the radar. It kicks Bell's Pale in the ass and turns the flavors up to 11.

The carbonation is very crisp, the body is light and the finish is mild lingering bitterness with a dry edge. Just a bit high in the carbonation - almost champagne like. The drinkability is high with this one. If it were bottled, I would certainly enjoy several in a night. While many American Pale Lagers go the less-is-more route in terms of citrus and pine hops, this isn't afraid to go big. Hopslam's little lager brother.

On tap at Stub and Herb's Bell's Fermented Eclipse Event. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a pale shade of yellow with a bit of haze. Several finger white head and a bit of lacing. Nose consists primarily of a really nice earthy pine scent with a bit of a floral aspect to it as well. Taste isn't quite as heavy on the pine, and adds in a bit of mild bready flavors. Mouthfeel is nice and dry with the spice. Although a bit heavy and unique in the flavor to be too drinkable, this was quite good.

Poured ontap into a pint glass. A golden lager with lots of lacing going down the glass. Aroma is hoppy with some bready malt underneath. Flavor is fairly complex, with pine, resin, citrus and honey all wrapped up in the flavor. As the beer warms a small hint of booze surfaces. The pine is there all the way from mid-sip to the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and drinkability is solid. A nice little hoppy lager here.

Also had at Wexford Ale House, as LetsGoPens did.

A: Pours a light straw color. Provides a small white foam head with sufficient lacing.

S: Lots of pine hops with some sweet, caramel malt scents.

T: There is a tremendous amount of pine that hits the palate first. It lasts throughout the taste, but the malt, honey and caramel hit the palate on the back end.

M: A nice clean crisp bitter taste is left on the palate.

D: This is a fine pale ale to drink. Easy to drink. A great pale ale.

Wow, what a surprise! Definitely a random beer to stumble upon one afternoon at The Wexfod Ale House. Pours bright, traspnslucent, golden yellow with a foamy white head that recedes in the expected fashion. However the nose implies some serious hops here. Citrus and pine with a solid husky yet sweet pale malt backbone.

A great deal more pronounced than the appearance woyld lead you to believe. Lots of hops up front. Spice and pine with some citrus zest. Fades to substantial malt. Sweet and bready with a nice toasty note. Fantastic balance and extremely drinkable.

Crisp and bright on the palate really framing the fresh hoppy notes. Definitely more substance in the body than I would have guessed as well. What a flavorful and drinkable lager! If you get the opportunity its a must try.

On-tap at Ashley's.

Beautiful golden-lemon straw bodoy. Clear, clean. One finger of thick, creamy, off-white head. Great lacing. Clean aroma of honey, biscuit malt, and fresh, piny-citrus hops. Nice and refreshing.

Taste starts with grainy, bready malts. Turns sweetish with notes of honey, before the hops take over. Deliciouos citrusy, piny, minty hop bitterness. Hints of sea-air funk as well. Mineral-y twang. Clean, bitter finish. Lingering hop flavor (mostly piny and herbal). Medium-bodied with a nice creamy feel. Delicious and very drinkable. Please bottle this!

Just had this on draft at the Gerst Haus. Pours brilliant gold with a white head that doesn't leave much lacing.

Aroma is biscuit and pale malts with a nice floral hoppiness. Not really strong, but decent.

American pale lager? Bullshit. This is a German pils. The malt profile mixed with a fairly assertive floral hop bitterness spells pils in my book. And a good pils at that.

Mouthfeel is appropriately crisp and light. Very refreshing.

I can't say that I was pleasantly surprised with this one, as I always expect quality from Bell's. Its existence was the surprise, as I had no idea this brew existed. I think Bell's would be wise to toss this one into their year-round lineup. At the very least, they could release it as an alternative summer seasonal to Oberon, which is really lacking this year. Either way, I could drink buckets of this stuff.

And again, forget the style listing. This is a German pils for sure.

Had this at Stubs for Bell's Fermented Eclipse

Served into a pint glass.

Served with a light layer of white head that fades down fast leaving slight splattered lace. Color is a very clear golden yellow.

Aroma: Very hoppy for a lager. Lots of pine with a hint of citrus. Some bready malts show. Reminds me a lot of 2H.

Taste: More 'lager-like' here, but still fairly hoppy. Big pine hop profile with some floral notes. Some bready malts show. Great flavors for a lager.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and fizzy with a touch of bitterness. Lighter bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry and bitter.

Overall, this one is extremely drinkable. It has a lot of great flavors and has a light bodied which makes this one a great session beer. This is something I would like to see in the summer more often from Bells.

Tasted at a Bell's Beer Brunch at the Sidecar for Philly Beer Week 2010. This beer arrived at my table a pale golden color with only a small bright white head, and could have easily been mistaken for your run of the mill macro lager. One whiff and all of my preconceptions were shattered. This beer has a nose that one would expect from an American pale ale with tons of citrus zest and some pine, though it lacked some of the fruity character. Suffice to say I was intrigued and quickly took a sip. I had never tasted anything quite like this beer, as it had plenty of American hop character with citrus, pine, grapefruit and a bit of grassiness. It also possessed very clean, mild malt character and fairly neutral yeast. I did not find it to be overly bitter, though more bitter than your typical pale lager style beers. It had a light body that was thinner than I generally prefer, but it was 90 degrees outside and this hit the spot just right. Clean finish, if not a tad dry. This beer was super drinkable and a revelation. Not the best ever, but very creative. I hope they keep on making this and others follow suite.

C&C bottle number 11 of 313 poured into Lost Abbey tulip. I don't know why I hung onto this bottle so long, hopefully it's still got some zest.

A: Straw yellow color, near golden. Great lacing on this beer, it really has some good visual character. Frothy white head dissipates slowly, and leaves a pretty decent film on the shoulders of the lager. Obviously quite transparent and plenty of light getting thru.

N: Good amount of piney hop character coming through, with some mild fruitiness, like New Zealand Sauv Blanc grapes or nice spruce. No discernible corn presence, but an interesting bread character. Dry crisp.

T: The taste is more of the same from the nose. The pine is more of the throat sensation, with some real nice bright fruity character on the front. No malt really coming through, but more of that crisp bread character.

M: Punky. It's lively in the mouth, alot going on. Kind of drying, with proper carbonation.

D and O: Probably one of the better traditional American lagers I have ever had. I think it's great, maybe not quite typical of the style, but the hop addition was welcomed, and went nicely with what would otherwise be going on.

750mL corked and caged bottle poured into a tuilip. Bottle #132 of 378. Thanks for sharing Chris!

(A)- Pours a pale yellow color. Some white froth and lace.

(S)- A fruity white grape and smooth earthy grains. Some subtle woody pine.

(T)- A primarily grainy profile with some dry neutral-like honey malts.

(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. Crisp and refreshing; smooth.

(D)- Nothing extraordinary, but very easy to drink and enjoy. Would make a great summer beer.

First of all, HUGE thanks to Frank for randomly tossing me this one because of a post I'd made in a thread discussing the beer. Cheers dude!

Poured from the bottle into my (fittingly) Bell's pint glass.

A - Pale is definitely the correct descriptor for this beer, as everything about it is light. The pour is golden, but perfectly translucent, with a nice two finger pale white head that dissipates somewhat quickly, those there are clinging wisps of frothy head around the edges of the glass. Really an exceptionally beautiful looking beer. I can't get over the perfect golden color in this one.

S - Citrusy hops backed by the familiar smell of lager yeast. Honestly unlike any lager I've ever had before. The hop profile on this one is incredibly prevalent, and with the accompanying lager smell, this one is almost like a "hint of orange" slice of bread.

T - Balanced and excellent, the taste of this beer follows beautifully from the nose. The citrusy hops work in perfect tandem with the lager profile, allowing for an exceptionally balanced and drinkable 6.4% lager. There is only the slightest hint of alcohol in the taste, and it's so faint that it almost acts more as an additional complexity in the beer, rather than an unwanted intruder. The finish is crisp and clean, and leaves a nice lemon/orange taste coating the mouth. This beer is everything I would expect from a pale lager.

M - Crisp and clean. Pleasant throughout. An excellent balance to it with an almost juicy feel up front, and a very crisp, clean finish.

O - Overall an exceptional take on the style. I look forward to the day when this is a readily available year-round offering from Bell's.
